Snowies or Crooked Creek @ Togwotee

We have a trip planned for mid january to tog, conditions I hear fromm cc is scarce. Would we be better off going to the snowies? Driving from minnesota so looking for the best of course. Any suggestions on where to stay. Thanks

Thats a picture of one of my guests. I'm still Polaris red. Noah is the quiet one, and he CAN get it done. The snow is here. Just plain unbelievable conditions now. Randy, you made a mistake.

GOOD! I was a bit worried there for a second... Wont see ya out there this yr but the young bucks from NY(Ghostriding Al, Tall Kenny, Adam & Butch) look forward to hitting up "hotdog meadow" w/you again sometime!

Rode today up there somewhere, a ways above brooks lake, reel good snow. no base yet but we were getin in to 4 - 5 feet of powder in spots. Was snowing all day. Still able to find untracked powder, lots of fun no picks of anything though.

When In Doubt just stay home

WE just got home this morning, wanted to thank all those that decided to stay home for what ever their reasons were.(Frank, Dave, Arlyn, Doug, and anyone this may apply)
:beer;Had a great time riding with Brett, Adam, Ryan, Leroy, Greg, Carter all week.:beer;
We had a few mishaps:D, but that's part of boondock'n in any snow conditions. Otherwise your probably not really hunting in the trees.
I'm looking forward to are next trip.

Trails

Are the grooming all thr trails in the area now. We are going to be leaving at the end of the week and staying at lava mountain. Just wondering if the trails are getting groomed there? Also where is a good place to head from there to find good snow? East west south north?

I have read reports that at lava mtn it isnt even rideable to get out, same at crooked creek, the rest of the posts say snow up at tog-brooks lake is good. We are thinking of gong to the snowies instead, supposed to leave in 2 weeks. Cant wait!!!!

Snow around Togwotee and Brooks is great right now. Very easy to find over the hood stuff. Lava on the other hand needs some help from good old mother nature! SNoPro, I would seriously reconsider going to the snowies. Especially since we have about 20" in the forcast over the next 48 hours. :D Turbo, you might want to consider staying at Togwotee instead. That way you will be close to the deep stuff. They aren't even grooming the PB trail going into Lava yet because there is no snow down that way. Kinda sad. Union pass on the other hand, you may as well bring your ATV's out. Togwotee area is the place to be!

Sounds good

I called today and made reservations at togwotee. I will be calling tommorrow and cancelling my reservations at lava mountain. I feel bad as I figured I would give my money to the small guy instead of togwotee this year and now I am having to cancel on them. Either way we drive 1000 miles to get out there I don't want to have to wake up in the morning and start the truck and drive 20 miles and try to find a place to unload and leave the pickup sit along the road or in a random parking lot all day. It is nice to step out the door start the sled and ride. Maybe would be one thing if we didn't have a 6 place enclosed w/ a big pickup! Might as well be a semi as far as finding a place to park it.

Thanks For the info.

Thanks good news will try to book up at tog and cancel cc.

Swing is correct the best riding is between tog and brooks lake....you just have to find the powder. On a few occasions last week we had over the hood powder in untouched fields. I think a lot of people are blowing the situation out of proportion because you cant just dive off the CD trail to untouched snow. It is good riding and I dont think anybody (especially coming from the midwest) would be dissapointed. Good snow is forecased right now too.

Absolutely

Yep, agree with this. Only one good snow away from awesome!

Can't wait to get there.

I just got back from 4 days of riding up there. I would like to thank all of you that didn't make it up there:) You do have to know where the snow is most of the time you just are not going to find it on the side of the trail. The Tog guides are doing a great job finding snow.

Cheers
Shawn

We are coming out in a few weeks and we will be staying near the line shack. Can you ride out from this area and go up top and find any good snow or are the trails getting up top unrideable?

Togwotee Snow Conditions you better come ride!

Hello all you snowmobilers,
We just got dumped on last night getting about 8 inches at the lodge and 10 - 14 up top. I am sure that some areas got even more.

I rode day before yesterday and it was epic. The snow most of you dream about all summer long. I was digging 3 and 4 foot trenches with my sled and riding in places that hadn't even been touched all year. We were a group of 11 and we all had a blast all day making jokes about the ones that cancelled because they said their was no snow.

Don't miss out on this opportunity and come ride.

Derek

well worth the money to stay where the snow is. AND IT IS THERE AND GETTING BETTER EVERYDAY. the staff, the services, the lodge, atmosphere, everything was great this year. even though we have never expirienced some of the bad some people talk about, you could see EVERYONE was there to make the guests expirience memorable. they bent over backwards and then some, to keep everyone happy.

from the store personell, the guides, front desk, all the waiters, waitresses, rental shop people, managment, and housekeeping... EVERYONE was there to make our expirience better.
