First car!

Something doesn't seem right.

That is definitely true. The guys with the girls don't have time for cars or to wax their 20" rims. Also, they let their women drive them around (paying for the gas too).

Don't hate the player, hate the game.. lol

Sounds a LITTLE backwards.

Ya while your driving, your not riding b*tch and your getting to have all the fun. I may be young and dumb, but I ain't stupid :D

No, then X will dislike me even more haha

I like ya I just like to mess with ya too!

Here is an idea, if you have 30k burning a whole in your pocket for a car, donate a portion of the money and then get a car with the remaining.

my first car was a 72 maverick with a 351w.

paper route and the neighbor folding my ID card so my birth date was unreadable so i could be his helper delivering furniture for Better Home Deliveries. RB FURNITURE. I 15 making $8.00 hr. just sold it 3 years ago.

This thread is awesome.
I'm going to make the "$17 gangsta" poster my desktop.
Minten, it's your money (or so you say), spend it how you want. If it were me, I'd spend $10,000 on the car and invest the other 20k. But that's 40 year-old me talking. 25 years ago I would have probably bought a $5,000 car and spent the rest on weed and beer. Then crashed the car.
I will say this though: If you buy the Grand Cherokee, you better have another $10,000 socked away for all the stupid little sh*t that's gonna break on it. Because you're going to need it.

Charging narwhales. Again, this thread kicks a$$.

This sh*t is hillarious!!

My first car was a 96' F-150, had 79,457 miles when I drove it off the lot. When I parked it today (7 years later) it had something like 177,000. Been a great truck. Yes I beat the crud out of it when I was younger, and again last Monday:face-icon-small-sho. Paid 7800 for it, split about 3 ways between me and my parents, on the agreement I took care of all the maintenance/repairs.
Was even able to start a little investment thanks to this rig; some guy backed into the door and dented it. No way was a new door worth the 1900 insurance payout, so I added a little $$ to that and bought some shares of mutual funds at about the market's bottom 3ish years ago, now its done pretty well.

"25 years ago I would have probably bought a $5,000 car and spent the rest on weed and beer. Then crashed the car."
I lost it on this one!!! bahahaha

I'm still young myself, but there is some solid advice in this thread. Pick up a vehicle for under 10k, save or invest the rest, and have tons of fun. I'd either buy a brand new micro car that gets like 35mpg or a decent used half ton or 3/4 ton pickup. SUV's get about the same mileage as a half ton but are useless relative to the truck.

I bought a 1966 Fairlane GT 4 speed for $250 (it was 1973). It was in bad shape but I fixed it up and my Dad (who was a mechanic at a Ford dealer for 45 years) and I rebuilt a 428 for it when I was still 15. Once I had my license I really didn't get into too much trouble in it, just a few 10 over speeding tickets. I sold it, bought it back and sold it again, the last guy destroyed it. At that time I was 17 and purchased a 1970 Mercury Cyclone 351 W 4 speed for $1200. I still have the car, here's a picture that looks exactly like it.

25 hell, 5 years ago I had bar tabs for the summer that hit 5k. Never did crash but I did get to visit the judge and jail and impound lot.

Anyone ever had a Chevy Chevette, DIESEL?

My buddy had one. Red 4 door. BLACK tinted windows.
It was awesme. He put WIDE back tires on it and jacked it up a couple inches. Put a sound system in it with 15" subs. LOL.

Imagine THAT thing cruising Higgins Ave in Missoula on Fri and Sat night with a 4-some of eager swinging dks.

One thing about it, it jumped fairly easily, but it blew the shocks out and flaired the front fenders. Lol From the front it looked like it was holding its breath.

Now THAT is what a first car is all about........

my first truck was a 1968 chevy c10 long box 2wd. The summer i turned 15 my dad and i put a 94 chevy 350 in it with vortec heads, edlebrock air gap intake, 600 cfm carb, and a turbo 400. 323 gears, and she was a burn out monster. May have been a one wheele wonder but hey, when whats better than rolling to school in a 40 year old truck with glass packed 3" exhaust right off the headers? hard to beat IMO!

I ended up selling it and driving my moms 05 yukon for a while after she passed away. Then i traided it to my dad for a 96 chevy truck (got ****ed). Then after 2 years i bought a 03 duramax. ($1000 down and a signiture loan). So had a loan for $14000. Had it down to like $13000 and traded it in on a 06 duramax plus $1000 cash (roaly f'd the car dealer). Then i put probubly $3000 into that truck and sold it for $23,000. Then bought a 06 duramax, dumped $5,000 into it by lifting it, big tires, exhaust, cadillac grill, bumper, subs, efi live.... then 2 weeks after i owned it the engine blew up. So now it's 7 months later, and another $6000 down the drain to build the engine, and i have a $30,000 truck infront of my shop i can't drive.

Moral of the story. Find a nice $2000-$6000 car/truck. If you **** it up, it won't **** up your plans for the next YEAR of your life. :face-icon-small-win

After owning more than 30 vehicles, i can honestly say you can get your dream car/truck and never be statisfied. Hell, i am getting used to driving old beaters and it ain't bad.
