2023 cat. Where is it?

So if that’s not outclimbing what is? If they’re buried and you’re at the top what is it?

Hard a$$ snow nobody gets stuck in goes to the drag racer set up not the outclimber.

My powder extreme could tromp king cats to the top on hero snow but sure as hell couldn’t be considered a contender on real days.
It’s usually more in the trees or techy riding when we have those situations happen. When I think of out climbing I think more of steep hills open enough to hold her open and shoot up the hill. Even though they’ve never got anywhere I couldn’t eventually get to, I don’t think I could hang with turbos in a point and shoot deep snow climb.

The day I had in mind was 40-100 yd wide strips with no trees, very steep, headlight deep powder. Had a few small transitions they were getting caught on 2/3 the way up. One factory turbo doo failed three times. All better than most riders. If it was firmer they’d have carried over with more speed than me. I’m not one sitting around saying man I wish the snow was firmer, so I’m pretty happy until the next upgrade comes along. It will.

I’ve got full bmp set up and belt drive and I’ve never thought it lacked on top end.

Had a few nice running turbos myself before this sled.

I’m not saying the turbos don’t shine at high elevations, obvious reasons for that. I am saying I’ve yet to see the factory turbo that wows me out of those I’ve been around.

if cat came out with a 900 or larger, or a turbo the alpha would be ridiculous. ive out climbed 850 doos with my 18 cat, the axys seem to climb much better than the doos, but now with the other two offering factory turbos and people buying those turbos cat does need to do something to keep up no matter how good the current sled is. people want shiny and new things not same old same old even if the same old is really good. 900 ctec carbon fiber hood and belt drive and i would snow check for sure.

Without a doubt single rail.
I own more twin rails than single. For now…..

My son rides an 18 twin rail so pretty much exact sled as mine but twin. Friday we were on some big drifted slopes that were warmed to 50* then frozen to 5* which is a pretty solid block of ice.

We took turns running angles and just test maneuvering since it was too crappy for anything else. He had a brand new 3” pc track, first trip after leaving his old one on a log.
We both found the Alpha more controlled unless you romped too hard. Could actually carry more speed with the Alpha with proper throttle control.

We both have Mohawks and exact same shocks.

Mine walks all over his in deep, and I’m more than twice his size. Little bugger got taller than me this year though.

Hard enough we both had an eye on the temp gauge, he had a tendency to heat faster than me.

Which is the hard reality of everything now. If you haven’t experienced it yet in other areas you will.
Ag supplies started getting shorted bad last fall.

Cat definitely needs a new/improved chassis/engine combination this year. People are eager to spend and there’s been a influx of new riders.

If they want to capitalize on their ROI nows the time , not next year. Textron didn’t buy cat to run it into the ground like some are speculating.

Local dealer sold 60 doos in a day.
Doo is doing something right to sell over priced toys in a record amount of time.

I think my estart mountain max was weighted at 584. If they don't come with a new chassis and came with a turbo it would be well over 600 ready to ride. Creeping into 4 stroke territory. Hell the rev was 580 without estart in a 151 almost 20 years ago. Tell me they don't need to do something

XP chassis doo's are lighter than their new sled. came out 15 years ago. they all go backwards sometimes. Cats electric start option is horrible. they need to start there. Yamaha made one called the SL "super light" and its just a mountain max without e-start.
