All these threads hatin on Obama....

i agree with everything you said except for "and yes the war is for oil" don't you think if it was for oil it'd be a little bit cheaper for us? on top of that do we not get most of our oil from saudi? which might i add is deverting a great deal of that oil to china

Yes we get most of our oil from the Saudi's, but Iraq has the 2nd largest known oil reserves in the world.

You are fooling yourself if you don't think this war has at least a little bit to do with oil.

Being the Liberal Muslim (LOL) I am told I am, I even think the U.S. needs to secure an oil supply at some point.... not sure this was the correct way.

i agree that the us needs to secure its own oil supply but we have our own oil and the technology to drill and refine it.

yes iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the world however they are unable to contribute hardly any of it.

and if you are referring to us helping them and in turn they sell us cheaper oil in return then you are right, the US does that everywhere in the world whenever they can. I don't remember the term for it.

Most people believe that the war is solely about oil which is false. Whether you or I wanted to go to war is irrelevant because we are there. We can't turn tail and run. We've done a lot of good things over there that you don't hear about. Casualties are at an all time low. Contrary to what many americans believe, we have the support of the Iraqi people.

It's not about who we get our oil from. It's about our presence in the middle east. Iraq and Saddam ***ged up just enough to give us a reason to solidify our presence in the region in their country. They were stupid. Iran is itching to make the same mistake. If you run into Chuck Liddell and he wants your lunch money... give it to him. Pick your battles. There are some none too bright people in the middle east who don't understand that concept. The US just happens to be the baddest mofo on the block and we don't mind trying out our new toys on you if you want to give it a shot. Again... so what!

I dislike Obama, i dislike Hillery, I dislike McCain and I have disliked all of the other candidates that i have heard of. I felt the same 4 years ago, I didn't like Bush, but I really didn't like Kerry. Just because I am against Obama does not mean that I support any of the other candidates (especially McCain, who is probably going to die from a medical condition in a year or two). And I'm not sure why it surprises me, but I still don't understand how what is supposed to one of the most advanced countries in the world can only manage to come up with these two idiots as presidential candidates?? I know there are a lot better people out there.

Some things I'd like to see change;

1) Get rid of all the damn lobyists, if you really want a bill introduced to congress and you need support for it, go and get petitions signed! That will show your representative of what his/her constituents really want. And by constituents I mean individual citizens, not big businesses like some people in congress think...

2) Get rid of the bipartisan system, we could solve a lot of little issues if every candidate wasn't hiding behind an donkey or an elephant.

3) If the presidential nominee system doesn't drastically change by way of something like a "salary cap" for campaign funds. It should be mandatory for candidates to wear sponsor suits just like NASCAR drivers. If I cant easily find out where they stand on important issues I at least want to know who is backing them and who they are going to pay back by way of government handouts or favors once elected.

I hate politics for the reasons stated above in all the threads...EDUCATE yourselves. Media dishes out so much garbage... I can take jokes, but the racism, finger-pointing, judgemental, no common sense, and "I'm better than you attitude" gets you nowhere. Its depressing. All I can say to whoever the next president is...good luck..

I agree,^^^^^^Powdersledder

That’s why I choose to be an independent. I was raised in a staunch democratic house with both my father and mother demarcates. But as I grew up and seen how the real world is I had a hard time believing the democrats way. I don’t want to be associated with ether party. I have voted for both Democrats and republicans. But to put all of the blame on Bush is crazy.
My father was a Principle by profession so he voted Democrat. I work for the government at a military base so most of the time I vote Republican. But nothing makes me madder then someone that votes a straight party line. I think that they are all talking $hit.

Milehigh I just think that you like to argue!!!!!:D But it is good to hear a voice from the other side of the discussion. But you never state why you would vote for Obama. I for one would like to hear why I should vote for or against him!

i'm thinking mile high just misses snow and likes to stir the pot playing devils advocate.

I tell ya guys what, get me the signatures and in 11 short years i will run for president and promise not to hide behind a donkey(unless he's from shrek) or an elephant(unless he flies). I will have an open door office and any citizen over 21 will be welcome to come talk about things over a beer.

Sorry let me clarify, if you are in the service, gaurds or active duty you can drink any where.

I won't be too drunk...my pork barrel will be that I only stock MN beers or ex MN beers. Lots of Grainbelt, Schmidt, Hamms and maybe Olympia. You know hippies won't come drink that stuff.

National Debt under party leadership:
Natl_Debt_Chart_2006-email.jpg

so much for our "conservatives" cutting spending

There are some HUGE presumptions with your little graph.
Things like it is a proven fact clinton's people hid the fact the economy was crashing till after the election. If the people knew what was coming, a Dem wouldn't have stood a chance.

The Debt. has always and will always go up during war. The first Bush war, then Clinton, the war on terrorism. It's easy to make things look good when all you do is bomb baby milk factories.

