leaving weds night or thursday morning, heading to togwotee from michigan. so, it is a loooong drive for us. is it worth comming out? some say yes some say no. lotta coin to drive that far, to be dissapointed. any updates are appreciated. ski

heading out from mn on dec 27th. Would love to see the snow thry hsf the last few years over new years, but atleast ill be riding.

Just got back from Togwotee. Over the hood snow in some areas but no base. Lowest snow this time of the year that I've seen. Could still see sage brush in most areas. As of Sat. very few trail markers are put up. From Togwotee lodge CD to V and X and V are marked and groomed. We still had alot of fun but you had to be very careful. They really could use about two more feet.
Togwotee Lodge service was top notch but we were about the only ones there.

think it will be worth driving out from sioux falls the day after christmas, or should we go somewhere else. Whats the forecast like?

I guess my question is where would be any better? Unless you head to Revy it seems like most areas are sitting on a light base right now. We are supposed to get a few inches today and tomorrow. Christmas day is supposed to be cold and clear with high pressure for a few days.

Went up again to ride yesterday. Unloaded at the divide again because the snow is just too thin everywhere else. It is sad. Found a few pockets of decent stuff but overall the snow is terrible. Not much depth, not much fresh, sure hope we get a dumping soon. For those of you thinking of driving out this week, you might think about saving your money for another few weeks or a month so you are not disappointed.

Thanks for the updates. We just pushed our trip out a couple weeks due to the low snow there and a huge storm coming through the mid west. We were supopose to leave Saturday. So thanks and hopefully that old b*tch mother nature will start cranking out some snow!

we drove through togwotee pass from dubois to jackson last night. the snow is very thin. nothing like a "normal" year. when driving by lava mountain lodge, i dont even know if you could safely ride out of there. up top the parking lot had lots of vehicles but, only one sled trailer, everyone else must be hiking or skiing.

we have reservations to stay the rest of the week starting tomorrow night at togwotee mountain lodge. we stayed in jackson last night, and will stay there tonight to get me aclimatized to the elevation better, as i get altitude sickness, very easily and very badly.

we will ride tomorrow and if i dont like what i see, i am pulling up and heading to west yellowstone. IP and west sound like they have alot more snow but higher avy danger right now.

after our ride tomorrow i'll post my opinion. but, my humble opinion right now from what i saw driving over the pass is, if you are not a local, and have to drive any distance at all, stay home, or choose a different destination till they get significantly more snow. this is comming from someone who drove 30+ hours from michigan who was looking for the deep. we will make the best of it, as we love it here at the jackson/teton togwotee area. ski

Rode Tog today, had and excelent day found some really good snow up high, blue bird skies and no wind. Tog still needs more snow but hey as long as you are not riding down in the willows by the highway there is excelent snow to be ridden. just have to know where to go.;)

rode togwotee the last 3 days and they have been 3 awesome ones!!....we rode with the super guide carter and he found us some epic snow... snow is awesome if you know where to go... imo some people that judge the snow conditions by the road and the web cam need to get there head out of there a$#..... deep deep snow like i said u just need to know where to ride.....thanks to the senior guide we had an awesome trip:D:):eek:

Hows it going everybody? I am new to this snowest site, but i wanted to add my 2 cents. Just got done riding at Togwotee today, with some awesome guides, and the snow is amazing! That is if you know where to ride... Sure if you are riding the trails, or just hitting climbs right off the trail, the snow is minimal and been beat to chit. The guides are great at getting you to untouched spots. Each day we rode we went somewhere new and there was 3-5 feet of prime powder in every spot. The higher ya go the more snow there is! especially when ya get to around 10000 feet. If your holding back your trip because you heard there is no snow, think again, there is TONS!! enjoy:D

I'm heading up to Jackson for new years and I'm debating on bringing my sled with me. Really all I would be looking for is some groomed trails and meadows to dip off in. It would be me and the girlfriend just looking to get out for a mellow ride. I've never been to Togwotee before. Is there some groomed trails for us to cruise around on?

we rode yesterday finally, there are definatley pockets of the deep out there and yes, you need to know where to find it. if you dont know the area, or dont pay for the guide, the pickins are slim. snow is in the forcast, and that will help. i know several guides and locals here, i know some of the offtrail areas and we found untouched over the hood stuff ourselves. can you find snow? sure, but it is far from easy. especially if you have never been here, and or dont utilize the guide services. remember before generalizing, not everyone gets guides, nor knows the area well enough to find all the untouched powder out there.

the guides are worth their weight in gold especially right now, the lodge and the staff services have been great so far. and the huge bonus for me, i have had very little symptoms this trip for altitude sickness. i generally get it bad approx 75% of the time. not this year, so i am greatfull.

the sunny weather the last few days have presented awesome views of the brecca cliffs, and the tetons. that alone is worth the price of admission. we saw 12 moose yesterday as well. was a great day!

ski, thats what ive been saying all along, you shouldnt say that the snow sucks by what you saw on the road and tell people to stay home and choose another location....stuff spreads fast on this site and you shouldnt say things that arnt true.
