First car!

Well most of the money I have made is from my dads business or chores. Also stocking up on my allowance.

I actually have been thinking of investing. Trying to get my parents into housing but that's not s good investment.

If I could do it over.....buy the least amount of car/truck that you need and the most house you can safely afford. I make decent money and refuse to spend much more than 30k on something that will take a beating going over the pass every weekend and getting used like a truck is meant to be used. A $60k truck won't do anything a $20k truck will do.....except leave you a lot of cash to buy other toys. JMO.

I have a vehicle that will be way more versatile than any city car. I'd love to sell it.

Buy it and put the rest of your money away for your future.

My first vehicle was a 87 F-150 (ext cab long box). I paid $3,000 for it and I can remember working my *** off as a 15 year old to be able to buy that. But I also remember the look on my dad's face the day we brought it home and the first thing I wanted to do was service it to make sure everything was OK.

*funny thought* I remember how big of deal it was when we would run up to that cabin for the weekend back then and I had to fill two 19 gallon tanks of fuel and the cost was under $40 to do so. I remember the shocked look on my friends faces when the fuel bill would be $45 to fill up the truck AND a couple ATV's. Yesterday to fill up my 31 gallon avalanche and two atv's the price was $145. :frusty:

Minten, your going to find that a lot of the members here on Snowest have worked dam hard to get where they are at in life. There are very few that have had a silver spoon to eat from on their way. I'm sure you can search back and find all of the young kids that used to post on here about how much money they had and what their parents would buy them. You'll notice that none of them are here anymore. Just some thoughts for you........

'78 chevy stepside bought it for 1500 not running. many years of hard work and made it what it is today, dumped more $$ into then i should have... need some pics.

as northMNsledder said. you will find those who post like this dont last.

its not worth to buy a $30k car, your way too young for that, save it for future when you need it most. You can buy a up to $10k nice car or a junk car with 4 doors that can fit 3 chicks in it or get a old diesel truck with loud exhaust make you look badass in high school. (That's how we roll in small town, Iowa!) Because its your first car which mean you will screwing around with it, have fun till you end up in the ditch, blew your money away.

My first car was 1996 dodge intrepid was gave to me from my parents when they bought a new car.
my senior year, my dad bought me a second car, 2000 Grand Am GT, 2 doors.
Third, I bought a truck 2004 silverado crew cab with my own money.

Worked every summmer, weekend, and many after school/sports nights in my dad's shop from the day I turned 11 years old until I graduated high school. When I was 14 (school permit, lived in country) I bought a 1991 Ford Explorer with the money I saved. Still have it to this day with the odometer reading just over 10,000 miles. Only I know that it has rolled over 3 times though. The money I saved by not buying something nicer helped put me through college.

Buy something cheap kid. If you're like the rest of us, you'll have a lot more fun beating the crap out of something for a few grand. Any high school chick that cares what you drive isn't worth your time, and you're male classmates won't think you're a spoiled brat.

I cant imagine earning 23K by doing chores and helping out. I think your perception of reality is much different then most people. I hope the trust fund doesnt run out for you becasue reality is going to suck.

First car 1970 GTO Judge. Worked my butt off for years for that car. Wish I never would have sold it

This ^^

Fancy first cars go right up there with bass systems in cars. They are cool for a while, but aren't really needed when getting groceries or parts for your snowmobile...

It is just a car. Since you never had one, buy cheap, as cheap as you can get away with and put that money towards a better part of your future.

1976 Mercury Grand Marquis. Old family car. Senior yr, load up on sat night, 5 guys, 5cases of beer and hit the parties within 30 miles. With a 460, we never got stopped. It died finally with 185,000 miles. Was even driving the speed limit.

My first car was a Plymouth Horizon TC3. I can't remember what model year it was. It was either a 79 or a 1980.
Yellow body with black accent.
It looked just like the mid 80s Chargers. The really stupid Chargers. One thing about it, it jumped fairly easily, but it blew the shocks out and flaired the front fenders. Lol From the front it looked like it was holding its breath.

All of my vehicles.....in order. Google even round the right colors....almost.

I bought a '64 Chevelle Malibu SS by myself. Came limping home with it running on 5 cyls. My old man wouldn't let me keep it in the drive, had to park it in the street. Left me enough money to buy a '73 Polaris TX though. Sled costs more than car. Car long gone, still have sled.

30k on a first car? For a little kid? That is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard of. Are you sponshured?

Take some advice from the ol' timers. Buy something that will get you through school and invest the rest in school or CDs (and not the music ones), Don't get govt bonds, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Thanks Obama.:boxing:

And if yoo gots wayz to make da coyn, maybe share it wit the ol' guys. I'm sher there are some peeps that could use a way to make 24k fast.
