IS it a bad thing when the motor makes a funny noise and seizes ???

You wanna know what seized his motor? When he wasnt looking, I put a 99 Powder Special 700 in there  Worked like a charm!

How did you fit an entire snowmobile inside that powertec 800 Nate?:D But yes, those sleds were so solid I think they would ruin the insides of any engine.

I know the time line of what you and Don have had for sleds..I have ridden several times with you and Don. Someday maybe Cat will be the sled to have and Skidoo will be at the bottom and I'll LOL to myslelf when you dog them. Lighten up a little, this website is making you defensive...I wasn't jumping your a$$...I find it commical. If you want to talk about it more I ride same places you do every weekend. Todd

Todd ol Buddy, getting my Dad going?:)You are mistaking Doo lovin for Poo bashing! I think Polaris is a good sled, very relable now that they seem to have a strong crank.I just am not an IQ fan, great for many but not me,it feels like an old traiking arm sled with no swaybar which I hated.Have you bought a new one or still hanging on to the Edge?We wil have a 07 Dragon for sale in the spring!Polaris may get me back but not with our current Dealers or the Chassis they have now.

Isnt that always the case when you take it in though? "Ohhh that sure is odd, first we've ever heard of this happening" My favourite is when they stock the problematic parts in the back haha

TA & Vertical-If you hate the Dragon so much why not adjust the suspension to your liking???? You can drop the limiter strap, move the handlebars back, etc. You keep complaining about the ride yet do nothing but ride it the way it came-setup by a poor dealer by you own account.

Exactly! You complain about your local poo dealers, but won't put the effort into getting the dragon setup. This maybe the reason it doesn't run or handle the way it should.
BTW I have seen the 700 dragon outperform many revs all of the 05s and some 06 and 07s in the deep and steep.

That would take effort and time away from the beloved skidoo and may cause it to out perform the god sent skidoo. Therefore no time will be spent on the poo in order to make it run to its full potential. Just a hunch:cool:

Sell them on Ebay and buy some custom valved Zeros from Carl's. I put some on my Dragon and it doesn't ride like a beach ball anymore on hardpack.

hate to spend BIGGG BUCKS on shocks , we only occasionally ride the dragon,,plus its for sale in 3 months

So lets put this in perspective for everyone:

XP - belt and clutch issues, hand warmers quiting, requirement to "clean and break in belts", and now weak nuns, and for T/A a blown motor.

07 Dragon - front shocks not so good and unable to tune.

Yep, that settles it for me, the XP sounds like a way better and more reliable sled:rolleyes:

Sorry T/A but the really bias folks are always the last to know.

I'm not brand loyal but I am dealer loyal and with that I can somewhat see where T/A is comming from. I've been riding for over 20 years but in the last few years I see more doo folks willing to defend a POS with fuzzy logic more so then the other brand loyalists. I've been there and switched brands as well and I actually like the doo's and want to see them succeed but this new XP has issues.

lets put this straight..
Dragon
poor shock tuning
motor cut out when pinned { we had to fix cause the dealer didnt have a clue and we talked to slp to find out what was wrong.
clutching not right again we fixed not the dealer..
rear suspension sucks on the trail.
seat sucks on the trail...have i got your attention yet..not the all perfect sled..
08 dragon , not enough out there to see if they have any problems..
XP over 10000 on the snow right know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry TA thought you'd been at this a while! There are a lot of easy suspension adjustments-I gave you two. Drop the limiter strap one or two holes-get a longer strap if necessary; move the riser bar back like you did on your Doo so that you sit back more on the seat. Then you might need more preload on the rear springs. You can send the shock to a dealer that can adjust it-try Carl's Cycle in Boise or someone in Salt Lake. There are more things like the Zero's & Holtz but they cost so won't mention them. I don't know what those trips to your dealer cost in time & fuel but you are spending extra money on the sport like it or not.

It's ironic that you run down your only dependable sled every chance you get -if it's that bad do something about it. I found the stock suspension set up on the Rev bad last year for my taste/riding style but doubt anyone else is interested in that story.

Hope those old Polaris scars heal someday.

hear anything on your motor

just curious on your motor. My self i have blown motors up from all manufacturers. stuff happens, so just curious, as to what caused yours.

skidoo replaced my top end twice last year on a 06 summit.
