Rudes 2005 snowhawk build

you need some way to purge the air from the system.. that would usually be the high point.. If you just put one of those T deals that has a cap in the top inlet hose that should do it..
you can get one at any auto parts store

how come you wrapped the pipe??

i had a kx85 motor in my yamaha ysr50 mini sportbike,wrapped the pipe and had all kinds of issues. the warmer it got the worse it ran. i played the jetting game til i got sick with no results. went back to stock jets and UN-wrapped the pipe....PERFECT!
 
Hey Jer. Looking good. You need to put at least 5 straps on the pipe. It will start to slide and group up on the pipe. If you havent yet, you need to buy a can of clear high temp paint and use it all on the heat tape. it will help seal it. It will stink and smoke for the first hour of riding .
 
ok, a little update on whats happening in the shop.
jack shaft and drive shaft are in, secondary is on but i need to figure out the shimming and by the looks of it, i will need anew bolt to hold on the secondary because the stock one is to short. also got my skid in with Steves new goodies all hooked up.

also do you guys think i need new plugs? they are really brown/oiley from last seassion (machine was way to rich)

how dose my track look in terms of how tight it is? i have Steves brackets.

Hey what's the rate on that red spring on the front shock ?

I'd say try the tension that way first and adjust as needed, looks not too bad to me.

Plugs are good, do you have spark ?
 
wow! puting the brakes back on was a pain in the ***!
had a very hard time geting the roter on the drive shaft and now im not sure if it is lined up with the calpier. took some pics. tell me if you guys see anything wong.

looks good from what I can see. Why are you taking so long to get this together. Is there not snow there yet?
 
well, im almost done. got my front end almost all togeather. just need to install the can and the chain (which i dont have yet) and then gast tank and plastics. shes been puting up a fight the last week. cant believe i have done all this. i really thought i was geting in over my head when i started my build, but it as the best thing i could have done for understanding my hawk. i must say thanks to everyone for thier input and help. special thanks go out to Sledr2 and TLKDPRO for all there help with custom parts. i still havent tried to start the 800, thats the next scary thing for me. hope she starts.

going to get a cerrmaic blanket to wrap my can this morning ( hopefully free)
then i will install my pipe and get the plastics on.
 
you know it Eric! since its under the hood and not exposed to the elements, i dident see why i needed the o ring or x ring chain. this was the strongest chain they had in the ek line up in 530. all just wax it every outher ride.
