xp 800 vs. dragon 800

last sunday colorado matt and i riding up on the divide. i ride m7 tried 3 times to get over never did. a rider on dragon lined up went over the top with lots ground and track speed. next the xp didnt go much higher than m7. i am needing sled next season as well

Let's not compare these two this year...

Xp's have big time clutch isues, Rode with several in whisler 4' powder they go ok when they are not changing belts. Some long pulls 5 min w.o.t. side hilling to get to where we go .They never get that far belt's are smoke .
When breaking trail they all needed to track poach and never all day could take lead. My little 07 700 155 dragon did better than any xp and not even close to a 08 800 dragon , older rev's set up good do better as well.
Rode with them all several times now not just one or two times and with many different riders and all very good riders better then me.
Work out clutching , should be not bad, but will never be the king of to
many hills this year. Even all the Doo guy's I ride with agree.

Just got in from the Snowies. Had my XP 154X, an '06 M7162, '07 XRS159, and a Dragon 800 163. Great snow with sunshine and NO WIND:eek:. Unbelieveable, eh? The M7 has shaved head, slp can. The XRS, stock HPS can. My XP stock, no can. The Dragon stock, no can. The M7 took a beatin'. My uncle was pretty upset. He couldn't get up the same hills with the two feet of fluff we enjoyed today. Bad running M7? Maybe. But I doubt it. It was set-up be Xtreme in Erie. The XRS ran great. My uncle is 200lbs and I'm 205lbs. I would highmark him by about 30-50 feet every hill, every time. The Dragon was right there with the XRS. We are all very similar is skills and experience levels. On the flats, my XP ate them all up. 51 mph track speed in two feet of pow. That's pretty good;). On the groomed trail, the XP from a dead start was crazy fast. The Dragon gave up one length at the start, the XRS about one length right away and more as we progressed, and the M7 a bunch. But from a 30 mph start, the Dragon and my XP were side by side until we ran out of room. We did this run about 10 times with the same results. At a 30 mph start with the XRS, the XP immediately starts to run away(both of these are "Felker" sleds with Felkers clutching,ie they work!). As for the M7, well it's a 700. Not bad, but it's a 700. The XRS has 670 miles(trouble free!), the Dragon has 59, my XP 105 and the M7 809. The Dragon and the XP will be close. But if mine had been a 163, I think the climbing results would have been different. That's my story and I'm sticking too it!!
What's a Felkers clutch??????????

Felker is a SkiDoo dealer in Loveland CO-probably the best Doo dealer in the country when it comes to clutching. This is a comparison of an XP set up by Felker to a new Dragon likely with factory set-up. Clutching will get only better on the Dragon as Dealers perform the normal improvements over factory. The biggest performance hurdle XP owners have is clutching-not many Felkers around.

Dragon 59 miles?? And you boys on your XPRSQRS's are claiming a whole new sled at around 100 miles?????

Hahah!!!!!!!!

POLARIS has a sled that runs and beats the XPPQQS's!!!

I love it, like the good old days!

The 800 Dragon I ran against in my comparo a few pages back, came from Xtreme performance in Dacono, CO. If you don't know who they are, Google them. They put more "work" into their sleds than almost anybody. The 800 Dragon was set-up. My XP was set-up. I don't want to repeat myself, but they are both great sleds. There is NO WAY a 700 Dragon will climb with an XP unless it has a big shot of motor work. My buddy, the 800 Dragon rider I compared to, also has a 700 Dragon. I have seen it, and it isn't even close going up hill. Neither is an M7. Just so you Poo guys know where I stand, my XP is in the shop having the front bulkhead replaced from a 15 mph impact. About $1,000. That sucks. I haven't had any belt issues..........yet;)

That impact broke my thumb too!! But, it was worth it showing the Dragon rider how to not only go over the hill the fastest, but also how to go over the bars the fastest;)

I know its just a bunch of speculation but does anybody think the difference is going to be huge? Two 800 cc machines, the heavier of the two has slightly more power. It is going to come down to rider and conditions 9 out of 10 climbs.

I'd be on the Polaris anyway, even if it didn't climb as well because Doo has too many previous gremlins. I want to ride it out of the back country, not tow it.

Now that's funny I don't care who you are. :D

I ride with 2 xp owners and picked up a 800 dragon today so far the xp`s rip they make an average rider look like a pro, my 900 RMK will out pull them but so far they are way more manevurable and can go anywhere I can, we`ll see how the 800 dragon stacks up..... as far as belt issues on the xp`s none yet

Don't compare a 900 poo and a xp not ever even close ...
The xp has nothing on any 07 rev. so no comparison.
The xp has major clutch problems and when fixed will not ever climb as well as a 900 as time goes on the doo guy's will agree...

You guys make me laugh................ 700 Dragon or M7 won't sniff where an XP will go.800 Draggin we will see, looks like there are about three guys on this thread that ride sleds and the rest ride your keyboards!

I do admit that the polaris runs very well wich polaris very much needed for sales. I also know that there is alot of people that have had belt problems with the xp according to the bash fest that takes place on the forums. I have been around snowmobiles all my life and been in a over 40 year family Ski-doo, Polaris dealership. I have seen all of the problems from the ultra days, to the 900 RMK. I believe that most of the problems that people have with sleds is alot to do with abuse, lack of know how, or the guy that will never be happy. I just put the first ride on my XP and was very impressed. Yes I agree that the clutches will run very hot on the xp if not ajusted right . I put only thirty miles on my sled and already needed to raise my belt deflection wich also alowed my clutches to run much cooler. Im not saying that this is a fix for everone but goes to show how simple things can solve major troubles. I also know that the XP is by far the most impressive out of the box Mountain sled I have every rode. After riding with alot of M8's, M1000's and a new 800 Dragon I could not be any happier. The M1000 that had a single pipe and y pipe was the only sled that could pull on my xp but for 200cc's and pipe I thought the cat should be much better than what it was. The dragon was right behind but lossing groung the further the hill got and as far as the M8's all I got yo say is back to the drawing board pretty por showing but maybe they had bad set ups. All in all it should be a great year for sleds because the bar has been lifted.

You are the one that makes most of us laugh...... You and your dad are so bias Doo you can't even think straight!!
This year we have ridden in some of the deepest powder ever, and so far bottom line the XP has belt heat issues......we have seen 5-6 XP run against all different types and kinds of sleds and they perform good but not better than last years R.
Can't even come close to a 900 RMK and the 800 dragon countinues (every pull) to go higher than the XP (we are talking deep snow that turbos can't even climb)

It's your story Icecap,yes we have a belt issue and a 154 XP won't take it to a 159 07 800 R but the 163 will.As far as a 900 RMK,I'd take our 700 Dragon over one anyday so it's not worth comparing,nobody around here rides a 900 Rmk or wants to.

changed my mind on the dragon

after riding a new M8 sno pro :(i have decided that the dragon is definately my 2nd choice for a mountain sled-:eek:-i know not everyone likes the new xp ,,just my oppinion:beer;:beer;

Every single sled has its tricks and you have to find them out then you can get the most out of it. All sleds are like this poli, skud, cat or yami they all got tricks. So far only a select few areas got snow . right now in my yard theres 4 inches last year there was 6 ft. no point in argueing about sleds if there aint any snow to go ride on.

some of us have snow, enough to know what sleds work and what ones dont, so if some people dont have snow yet, they just wont know that the new xp they got is a belt killer for awhile does anyone els think they kinda look like someting of STARWARS?
