Another avalanche!... Killed my buddy

His family is taking it very well though. Sledding was Dave's # 1 fun! They were happy that he was doing something he loved when he passed....And he was, he was really stoked to be riding and just super happy to be up there yesterday.

Man that was a tough read, very sorry to hear about the loss of another sledder (or anyone for that matter). Best wishes and prayers to the families and friends involved.

Hi Ken, I received an email from Daves wife this morning about his passing. Threw me for a loop all day at work. I got in contact with Dave through the original BCSF board a few years ago, then we exchanged emails and ride photos on a regular basis. Never did get a chance to sled with him (don't think I could have kept up!), but met up last fall for a quad ride into Faith to do some trail work. If he rode his sled as hard as his quad (which I'm 100% sure!) he definitely lived for it and was good at it. He was out-riding all us younger guys on the technical stuff, sure didn't show his age, not that he was old by any means!

I am very sorry to hear about his passing, and my thoughts to you, Daves family and all his friends. I can't imagine the emotional pain you must have gone through on the hill, or what his family is going through. He will be greatly missed, I know for myself I will miss the emails and regular pics he sent.

Here's a pic of Dave he sent me from a ride last spring, thought it was a good one of him.

Wow, that is a good pic of Burrito!........( Burrito was our nickname for him) He'd always send me pics but usually never of him, just others or maybe his sled and scenery. He was a die-hard ski-doo man! I think he was happy that we gave him a ride out on a new xp for sure!

Burrito was what I knew him on BCSF.

This must have been the day he brought the new toy home! Had it customized too! :D

Just heard the news Ken, so sorry you had to go through that...I can't imagine!

Condolences to all Dave's family and friends. I never had the chance to meet him but he sure sounds like a great guy and one who truly loved the sport!

To let a fellow rider pass in vein would be a shame...let's learn from this one!

Ride safe everyone!

Ken this upsets the sh!t out of me. Is there anything all of us can do..Should all sledders get together for a anual ride for the peeps who have been lost , and at the same time advertise and support avy awareness...? Every thing feels kind of helpless when we are not in controll. So many are being taken by the love of our sport...I wish you all well in these trying times...:(

How about a In Memorial sticky with pics of the accident victims and their stories? It will serve to honor and put faces to their stories and hopefully seeing that thread every forum visit will make us all a little more cautious when riding.

Sorry to here about that Kenny......it's crazy...the season has barley begun and there is so many avy's already......everyone keep it on the safe side.......not worth it.....

WOW! Can't even imagine carrying out your friend and having to tell his wife.

I hope we all think twice out there in the backcountry. Sleds are going crazy places these days. I'm sure accidents will still happen but I know I'll be staying off the big hills and spending some more time practicing with the beacon this weekend.
