Is there any chance to actually get rid of obama care???

What about all the long waits for care, and procedures you can't get up there that cause canadians to come to the states for healthcare because of time constraints or they just cant get it done because it is deemed not a neccesatiy. These are things we have heard about your system. True or false???

This is part of our problem. We "Americans" are really in to fast service, fast food, fast everything. We also LOVE our doctors. We go when we fall down, when our nose is running, when we have a fever of 99 deg, we just can't stay away and rub dirt on it.

Some how we need to get out of this habit of running in for drugs and attention every single time we sneeze.

Maybe a little standing in line like our friends to the north would be a good idea, if you have cash to go to china for a eye ball replacement go for it. but not here and not on my dollar. (of course the eye ball replacement was just to change the color of the eye not medically needed) :)

I love how all the big bargaining members were all backing Oblah blah and now they are back peddling like their is no tomorrow.

Scary,

Ted Cruz is filerbusting the senate over Obama care right now..call(ask your friends and family to as well) and ask your senator to support him.

Here's a interesting fact I haven't seen anyone else put out there yet about obamacare...one of the big deals was the no deny for preexisting conditions right? wrong..every policy I have looked at here so far shows that all preexisting conditions require 12 months of intact coverage before any coverage will be offered...in other words if you change providers or don't plan on buying insurance until its needed..you will be stuck with every med bill unless you buy the insurance and then set on it for 12 months..then they will cover your preexisting issue like normal.....

This is why I will likely have the same job until I die....Because of my (and my wife's) preexisting conditions we can't afford to switch from the group plan at my work to something else, because I was accepted into the group plan several years ago. And for me to change employers means starting at the bottom wages plus having crappier insurance that what I have now.

My employer currently pays part of the premiums, but I still pay between $500 to $600 a month for health care. But our "plan" is a "High Deductible" plan with a Health Savings Account. My employer contributes each month to my HSA, but my family deductible is $7500 before the insurance pays for anything. Luckily we are able to have my kids qualify for Healthy Montana Kids, but even then they don't cover everything, especially for my middle son who is a special needs child and some of his needs are not covered by HMK. The money deposited in the HSA by my employer is about 1/5th of that deductible, the rest is up to me.

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for what we have. The worry my wife and I have is that my employer will "opt out" at the beginning of the year and leave us holding the bag for our health care needs and be denied because of our preexisting conditions we were supposed to be covered for. It wouldn't be so bad if our deductible was lower. When I had extensive surgery done on my ankle about 6 years ago, my deductible was $1000 and then 50/50 for the next thousand. Otherwise I'd have paid almost $12,000 if I didn't have insurance. And with my son's special needs along with my wife and I's problems we end up meeting my deductible EVERY year.

This is the real fear right now. And it should be like you and other said look what the BIG guys are doing, they are talking about giving you as the employee a credit towards a out of company plan. Then over time that amount will continue to be the same as the premiums for Obama care continue to go up. So you slip farther and farther behind every year.

As a company this is GREAT plan, If they can budget lets say $400/month per employee to get you on your own plan, the company has a fixed amount they pay, and they write off as a tax deduction. If the company is self insured they NEVER know what the medical cost for it's employees is going to be year to year. So this new option is a huge win for them. Of course they are going to push you into it.

So like you said, plan on it happening, maybe not this year but shortly.

Also, I think companies that go this way will open the door for people to move from one company to another more freely. Question: how many people are in their jobs because of the health care they provide?, how many are still with the same company because they have retiree health care, or other pension accounts. As companies cut these options people are WAY less committed to staying. So the training and investment that the company has into an employee is washed down the drain. It will take a few centuries for them to figure it out. If you want good people, and you want good people to stay you will need to treat them like you want them.

