Is there any chance to actually get rid of obama care???

I'm out. I'm a Canadian. I get taken care of when I need it. And if I WANT it, I go and pay for it.
You girls can argue about Obamacare all you want. Sometimes it's like talking to a group of 14 year old girls about what lipstick to wear.

It's too bad you feel that way Reeb. This is how problems and disagreements are supposed to be resolved in America. By people getting together and having open disscusions about the issues, expressing their thoughts and feelings about a particular matter, until a resolution that is equitable for both sides can be agreed upon. I'm actually a little surprised that we are 3 pages in on this discussion, and it has surprisingly stayed pretty civil. If we can do it, why can't Washington??

Unfortunately, that is not how Obamacare came to life. It was passed as a midnight back office deal, and nobody really has a clue what is really coming down on us, 2700 pages of legislation that was crammed down our throats.

When Nancy Pelosi was asked what is in those 2700 pages, her response was "you will have to pass it to find out". Is that any way to govern??? Does that sound like Democracy at work to you?? The government has no right to force its will upon us and tell us that we have to purchase health insurance. For those that have used the argument that we are told we have to purchase auto insurance, you are comparing apples and oranges. Auto insurance is not to protect you, it is to protect someone else from the damage and injury you may cause to them, so no comparrison please try again.

If this country was doing well, making $$$$ hand over fist, have huge surpluses of tax dollars left over every year, than great let's take care of everyones medical needs. But, we are not doing well. Wake up people, we are broke!!! We are 17 Trillion dollars and growing in debt!!! There is no end in sight to the waste of Washinton DC. We cannot afford any more programs that require money that is not there. Someone needs to close the government checkbook, and foreign countries (i.e. China) need to quit loaning us $$$, They are not doing us any favors (and they know it) they are leading us closer and closer to our demise.

The well is dry, and the good times are over for now. Unless this country wakes up and realizes that and buckles down, cancels Uncle Sam's credit cards, and goes from a country living on wants, to a country living on needs, we will soon be Greece.

You've obviously been thru Billings, you think Border Boys is good (which it is) You should eat at Mabels (pronounced MA BELLS) in Laurel. It is better than Border Boys

I will give it a try on my next run from Idaho to South Dakota.

There is nothing good about Osamacare!

But your point above is the best alternative....it should be treated like car insurance.....let the companies compete for our business and drive down cost.

State and Federal Insurance agencies RESTRICT insurance companies from multi state competition.

If you were still working WCB would have taken care of this. Sorry but Retired and old takes a backseat to working and able.

I was still working when this happened , but I was not on the job when the injury occurred. NO WCB. in any case WCB claims go into the same waiting list as the non WCB patients. WCB tried to set up a fast track for their claims but the government cancelled it , saying that was creating a "Two tier system", which is contrary to the principles of universal health care.
There is only one screening process, the surgeon can decide who he performs surgery on first...depending on his own personal criteria. Even if he puts you near the top of his list (on the fast track, like I was for my shoulder) the system is so backed up you still have to wait a long time.
Here in Saskatchewan the employment status of the patient is not a factor in how long you have to wait to access the system. Thats why it is called "Universal Health Care". If you are a lifelong welfare recipient you go into the same waiting line as a the owner of a large company who hurts his knee playing beer league hockey.

yea and the line of older Canadians waiting in line at our local hospital to schedule MRI or the latest thing, stenting... because they can't get the service at home.

Check who you are buying from!!

One of the things we are seeing is with the exchanges... don't buy on price alone. Here is the challenge... some of the insurance companies that are in the exchanges have no or a very limited network. Simply said you buy the insurance but no one will take it. If you live in an urban area probably will not be a really bad problem but in rural areas could be a major problem. This happened to my brother years ago when his company went with a non-blue plan as it was cheaper. When he contracted cancer many providers would not except the insurance so he had to pay up front and then seek reimbursement from the insurance company. Main message check out who you are buying from as the insurance may not help you much if you get sick or injured. If the insurance plan uses a blues plan network you are in pretty good shape.

I have been told by family in Tennessee there are two Obama care providers and the cheaper one has no agreements outside the state.

So a truck driver gets in a wreck in Illinois has to pay out of pocket then request to get reimbursed if a resident in Tennessee. :gossip:

How many Bad Reps did he give you Allied??? LOL, he gave me 5!!!! He is the only person who has ever given me bad rep. Sorry to have hurt your Obama loving feelings PINELANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got bad rep for my post on this thread from some dude named Robster who doesn't even have a dog in this fight, he's from tax love'n Europe.

You called it right. Pinelander has 0 posts on the forum, Robster is a Snowhawk guy with a few posts, probably Snowhawk Addict using an alias.

Found this thread because it was on the top 20 list sent by SW via email. Interesting.

I gotta say is that people don't like change and this thread is a perfect example. Some people fight every step of the way and then 5 years latter can't remember what they fought over. Steam trains, postal delivery to your door, emissions controls on cars, DRL's, etc. The list goes on.

I know Canada's system has its warts but I have to wonder about you guys down south when your life expectancy is starting to slip compared to Canada, and your cost of delivery of health services is WAAY more. Everytime I go to the States all I see is health care ads, lawyer ads, health corporations vying for business, etc. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the cost of advertisting, senseless litigation, corporate profits, etc are all costs that end up somewhere.

The States has technology second to none, no doubt, but that's like saying Ferrari has the best technology - what good is it when its only accessible to a few? The Canadians you see in the States using your services can pay for what is a luxury - they don't represent 99% of the population. It's like driving around town all day and seeing one out of state license plate - of course you're going to remember it! lol

Viagra is a good example - develop a drug to give guys chubby's whose wives probably don't want them to come near them! lol

Anyways, back to the ranting and lack of listening that makes this thread an enjoyable read!:argue:

You sure wont find me signing up for this crap. They get enough of my money as it is.
