Old time pro back country rider getting back into the sport.

It has taken 6 rides from my 0ver ten year break to find a comfort level again, yesterday i was able to shred for a couple hrs in the trees, up and down hills and a bunch of technical side hills. My polaris is easier to ride but wow this gen 5 doo turbo 165 is a beast once you get used to it. It has so much power it will get you out of spots you would never think was possible!!

Added another member to the fleet, only reason I did this was the fact they are done and I really like this machine.
I was on one couple years ago and couldn't believe how good it worked, did everything I asked and it was extremely powerful. This is getting the td 270hp tune and trail muffler!! 20250223_105735.jpg

I too rode high HP mod sleds with PSI's for several years and then went to "stock" na sleds, its a hard mental thing to get over going from mod to stock. But nothing like pull the cord and go with out having to worry or be constantly wrenching. Price wise between a 9R and Boost, i would go boost all day long.
It was years before I wrapped my head around that I don't need 200+ hp on tap. Stock 800's just had no fun factor for me. Still don't if I'm being honest with myself. lol
Not having to wrench is nice tho....almost worth the trade off. lol

Yep! rode with him up in revolstoke at the big iron shootout in 2006 i think it was, Also shain stanger from twisted turbo. I was in a few of the vids back then just doing some random hill climbs at turbo hill and bull pin. Had my cmx removed from the mountain after i rolled it down the hill 1000ft by a chopper lol.
The riding style has changed a bunch and i think it is the machines that caused this. Back then we built mod sleds to climb big ****. When i got my cmx in 2005 it was a game changer for me, i now had a machine with 225hp and 430lbs!! it climbed great but allowed me to learn new riding styles because it was so light. I remember the first time i stood it up and pivoted it around on a climb people were amazed lol now it is the norm. The sleds are so good now that i noticed much less clutching and mod talk on here compared to the old days. I am in the process of putting my m1000 turbo back together, i blew up the diamond drive climbing a pull at mt baker on 22 psi boost hahah. Prob 400hp at that boost on c16 fuel. The sled is old and heavy now but if you can keep it pinned it will climb ANYTHING and that is the truth. Never ran out of power or track speed when it was turned up. I remember once in revy i was climbing turbo hill and looked down, 8400 rpm and 88 mph track speed at sabout 60 mph forward speed. Talk about a rush and arm pump. I miss the old days.
Uhhhh - I remember that CMX being on the rope!

Are you serious?? Man the big iron shootout back in 2006 2007 was ****in insane. Like 1000 sleds and 4k people. Off the hook crazy. I climbed some crap just because I knew I was getting filmed that I would NEVER try otherwise. I was one of the few NA sleds climbing big stuff. Brent Lindemann at arctic edge in Alberta tuned my 1200 twin and played around with pipes and porting and that thing was nasty. I still have the cmx. It will still climb about as good as a tuned polaris boost 165.

Yeah my Cutler 1000 was on the same rope at the end of the day. Everyone had left Turbo Hill and I had to wait for the chopper. lol

We all did things we wouldn't have on those weekends.....cameras rolling or not o_O

I remember me and my brother were in a bar the night before the big iron and a dude was walking around handing out business cards for his chopper service, lol I didn't think I would need it. My sled rolled all the way down one of the chutes in bull pen. Did a bunch of damage. Chopper ride was only 350 or 400 us money.