There will be some negative fallout from Obamacare, that's for sure. But, the one thing I wish people and the media would quit ASAP, is calling the Affordable Healthcare Act (AHA) Obamacare. After that dipsh!t, moron, fu#khead is out of office, I DO NOT want to hear the word Obama again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry man, you're gonna hear it forever!!! I just took an Obama, and wiped my Biden!!! :face-icon-small-ton

It has nothing to do with health care.... It's just another way of taxing us again!! Mmm who has all the power for enforcement.... O that's right I just remembered the MOTHER F*%CKIN IRS

This is refreshing stuff to hear from real, non-glue sniffing individuals in society. I find a lot of the discussion on the ACA interesting (annoying). The country is full of "safety net" hospitals that are given tax breaks because they offer basically free care to a certain % of destitute individuals who can't pay. Thus, people who can't pay still get help. Many are training sites that have resident physicians (doing the work of a doctor for SIGNIFICANTLY less salary) that make care that much more affordable and train the future as well. I don't see why this system is ignored so readily. Currently there are actually not enough of these training sites for the number of newly graduated medical students (new MDs). And these sites funded by the feds. I think, without a lot of brain power involved, that if they used a wee bit of cash to create more places to provide essentially cheaper care, we could be on to something. Or not. Maybe we should all get taxed at 50%. Because we all worked to where we are today so someone else could benefit without putting any effort into it. Not. I have sent monthly letters to any representative I have access to informing them I want no part of this. I wish they listened once in a while...

And while we are at it, I thought of another interesting idea recently. Why not have some responsibility involved in getting this care? For instance, if you go the ED instead of a vastly cheaper clinic visit (in other words the illness you have did not warrant starting with an expensive workup), your personal taxes are increased. Etc. I believe the world of psychology calls that conditioning, or learning. Imagine...accountability involved...shocker....

My oldest son is a resident orthopedic surgeon in KC. His wife is a resident pediatric in KC as well. I get an earful now and then about entitlement, the AHA, and healthcare in general. I feel their pain looking forward in this f@cked up country. The favorite part of his job is patching up gang bangers for free at county hospital. He says they are especially cordial and thankful for the good care they receive! NOT!:mmph:

Just so you know our a$$hat pres calls it Obamacare. So.....

It will called that until we figure out how to fix it. When we get it fixed after he and his messed up government cronies are gone we can then call it the AHA act. But as long as it is a freeking mess it will be OBAMACARE.

Considering he's double Ivy League and knew he would only have to be there till noon....she sure as hell went out of his way to make it as irrelevant as possible.

My favorite part was when he was reading Green Eggs and Ham. The irony of that alone almost blew my mind!

I have no idea about Obamacare, however living in Canada, I pay roughly $130/month for healthcare and don't pay for any medical treatments other than ambulance rides. I've broken multiple bones in the past few years, had multiple x-rays and a few cat scans....never paid for any of it.

My sister was diagnosed with MS earlier this year. CT scans, spinal tap, treatments, etc etc were all paid for via her monthly payment that equals less than $1500/year. Without our healthcare, her and her BF would have had to take out a second mortgage, sell everything they own, and be truly poor trying to raise a young son, just to cover her expenses. They are 26yrs old and make healthy incomes in the oil and gas industries.
For that, I'm grateful for our healthcare. If yours is written anything like ours...you may have to wait to get a new knee(unless you wanna pay privately for it) but do you want to take up a Operating Room for your knee replacement when a brain surgery is waiting to use that same OR?

And company insurance is not mandatory, many employers do not offer any insurance coverage, although do pay a tax that matches what we pay, per employee. You'll notice we don't get as sick, take as many days off, or over burden our system nearly as much as our US counterparts.

Like I said, I dunno how Obamacare is written and what laws are coming for you guys, but as it is in Canada....it's not a terrible thing.

wow, its very interesting to hear americians "tell" us canadians how bad our health care system is. Do you know any canadians, have any experience with the system or do you just repeat what FOX news tells you. Canadian health care is not perfect but watching my mother go through 13 brain tumors (before the age of 50) and watching my step-mother suffer from MS for 25+ years has shown me that i wouldnt ever want to live in the states (or any other nation) that cares so little for its people. Both of them had good jobs that they lost due to illness and guess what, they didn't have to live on the street, they didnt have to wait in line for years and didnt lose every single thing they had. wow, that sure sounds terrible to me!!!!

maybe obamacare is not the right plan but you know what else isn't the right plan, being selfish and cruel to people in a different situation than your own. Americians whine about all the free-loaders until they find themselves in the same situation, then its not free-loading anymore. If you don't like obamacare, maybe find a non-retarded member of the senate (im looking at you Ted Cruz) to try to fix the plan instead of just throwing it away and burying your heads in the sand (until you get sick and die from no health care).

sorry if this post may enrage many of you americians but that's unfortunate...if you really want, u can always come up and shoot me...dont worry, i have free health care to get fixed......happy sledding suckas!!!!!

