Need suggestions My buddy is pissed at me

I had one of those brand new ...rode it right out of the show room. that was a way fun sled ..still remember the sound of the clutches when you burped it ....rrrrr snick ....as the skis came up off the ground ....put thousands of clicks on it and rode in every kind of pow ...that lil sled was in Revy, Valemont, Sicamous...up down in in out

anyways I think that the way things have progressed in the years he probably feels like an idiot trying to keep up with you guys on yer M8s, Rev 154 etc etc...I suggest you and him do a little solo time in some less intimidating places ....even guys that have sleds that haven't been in the big stuff get humbled pretty quick when they are forced to follow a group that thinks noothing of it...
pretty sure this is the angle he is going with .I could be wrong ...

My comments and suggestions would mirror the rest on here. Definition of asshat.

Take the packing out of his muffler and stick a riser on it and see if he's any more appreciative. I have an extra Powermadd pivot adapter I'd donate to the cause or a 3" sportech articulating riser. First time on a sled and he can't carve or hang with veterans and he's cryin'..... not sure anything will help.

If this guy's wife slightly resembles jsledder's avatar pic, buy her a warmer scarf, and take her sledding! jk. Don't waste your time with friends like that. Not worth the trouble..

You need to drop this guy and be MY best friend. Oh the times we could have! Oh, say there's a few mods I've been looking at....
Seriously, if he's doing this now it can't be the first time. Am I right? You've probably seen his spoiled little tantrums before. That is a hell of a first sled. It might not be quite as good as my first sled, the 71 MotoSki, but it's up there. Sorry bro, you did such a nice thing and got $hit on for it.

And I read the post where they guy straightened the bulkhead on his buddies m7 for free and the wetodd had to move something to get to it...Another great friend!

oh u got to be kidding me! i wish my future wife would do same thing if she get me a sled and i will take her to bed all night long! lol
yeah my first time i bought 00 rmk 700, 136 in track. everything are stocks. went out to wyoming twice. (abt 400 miles total) and thought it does not enough power to climb up.
last summer made a big change. aftermarket can, 144 inch track with 2 in paddles, no broken or missing paddle, 6 inch of brake cable, 4 inch block for handler bar riser.
Im 6"3' and 185 pounds.:beer;

Since he is your friend, giving him the boot like most people suggest just doesn't make sense. Or take his wife riding???? what good will that do for the friendship. Yes he does sound like a a$$ but my friends and I have been mad at each other several times and have worked things out. A good chunk of money has been spent I dont think spending more is going to convince your friend into calling you back. If he is a true friend to you, you both should be able to sit down, work it out and be able to agree as to what should/could be done.

It is a sharp looking sled.

Introduce your buddy to my 55 year old friend named Grant. His last sled was a 1980 Polaris 440. It took a while, but I convinced him to go riding with me (he used my wife's sled) and he ended up really wanting to get back into it. In the first photo, Grant is riding a 1992 vintage Arctic Cat that was given to him in return for installing a couple thousand square feet of hardwood flooring (not worth it IMHO). Broke as a joke (divorced and just finished helping two kids with school), he's shown here wearing a coat and helmet that we bought for him, $20 ski pants, and some ducky boots that he's had for about 20 years. If you could see inside his helmet, you would see a big smile. You see, Grant was thankful to simply HAVE something to ride. And ride it he did......On one of our trips, Grant's son came along with his shiny new M7. More than one joke was made about the dinosaur riding a dinosaur. In the end, there was some crow consumed, as Grant (and his Catasaurus) went everywhere that the M7 did....And he did it without being loud, without being cool, without a 151, and even without risers. (At 6'3" tall, he kinda looked like a bear with a toboggan stuck in his azz. :face-icon-small-win) Never once did I hear him complain. Believe me when I tell you that Grant would've picked corn off a warm turd to have a sled like your ungrateful buddy has.

Oh. by the way....After two years on the ol' Kitty, Grant saved up enough dough to treat himself to a little upgrade.:D

Tell your buddy to quit being a douche, learn how to ride, and be thankful he has a wife and some friends that would do something that nice for him. Otherwise, I'm gonna have Grant blow the dust of the old Kitty so he can come up there and give your buddy something to cry about.

personally I would sit down with your buddy and have a heart to heart..I would simply say "hey what your woman did for you is beyond special"(I would leave yourself out of it), I would explain that the machine is in excellent condition both visually as well as mechanically, that this was within the budget, that yes it could use some minor upgrades like a riser, but until he learns to master what it is there is no reason to do further mods especially when money is tight..that as his friend you would recommend him ride it as is..when finances become better and his ability improves he can then upgrade to a new sled and let his darling wife ride this one...if this talk doesnt go good then I would go to his wife and ask her permission to sell the sled and hand him the money and see what he can do on his own...At which point I would also tell her that she may have picked the wrong guy to marry...

He can borrow my shirt if he wants.

Sounds like you bent over backwards for the guy. I would be proud to have another guy like you in our group of friends.

At the end of the day, if he really wants a bigger sled....he can sell the thing and then kick in HIS $$$$$ on top to get whatever he wants. Y'know....like the rest of us would have to do. For an investment of 0 dollars, I'd say he did pretty damned good, but if he wants more then it's up to him to spend more....

email your buddy this thread and this story at the top :face-icon-small-ton

JJ. print this thread off and hand it to him..give his wife a copy as well..you both did good...

I'd do what the wife wants and sell the sled. if he thinks that the sled isn't good enough he should buy the sled that he thinks would work better with his inabilities.

I had the same thing happen with stand up jet-skis. i was doing subs and other tricks, then i let one of my buds ride for the first time. he got all pissed cuz he couldn't do stuff i've practiced for a year.

btw does she have a sister?

looks like some one has as big of an azz hat for a friend as I did.

All the talk about taking the guys wife riding ............ retarded,
Beating his azz? well not going to do a whole lot.

Some one mentioned a good heart to heart. Bingo dude prob is letting his insecurities get in the way of seeing what a catch he has in a wife. That is where being a good friend comes into play, sometimes its our place to give them a lil wake up call about how stupid they are being and to appreciate the things they got. Hope it works out.
It might be he just is embarassed to be seen on a skidoo :D

Wow...what a prick I would tell him that he should be so lucky to have a friend like you and a wife that would do such a nice thing for him. Anyways, if it were my buddy I would just try to sit him down and explain to him that all good things (such as riding ability and mods) come in time and he just needs to be patient and save his money. Tell him to learn to ride this season and next season start to mod after his abilities have out grown his sled set-up. You can't just jump in the water and expect to be an olympic swimmer.:D

the old 670 is dead sexy.......hell i would ride it just to spark up some talk about how clean it looks
