Is there any chance to actually get rid of obama care???

Thanks for those links. But since companies with 50 or more workers will not see the effect of the healthcare mandate until 2015, why are they cutting jobs so drastically right now? That's the part that confuses me. I appreciate seeing both sides of the coin. So please do not let my small rant keep anyone from providing these links.

Well the delay untill 2015 just went into effect in July I believe. Why jobs, hours, benefits are still being cut now I do not know. I could only speculate, maybe they are just planning ahead, maybe they feel if they give the government a small taste of what is to come when it is implemented, they can help put a stop to it, who knows. No prob on the rants with me. I enjoy a good civil debate. :face-icon-small-hap

Do you think they should let the government shut down?

I say Yes....shut the F****R Down !!

It wont be the first time....and things like military, the post office, medicare, medicaid, etc will all be paid.

Lets save some money and after a few weeks we'll have a good idea of which spending is actually "necessary".

They always get back paid (for work not provided) when they return to work. There is no savings, just additional expenses.

Don't you just love the liberal spin from the big networks? It's the Republicans voted for a shut down, instead of the Democrats failed to make cuts.

We need an actual third party in this country. Both Dems and Repubs should be ashamed of themselves for the way this whole thing has spiraled out of control and so should some of their constituents(yes, including me. I don't email or voice my opinion enough either)! We need term limits. We need to get rid of the IRS and replace it with a simple taxation plan that is FAIR among every single citizen and business in this country. Yes, we do need healthcare reform, but not this Obamacare sh!t! We need a STRONG middle class in this country. We need to terminate entitlements and overhaul the welfare system. We need to kick a sh!tload of people OUT of this country and tighten our borders. We need to do one of two things in the Middle East. Kick their asses or get the f#ck out! And STAY OUT! We have more resources in this country and people willing to pull it together(albeit a major learning curve for some)than people realize. There could be a major shift of unity IF these changes could be made but sadly, I don't see much of this happening.

For now, I agree with letting this mess shut down.

All you say is 100% on target. Best hurray with the STRONG middle class thing though. Unless change is implemented soon there will be no middle class in this once great country.

Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation, one of the largest medical device and equipment manufacturers in the world. Stryker’s grandfather was the surgeon who invented the mobile hospital bed. The company now sells $8.3 billion worth of hospital beds, artificial joints, medical cameras, and medical software every year.
Stryker, a member of the Forbes 400 list, was one of the top five donors to the Obama campaign. Having donated $2 million to the Priorities USA Action super PAC, Stryker also gave $66,000 in contributions to Obama and the Democrat Party.
Prior to the 2012 election, Stryker contributed millions to help Democrat candidates in his home state of Michigan. He also gave nearly $250 million to groups supporting gay rights, transgenderism, and the conservation of apes. In January, his Arcus Foundation donated $23 million to Kalamazoo College for an endowment to fund a center for social justice leadership.
Stryker's corporation is part of an industry that has been a big loser at the hands of Obamacare. Having refused to get on board with the White House and the Senate Finance Committee when the law was being crafted in 2009, the medical device industry was punished with an excise tax of 2.3% of their revenues, regardless of whether they make a profit.

Ya, that last line caught me off-guard, sounds like they are making barely enough to scrape by doesn't it?

Sounds like instead of funding governments, and giving away all their "profits" to organizations, maybe they should focus on their own workers and provide for the families that they will soon be putting out of work? Instead they "donate" all this money for the tax relief and write-offs it allows them. What a fine and upstanding company! Anytime to pay less taxes right? Even at the expense of your own employees.

All I read in that particular article is that they are laying off people to keep their profit levels the same. Not impressed.

The first article relays much of the same. "Shifting the workforce to China" I hope nobody buys any of Boston Scientific's products. Even shifting their investments overseas. That's pretty anti-American, just to keep profit levels up.

All of these companies are cutting jobs to keep their pockets full, not to help the American person.

Just think, if these companies didn't donate to elections, and kept out of State and Federal politics, maybe, just maybe they would have the money to pay for their employees healthcare and keep America employed and healthy. Instead, it's a business about how much money can we make. I bet dollars to cents that each of these companies 'donate' just as much money as they have in past years for write-offs to avoid paying taxes as they have in the past. When that money could easily go towards retaining their employees and offering them healthcare. This is definitely not a "love thy neighbor" World we live in. Especially when big corporations are involved. There is no looking out for the little guy(and his family)

Ok, I don't want anyone to think that I am a proponent for Obamacare, I do not think it is the end all be all. But it is something that is needed(whether in this form or something else) however people in Congress seem to take the stance that instead of trying tocome up with alterations and make this Act better for everyone, they simply venomly appose it.
"The Blue's introduced it so as Reds, we must deny it!"
This happens in all forms of democratic governments. Even ours, especially ours! But having multiple parties helps keep most Bills and Acts fairly vanilla, otherwise they will never pass. Still, we deal with this on a daily basis on Parliment Hill.

Biker, I guess you can label me however you wish, call me purple with pink polka dot collar if ya want. I don't think I really am either side so whatever. Here's a little background on me, not that I have to provide this info.
mtx, again... my apologies. my comment was more about the words than the person behind them. we all get labels... they're only as personal as we allow them to be. I appreciate the open and honest conversation.

Brandon, I generally agree with your comments here and I'm all for letting it shut down. Hopefully people will realize it's not as big a deal as the panic mongers would have us all think.
1 thing I wanted to correct you on though... the Postal Service operates with 0 funding from the tax payers. The only real govt. connection left there is that Congress controls a great deal of what they can and can't do as a corporation, to supposedly guarantee the service remains available.
Beyond that, they operate on their own at no cost to us, as taxpayers. It's actually a very common perception that's 100% wrong.
Kinda funny when you consider all the money our govt. gives to so many other corps who could give a rats *** about the citizens that pay for all those special grants they squander.
My ol' lady has worked there for the last decade. :face-icon-small-win

IMHO, the shutdown has a bigger effect on the stock markets, than the people and that's mostly conjecture and panic. We should be shutting more down and tightening up all the loopholes and abuse in the system. I've read that all that squandered cash could have us back on top of our debt within 16 - 20 yrs, without any loss of services or reduction to existing programs.

Doh! I said I was leaving this political arena. Sorry... :face-icon-small-dis

Reeb, I think it would be far easier in the long run to scrap the Obummercare plan, and have a new plan created with input from all sides, one that is fair and beneficial to all, and that won't kill jobs and the economy, and will drive costs down, rather than trying to repair the current 2700 page disaster.

That is if we could ever actually get those F#%KSTICKS in DC to work together for the good of the whole country. As they were sent there to do in the first place.

No problem Biker, I was just clarifying you can call me as you wish and I don't take it too personally.

Trust me, I've been called far worse :face-icon-small-hap

Idea for Repubs and O'care

I heard this idea this afternoon....

Right now the House has tied the Continuing Resolution to delaying Obamacare 1 year. That will never fly with the WH or the Senate.

Instead they should turn the tables.

They should tie the CR to cancelling ALL waivers and delays the WH has already granted to their favored friends.

The best way to get rid of a bad law is to strictly enforce it.

Thoughts?

Brandon, my thought on that is that our economy is still extremely fragile and barely recovering. I am afraid of the detrimental effects that it could have to the economy right now that would send us back into a recession tail spin, and this one is taking far to long to dig out of as it is.

No Sir, we've got one here I've always wanted to try. Any good?? Don't like white guys???

Only one I have ever heard of is in Billings. Excellent authentic Mexican food. Not much English spoken but they will get you what you want without much problem. Not sure if the like or dislike white guys but they seem to like white guy $$$.