I'm gonna assume you are directing this post at me since I am the only one I have seen in this thread that has talked about the American view of the Canadian system. And, if you would go back and read my posts you would see that I clearly stated all I knew about the Canadian system was hearsay. And, that I asked for people to enlighten me on this system because I would like to know facts about it. But you go ahead and flame away all you want. Really doesn't matter because Obamacare is not going to be anything like the Canadian system (based on what some of the friendly neighbors to the north have posted about it). It is not going to lower insurance rates, it will raise them. The estimated rates per person throught the exchanges is $250.00 to $550.00 dollars per person per month. And as far as I know, there will still be deductibles and either co-pays or % paid by the patient. That is a far cry from $130.00 a month with no further expenses. Now, add on the fact that this program is decimating jobs, hours, and benefits in workplaces across the country even before the program is implemented. And probably the biggest thing we working Americans dislike probably more than anything is the ongoing continual growing intrusion of the US government into our personal lives. This country was founded on the principals of minimal government involvment in the lives of it's citizens. That principal is all but gone. Now regarding your comment about being selfish and cruel to people in different situations, you are way off base there. Americans have no problem helping people truely in need or going through a bad patch. Welfare programs, and taxpayer paid government assistance programs were never initially designed to be permanent never ending paychecks. As my dad always says, they are a hand up, not a hand out. What we do have a problem with, and what we are totally fed up with, are the people in this country that are perfectly capable of being productive members of this society, but have made the decision to just sit back and feed from the government trough their whole lives. Obviously you are just far more compassionate and understanding than we Americans, so maybe we should just pack up all those people that we don't want sucking our country dry anymore and ship them to Canada, you'll take care of them right.

Thanks to those Canadians that have offered fact and insight into this discussion rather than just coming in here trying to start a fight with their first ever post on this forum.

Hussein is LIAR.

you can keep your doctor

it will be more affordable

the care from your provider will be improved

Its amazing how this man can stand there and bold faced LIE......and whats even more amazing is how people actually believe it.

2016 can come soon enough!

mtxsummitx, i wasnt really replying to your specific comments, just the overall rhetoric in the thread. Yes, it was my first post and yes it was inflammatory but after reading all the posts in this thread, i thought that was the tone everyone was going for.

you do make some good points (hand up vs hand out) but at the same time you did seem to think that we canadians dont get good health care, wait in long lines and have to come to the states for our needs which is just untrue. i have yet to meet someone who had done this (even tho i live 30 minutes from the border) and the only place i've ever heard anyone say this is on Fox news.

i do agree that programs such as health care, welfare, SS, etc are abused but throwing them away completely doesnt seem like a great answer either. In many countries (such as mine), we actually limit how long people can use most of these services and it seems to work pretty well.

The point i'm trying to make is come up with something that does work, not point to a bad example and say that it will never work because 1 plan, 1 time, did not work perfectly.

also, i really do hope that the republicans get into office again in 2016. Not because i believe any of their ideas but because most of the folks that believe what they say may actually get a taste of what they believe in and i think that will be the most bitter medicine of all (please disregard if you make over $1 million annually as it will not apply...:D)

The only time we see is playing out, is when corporations have an existing healthcare insurance plan for their employees, and/or are unionized. All other forms of business and employees really aren't affected.

Yeah I'm really gonna miss:

- watching the IRS target conservatives
- having the government try to take my guns
- watch the "ZERO in charge" trample on our constitution
- watch the best health care system in the world get destroyed
- being spied on by the NSA
- Liberals trying to block real job growth
- watching the current administration LIE and cover up scandals
- see other world leaders look at us as weak because Zero has no balls
- out of control government spending

Its been a blast.....did I miss anything?
