My 858 sux

I got 25 miles on my 858 a week ago. Pretty gutless for that first 18 minutes, but wakes up pretty good by 20 miles. I’ve owned probably over 20 new sleds over the last 10years and never fouled a plug. Stock plugs from day one till the day they are sold. I very the throttle from part throttle to wot for the first 20 or so miles and then let her rip!

My dealer said to check the power valve cable at the servo. If it sticks at any point I should bring it in and they would fix it. Apparently it’s not all sleds but just some. Don’t know if it’s the brackets or the cable. Just something you could take to your dealership and have them look at.

Thanks, I'll have to look at it. The dealer is a four hour drive

A four hour drive to the dealer is crazy!! Didn't you know, most new sleds live at the dealer:). All joking aside, I hope it's an easy fix you can do remotely. Bad injector maybe?

the power valve does stick, because the actuator from the servo is not aligned well with the cable housing......wish i could post pics, but i don't know how...but take a pic with your i-phone from behind the servo looking forward....you will notice the actuator on the servo is not aligned with the cable housing, you can cycle the servo actuator without the engine running....you will notice that as the actuator moves thru its range of motion, it gets canted to one side, and by doing so, binds against the cable housing.....a simple fix is to use a pair of pliers to bend (slightly) the bracket that holds the cable so that it aligns more perfectly with the the actuator .... actuate it a couple of times, and it will work perfectly....mine does not bind at all now

No issues on the first ride today. Engine came alive in the second hour and I was hitting 8k easily with 2' of pow at 7-8k elevation. Glove box puts out some serious heat. Alpha track hooks up great as expected and when I did get off trail for boondocking, it was pretty effortless to get on edge and carve in neutral position. Currently have ski shocks at 65psi and rear track shock at 140#. Not night and day from an Ascender chassis but need more seat time for sure before comparing it. Sharp looking sled!

Some good info. Got a couple more night shifts before I can look into it. Maby all my clutch parts will show up too.

One my initial ride I found it easier to get on edge than the ascender and a much larger sweet spot or balance point. Now I haven't rode my Ascender this year so its all from memory , the true test will be to ride the Catalyst until you are comfortable with it and then ride an Ascender.

I loved how easy it was to get up on a ski and balance it. LOVED it. Reminded me of my M7. My Khaos is all-or-nothing... it either wants to be flat on the ground or all the way over on its side with little in between. I put Ice Age Elevate spindles on it to see if that'll help. I'd like to love both sleds.

i rode some ski doos and thats how they felt all or nothing and fighting you either way. my ascender seemed more neutral in all positions and the catalyst was even better. it just leaned where you wanted and stayed until you changed inputs.

I’ve always told people that when it comes to getting on edge, to me the Polaris feels like your riding a box and cat feels like your riding a ball. Cat just transitions smooth from one side to the other, where Polaris feels like it takes more effort to initiate getting on edge like your overcoming the corners of said box. Once on edge you can keep either of them there all day.

Vern, you described EXACTLY the difference between my Khaos and my Catalyst. Good job!

What about Doo? Those things just seem unpredictable to me.