Also, there is not a single note as to HOW they balanced the budget. Things like Clinton sold off the entire stratigic material reserve to china.

You can tax the dog snot out of people and the debt will go down, for a while. Till the chit hits the fan and the Dems are kicked out of office and then conservatives get the bill.

As with anything else, it is a slanted misleading pile of BS. It shows what they want it to show.

If nothing else, this is the most open political discussion we have ever had without the thread getting pulled because someone did something stupid, so good on everyone.

There are 3 things that you can mention and get a debate on.
Politics
Religion
Best sled.

Mile high - I think that your graph a page or two back is illustrative, but it likely has nothing to do with a declining national debt. I believe what it showed was the deficit spending. I agree, that at the end of the Clinton admin, there was a continuing decrease in national spending v revenue. That probably had more to do with (A) the Clinton admin shifting entitlements onto the State budgets and with the culmination of many spending programs and (B) a higher tax schedule.

Remember that Clinton put one hundred thousand cops on the streets during his first term administration (I think). But those cops got there because of federal grants. When this money ran out, the local governments were saddled with paying the salaries or cutting law enforcement. Hard tobe considered tough on crime when you canning half your police department.

Not to worry (DEMS), the legislators here on the left coast enacted a cut in the tax paid when licensing a vehicle. This was designed to be a little economic stimulus. Gray Davis was in office when the sunset on that repeal occured, the Republicans screamed blood murder that he was hosing the little guy. These are the same aholes that voted it with a sunset, but pointing that out doesn't make you a champion for the common man.

Powdersledder - I understand your frustration, but this country was set up by landowners who some pledged life and fortune to see it happen. It was and is set up so that the fortune of this country is not at the mercy of which way the wind blows. Although I will concede that both sides of the fence have learned well how to manipulate the system and public opinion.

In the end, read some history and I think that you'll find that these times aren't necessarily any different from other times. Sure we know the news of the world faster, but the way its packaged anymore is designed to elicit a particular reponse (FOX too). It seems every generation has been on the brink of destruction - financially, morally, environmentally - and somehow we are all here.

In the end we as a nation are fatter, lazyer (sp) and less classically educated than before. This is a direct result, not of FDR or Clinton, but of you, me and our neighbors tolerating things that detract from the value of our country. I don't really believe that the freedom of speech laid down 200 plus years ago was intended for a vegetable on vagina art show or for some ahole to claim that "GOD HATES FAGS" at a solders funeral. Its there so that you and I can sit on our butts and bicker back and forth about the lesser of two evils.:) Sorry, kinda went off track. I'll bring it back online - Barack is for change right? Well I've busted my hump for a couple nickels to get where I'm at - I'd rather not change that.

moose is wise beyond his years....

Obama very scary how alot of the country is falling for this guy , I heard that he was sworn in to his current office as Senator on the Kuran not the Bible , and he said that he will also be sworn in as President with the Kuran , this alone really bothers me , I cant understand Americans these day all I can say is WAKE UP AMERICA

This is very interesting and we all need to read it from
start to Finish and send it on to anyone who will read it. Maybe this is
why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any
atrocities. Can a good Muslim be a good American? This question was
forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The
following is his reply:

Theologically - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to
Allah, The moon God of Arabia .

Religiously - no. . . Because no other religion is
accepted by His Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)

Scripturally - no. . . Because his allegiance is to the
five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically - no . Because his allegiance is to
Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam
forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews .

Politically - no. . . Because he must submit to the
mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and
destruction of America , the great Satan.

Domestically - no. . . Because he is instructed to marry
four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran
4:34 )

Intellectually - no. . Because he cannot accept the
American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he
believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and
the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy
and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial
or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. . . Because when we declare 'one
nation under God,' the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah
is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in
The Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberation....

Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in
this country. - - - They obviously cannot be both 'good' Muslims and
good Americans.

Call it what you wish it's still the truth. You had
better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be
for our country and our future. The religious war is bigger than we know
or understand. . ...

And Barack Hussein Obama, a Muslim, wants to be our
President? You have GOT to be kidding! Wake up America !

Obama even says if he wins the election, he will be
sworn in on the Quran---not a Bible!

Footnote: He was sworn in on the Quran for his current
office and he refuses to pledge allegiance to the United States or put
his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is played! The Muslims
have said they will destroy us from within. Hello! Having a Muslim
president would seem to fit the bill! Will you trust this man with our
national secrets?

SO FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

THE MARINES WANT THIS TO ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S.

Please don't delete this until you send it on.

no he is not a christian, at least in the traditional sense!

Yes he is. He believes in Christ.

This e-mail is junk. There is no truth in it.

Can a Muslim be a good American? Yes. I have three friends who are Muslim (born in the U.S., families are from Lebonon) and they are as good of an American as any of us.
