xp 800 vs. dragon 800

I have a 154X and one of my good buddies is patiently waiting for his 155 so I will know first hand how they will compare.

After last years 700 performance I will not be surprised if the Pol does out perform the XP but, what does that even matter anyway. I absolutely love my XP and have a hard time thinking that a sled could be more fun to ride than my XP.

I think out of the box the Pol will be a better pull the cord and go sled. If you have one of each set-up by a couple of individuals who know what they are doing I think the XP will be tough just because of the weight difference. Right now the XP has to have the advantage because it has been on the snow for a month longer, we'll see what feb-april brings.

Either way I am pumped that I will have a chance to compare them side by side and be able to decide for myself which one is more fun to ride.

Rode both sleds today.

Dragon was brand new, XP was broke in (200 Miles) both 163's

Dragon, flawless performance, clutches spot on, zero heat under hood, explosive throttle response, (with oil in the tank), perfect out of the box performance.

Xp ran very well, noticed xp pushes on flat ground very bad, hard to turn on flat ground or hills, do not notice weight difference, xp "feels heavy"

Dragon has far superior handeling characteristics.

After break in, no doubt dragon will eat XP, "Tourqe monster"

Both good sleds.

XP owner qoute "I got f____d, Im getting a dragon! XP for sell!

I guess we will see in Mcall this weekend wont we big A. The only think i have to say is that i think they are both going to be awesome sleds. I think it is going to come down to 90% rider. That will make the difference in sleds. I have yet to ride a poo, and my xp has about 150 miles on it. I have no complaints so far except for the hand warmers. Other than that its great. I have had no belt issues and am gearing up to do some venting to solve the hot clutch problem. Cant wait to get some good deep snow to really put it to the test.

I know for a fact some dealers are currently looking for 800 dragon buyers.

Would you mind sending me a pm and letting me know who these dealers are please.

Thanks

no doubt! i'm sure the dealers up here would be more than willing to take the dragons off their hands

Tough to make it back without a belt, isn't it?
true story, as were gearing up to head out a group of riders pulls in. They notice we have an extra belt around the handle bars of the xp... they just laughed... we ended up using it
belt eating POS, but it sure rides nice and handles well!!!

They should update the riser and make it a couple belt widths taller.

I hope they get this figured out.

poo v doo

I notice this is a heated thread started to compare two 800 class sleds. Isn't there an other 800 moutain sled out there ? How does the ol M8 stand up to these sleds or is it in an other class by it's self?

the poo and doo guys argue like crazy at the shop, they see one another there quite often and like to compare peens

cat riders just arn't ever around to argue with :D

Didn't they get put in the 600 class with the yamaha's?

just put 200 miles on a 163 800 and had a freakin blast. loves powder and pulls hard everywhere. Only complaint is it gets pretty hot if you push it. now for my xp review- bought a 146 summit and thought it would be the chit. Loved it at first but has developed a mind of its own. power has been inconsistent and the handling suffered in the rough and the powder. only put 80 miles on the sled but did not deliver the fun factor i was looking for.

I'm trying to decide what to do for next year and I have to say yesterday at Revy in about 6 feet of powder a Rev XP was looking very good! I ride a 900 King Cat and normally love how it handles powder but I have to say the XP stayed on top quite a bit better than I did. Looks like the extra weight definitely makes a difference. He said he had had no belt issues but his hand warmers had been AWOL from day one. Unfortunately did not get to see it go on the "juice" he had just installed as it was way to foggy.

If you are familiar with BRP at all, about 90% of their tachs read 150-200 RPM low. Mine reads 200 low. Therefore, when the tach shows 8,300 rpm it's actually running at 8,100 rpm. That's been true of DOO for quite a few years. BRP's motors(ROTAX) have always turned a lot of RPM to make power.:)

is this the same with their digital tachs?
