858 Bog?

Ben, those were slydogs on 858? I have a set laying around, and hat stock skis loops, and was going to put them on but website says no fit kit for catalyst. What did you use?

I watched the video. He needs to try unplugging the TSS. I think he was triggering it when he was mashing on the throttle. The TSS is pretty sensitive at times. It seems like I trigger it the most grabbing a hand full of throttle from a dead stop and you kind of push down on the throttle while pushing it in. Just a thought!!!

Looks like the 858 rips, but doesn't spool very quickly; I wonder how much clutching and maybe engine tuning could help with that. That seems to be the 9R's one big selling point: being able to go from plodding along, mostly off-throttle, mash it, and have it pull hard a second or so quicker than anything else - that'll get you out of stuff. It may be the 9Rs lighter crank and clutch (the 858 has a pretty heavy clutch, right?) at play more than the extra displacement. I don't think it's possible, let alone likely the 858 will match that, but hopefully it gets closer. The TSS theory is one variable to eliminate; that should be fairly easy to confirm, and maybe something an ECU flash could address.

I never expected it to rev up as fast as a 9r. Just hoped it would be closer than what it is. 9r bottom is awesome. I don't think top is much different than 850. It's probably a little but minor.
My 858 bogged on a couple hills the first day when full throttle. The rest have been been from a dead stop when you wack the throttle. He might be right on tss.

if people want it to hit super hard then clutch in different. hitting hard on the bottom is great for trenching wheelies but not much else. mine doesnt "hit hard" but eases into its full wheely so its controllable. i guess i'm not trying to do endless loopdeloos and spinnyrounds i'm trying to get up and through the hills not film a youtube show.

They use 48 helix, go for more shallow angle like 44 or 42 and the engine response will be a lot better.
