Need suggestions My buddy is pissed at me

I guess you could sell the sled and then get him a tutu and some ballet slippers. I doubt any of us started riding on the absolute best. Heck, I could still have plenty of fun on that sled. I keep a 92 indy 440 for playing around MN. I can have fun for hours on a lake with that thing. My dad used it out west when we went and my girlfriend is going to use it as her sled this season as well. And she is really excited. Even though I offered to get her something newer.
He obviously doesn't know what that sled is capable of. That is an incredible motor and chassis. Unless you are really going to extremes, with some seat time he should be able to go where everyone else is going.
Risers will make a world of difference. Inform him that if he really needs it loud that he can get a can for it.
Gees, I just want to beat this guy myself. Talk about ungrateful. Most wives would never consider such an elaborate gift. What a putz.

i second the heart to heart. i agree, dont put yourself into the story and talk about how much his WIFE did for him and then maby that might snap him back to reality. i used to have a sled EXACTLY like that. that thing was the funnest sled i have ridden. i wish i could have it back. i would get the riser (3-4") and take him out again. i know a riser did a world of a dif. for me and im 6'2. that sled will keep up with the 700's and some 800's. he is a frikin lucky guy and he doesnt know it. good friends and by the sounds of it an awsome wife. like i said. go for the heart to heart and get him to come back to earth and if that dont work....beat his ungreatful a$$ and ride off into the sunset with his wife!

This thread has many shining examples of good friends and how sledding really brings people together. You might suggest he read some of it, he may pick up on it.

I did spend a lot of time trying to explain the basics and showed him the sled will do just fine that it takes practice. I traded him even for a while. He was really appreciative and said thanks many times until we got back from the mountain. that's when things went south :(
The sled runs fantastic starts first pull. His wife has never done anything like this I lost a lot of sleep last night over it. I know its not the latest greatest but look at it its nothing to be embarrassed about

How much do you want for the sled? I would buy it, but wish my lady would for me! (to bad i'm in MN) He's a lucky man that doesn't appreciate what others do for him! Once his wife leaves him he will be calling you...

This is surely one of the worst things I have heard....The guys is acting like a baby.

When you get a chance...continue with this thread, i think we would all like to hear the the rest of the story.

oh btw, imho the 670's were one of the most reliable/ bullet proof sleds. the sleds doesnt make the rider...the rider makes the sled. tell him it takes practice! i've been riding for 4 years, this year will be my 5th and i still suck at riding compared to some people.

His wife ought to tell him she wants a divorce.....After all, what girl wants to be married to a guy who has such a short, quiet sled with no risers....LOL

Seriously though, here's what you do......Trade him sleds for an hour next time you go riding. Kick his azz all over the mountain using HIS sled, to illustrate the fact that there's nothing wrong with the sled itself.

Or you could simply tell him that Chuck Norris rides one, and he LIKES it quiet so he can sneak up on Ninjas and stuff.:face-icon-small-win

That thing is mint!!!!

Tell you what, give me your buddies number, I'll buy it from him and give it to someone who deserves it!

Thanks guys and gals. I will try and set him down and have a talk with him see if I can find some resolution. thing is his wife is pretty upset and I'm thinking with how he treated her after she tried so hard to do something nice there is going to be problems there and as far as her riding she hates cold weather and wouldn't ever consider snowmobiling. Ive known him for 20 years and yes Ive seen a few things like this but never to this extreme.
I spent a lot of the day Friday when we were riding helping him almost to the point of me not riding at all that day. When he was stuck or not sure how to approach something i was right there to help. I encourage him to only try what he was comfortable doing. I think it was a case of not being good at something so why try.

cant teach respect...you were just the witness of a lack of it...I have a spare sled, that I take people out on, and they are incredibly appreciative to even be able to go...

this is not on you, this is on him...be very careful how you approach as you dont want to be the catalyst of something worse in their relationship...

ok, if he won't be resonable. Go ahead and have the wife sell the sled, take the money and SHE can take a nice vacation.

i just can't get over how unappriciative he is.
Sounds like she had a budget and he got a great sled for that budget.
She has ever right to not just be upset, but down right pissed off.

That's pretty pathetic. Just the fact that you found him a good sled and looked it over is a huge favor. That's a really nice sled, and i'm sure you found him the best sled possible considering the budget. Some people are just idiots!

WOW, what an awesome wife! Sounds like he doesn't deserve dick let alone a sweet sled. I can't believe how many newbies don't want to pay their dues and learn how to ride. Should have found him a 340 so he could learn it's the rider, not the sled.

Love the part of about demanding she get online and look for his upgrades. Thats 1/2 the fun, figuring out what you want, finding the deals and doing the work.

Not everyone is cut out to be a sledder... and from the sound of it, this guys isn't who I'd want to spend my day on the hill with. You guys have been pals for a long time but maybe sleds are your thing and not his. Hell, I have friends sled and some that ride motox and some that fish, and some that mtn bike and bla bla bla but not a single one that does all of those things with me... thats why I ended up with more than one friend.

Sell the sled. She keeps the money and buys herself something nice. Later, he will "get it" and things will be good again. Right now that sled is a physical reminder of something good gone wrong. I'm in Idaho, how much do you think you're going to sell it for? I may be interested but that is a side note in the bigger scheme of things.

Good luck and good on you guys for at least trying to do something nice.

I'd take it...

My first sled was a 83' SS 440, my second sled was a 87' 600 Poo, my third sled was a 95' 583 summit with a little work. It wasn't till my fourth sled, a 01' 800 summit 151 that I rode something superior to that thing. I would have killed to ride that 670 before that. That's an awesome sled, maybe not compared to an 09', but in it's day that was one of the best mountain sleds you could get. There's still a lot of performance in a sled like that. I bet in the right hands that thing would go places that would make him go home and cry to his wife for different reasons!

By the way, that things really clean for the year. No scuffs on the trailing arms, no obvious rollover damage to the hood. Where'd you get that thing, out of someone’s grandpa's garage?

That is one of the problems with surprise gifts maybe. If he was part of the purchase than he would have a hard time blaming everyone else or machine for his lack of riding skills. Sounds like he also has a little bit of the "keep up with the Jones" problems as well. He has already decided it is not going to work for him so the fun factor is gone. I suppose if you want to save the friendship and keep him and wifey out of counseling, gonna have to help find some cheap mods for the guy. Gonna for sure have to have a talk to him about the ramifications of his attitude towards rejecting his wifes gift to him. Obviously he is young and still learning life or is just an azzhat looking at a bitter lonesome life.

Well i found it on ksl.com it had 1400 miles on it but hadn't been maintained very well. It had a few issues but all were addressed and corrected. I spoke with his wife a while ago and she said just let it go his family has been educating him how how ungrateful he was and his wife said if he wants to sell it then that's his deal. He talked to my wife this morning and she tried to bring it up and he said he didn't want to talk about it. So he knows i want to talk to him and about my offer about the risers so the ball is in his court he can pick it up or walk off the court. Oh and he isn't a young buck he is 38 if he does sell it i will post it and get some numbers from those who are interested
thanks again I feel better about it
