Rudes 2005 snowhawk build

motor plate suggestion

Jeremy the plate that the motor mounts to is a poor design and it can be improved. The holes that those bushings fit into will become elongated and wobbled out. To fix it weld the holes closed and redrill them and put artic cat rubber bushings. Fabcraft in florence redid mine for me and would be able to provide the parts and or weld and drill the plate. They redid mine for $175. Give me a call if you have questions and I will try to post a picture. Andrew 4062145713

I like the rubber adhesive to stop rubbing against coolers, I tried the same but was not able to fit the cowling over the tank after and needed to remove them the tolerances are tight. Has anyone had luck doing this?

Had the same problem for the last 2 seasons ! Mine came out of the factory that way... They must have gathered 3 guys to pry it on. I was afraid to take it off the first 2-3 times and had to use my tire bar to pry it back on !!!

I had to make the hook slots on the back cowling a little wider toward the bottom so the hook can still get through it... Still have to use my tire bar though but I use less strength... !

Final assembly really sucks on most of the Hawks I've seen so far. The hood of the 503 I had wouldn't get into that rib that the back cowling has at the top... Same with my current machine...

Bet you wish you still had it right next to that pieced apart 8Hunnert? If you don't your fooling yourself, just think of the young lady snowboarder you could lure with it!:p

You're right T, I wish I had it apart right next to mine so I can make a second real sled killing machine out of it

Luring up gals with Hawks doesn't work, don't you know that !!! Unless it's a child's 60 or 120. Id' say : "They're too much of a man machine to drive unlike a sled" (my ex-GF would then punch me on the shoulder if she was to read this hahaha !!!). Seen gals on tricked-out Turbo sleds and so far no gals on 503 Hawks... Actually the only gal I've seen riding a Hawk was on a 503 back east and didn't look like a girl (AT ALL) with her helmet on !

Removing stickers

Goo-off in the aerosal along with a hair dryer has worked really well for me in the past. Just let it set up about 5mins then apply a littel heat and start peeling. I see your in enumclaw, im in gig harbor so i have to drive by when i go sleding. If you like give me a call when the snow flys and we can go out and hit the snow.

Good Luck

still waiting on parts but i decided to put togather my bars and remove all my stickers from my plastic. also used the heat gun and sand paper to remove some of the scratchs on my belly pan. i have 2sets of my old bars for sale. the fly ones were nice and alot taller. about 3 "

also put togather some of my cooling system. still need to find a small rad to add in the mix.

Rads

I ended up using a Polaris quad alu. rad.. fit very nice. used the cooling fan from a ex500 Kawi.. The kawi radiator is a good choice as well as it has large inlet/outlet ports.. but I couldnt pass on the alu unit.. Much lighter...You'll have to get a bit creative with the hoses,as all the bike radiators Ive looked at (100'S) have the inlets /outlets oposite of whats needed for the cleanest pos. install.
a cbr1000 rad is very small and compact and would also be a great choice.
] but much harder to find $$$$$

I made a suspension relocation bracket that has some extra footpeg mounting holes for ya Jeremy. I hope this is what your looking for. If this isn't right let me kinow and I'll change it.

tried to turn over my 800 last night! wow this thing has some compression. it seems like its 3 to 4 times harder to turn the engine over with the pull cord. i toke the plugs out and tryed and it seemed good. still harder then my 600 though. maybe its because of the added waight of my larger cylenders, crank, and tra3?
