I agree with ya. But, take a tour thru the high school parking lots. Nicer vehicles then I may ever have. I can't see how they make the insurance paymts, let alone vehicle. My boy is gonna get the 95 buick le sabre. Told him to keep it clean for school in 5 yrs. (wasn't impressed) haha

FWIW...

Back in the day, I grew up in Newport Beach California.
There was NOTHING in the least bit uncommon in seeing

BMWs, Mercedes, Porches, and all manner of BRAND NEW Sports cars in my High School Parking lot.

When mom and dad had big bucks, they more often than not shared it with their kids.

Just a fact of life.

Don't know the story with Minten here.
But if he made it into MIT, as his facebook page says, then he isn't rock stupid.

And lets face it, which one of us at his age didn't want a new car?:face-icon-small-hap

I grew up pretty blue collar in the suburbs of Detroit.....

My first car was what I could afford with the Detroit News and Detroit Free-Press paper routes savings since I was twelve.

1972 Woodgrain Pizz Yellow Pinto Wagon... (AKA, 4 wheel birth control)

I got ways of making money. And I'll go into my dealer soon to see how cheap I could get one. And I feel good that I'm buying my own vehicle. My parents said you buy your own or.well get you a price of chit. And I'm looking at MIT and my parents will also help get me through that. I literally got told they'd kick my *** if I didn't go to college.

Good thing MIT doesn't have hints of using the English language properly in the name.

We had that same car in blue when I was a kid, the wood grain really classed it up! It was followed up by a bright orange mustang 2 with white vinyl interior.... Very classy!

He's 14!! He can't even get a dang permit. No way in Hell he got into MIT. Go back and read his posts. Can't even spell. We have another Sl3dsavior on out hands here.

And the guys are right, no matter how loaded the parents are, no kids deserves a 30K car. And what kind of kids in California had fancy expensive cars. Worthless, spoiled kids who wouldn't know an honest and hard days work if it kicked them in the A$$. The hardest thing they ever did was pick their own outfit for the day and cover a pimple.

I totally get what your saying. 30k and I'm paying for a good majority of it ( about 23k). You learn on the car you will have for 200k miles and you will be comfortable with it from the get go.

The fender bender part is also true. But the thing is. It won't be me that causes it.

Shut up. Really. Just shut up.

LMAO! That was my first car too. Cept that mine was silver with blue interior and I found some mag wheels to pimp it out. After I found out that wasn't a cool car, I sold it and went to a Mustang 2 also. That also was a Pinto of sorts cause it was about as sporty as a tricycle with flames. Traded it for some 16" mag wheels for a Jeep Honcho with a 460. Got rid of that when the block cracked. Got a Ford LTD and then it got smoked when some tard ran a stop sign and hit me. Then I got a Ford Ranchero and traded it for a Jeep Wrangler, traded that for a Ford explorer which got traded for a 1999 F150 (my first brand new truck) drove the piss outta that, paid it off and got my current F250 SD (7.3l) which I plan on keeping for a long time, since the old diesels are better than the new ones.
Somewhere in between I had a VW Golf and a Bug.

I wasn't even aloud to drive till age 16. When I turned 16(two years ago) I got the 1985 Oldsmobile. It hardly drove but it got me to school and back and 2nd base on occasion, but thats beyond the point.

Now that I'm going to college my parents got me a ford focus which i love because it gets 30mpg and does what I needed. My parents saved a bunch of money by having me drive that old pos, so they could afford to get me a decent car when the time came that I needed it.

If I was you, I would invest in the market, and see where it gets you. I invested 1000 into the market back in 07' and by 09' I had 5grand which I prompty bought my very own snowmobile.

Also, Minten if you got 23g why are you trying to sell your overpriced 600 for 5,000 saying you can't take the hit?

If you had a 30k car, her panties would magically disappear and you would come sliding into home plate. Just sayin

Well said young grasshopper.

Paid 4k

First truck was a 2001 Ford Ranger parents gave it to me.
Second was a 2005 f150 traded the ranger in on it had a part time job all through high school to pay it off.
Third is a 2007 Ford Explorer, traded the f150 straight across for it.
Not sure how much I like to whole SUV thing, might be looking to get back into a truck here soon.

My opinion on a 30k first vehicle, don't do it. Not saying you need to get a 500 dollar car if you have 23k cash, but 30k is definitely over the top. IMO I would get a truck around 18k still nice but wont get you all the fancy leather and navigation shiz. I can say it is nice to have a decent vehicle in high school. I would then do what everyone else has been saying and invest or save the rest of your money. I'm starting my junior year of college right now, its effing expensive, and having some extra cash is nice (although from the sounds of it you won't have a problem paying for college).
