2023 cat. Where is it?

It is my understanding they fired all r and d staff. It appears textron has done nothing to move forward with snowmobiles. I expect BNG a few more years, then fade away. Really a shame. A 30 lb diet and the alpha would be fantastic. Very good sled right now, but I can’t imagine getting in bed with textron. They could care less about snowmobilers or the snowmobile business IMO, but what do I know.

So...do they have the luxury if not competing because of the sale and the relationship with yamaha or text-only or whatever OR are they (new owners) just gonna get rid of them and don't care?
Covid, labor shortage, part supply issues, still delivering 2022 models, ect ect ect

Not sure of Textron's motivation to start with Arctic Cat. Companies are in the business to make $. The top guys either make a company profitable or make it look good on paper and sell a time bomb to the next guy. Be hard for Textron to sell arctic cat to an unsuspecting buyer at this time and they are not just going to close the doors any time soon. Guessing Textron was at least interested in keeping at least part of the business since they started rebranding by slapping Textron on stuff(turned out to be a stupid idea). Guessing they were the unsuspecting buyer this time. Time will tell if leadership will make Arctic Cat better or worse. Obviously though they know nothing about marketing to our segment. I guess they are not used to needing “ambassadors” on the instagram to sell helicopters and airplanes

Hmmm...well I can say from the outside looking in that artic cat is the only manufacturer that really isn't trying to attract the new school "snowmobile athletes " which after never have riden a snowmobile to trying to mountain ride , is a very real thing. I would have said before that it was an "extreme sport" but now I think it's a extreme finesse sport. Yeah no way to know their motivation but if they are only concerned with bottom line it may not go well. If they want to be great then having the aero space background is huge!! Let's hope an executive gets hooked on snowmobiling and charges hard!

Out of town trip I broke a break lever off on a log. Stopped at a poo dealer with a few cat parts as it was a out of way location.
Asked if he had brake lever for a cat. He turned and grabbed one off a long row of them behind him, offering stock or billet upgrade. That’s a lot of brake levers I commented. Yup, we’ve learned to keep a pile of those for the cats and a pile of motors for the Polaris guys……

That’s all the advertising I need.

Keep in mind this was a poo rental shop.

Not fired, some left, some reassigned, they just hired back some that left, they are working on the next sled, its ready, just delayed because of covid crap and supplies issues, I suspect mostly BNG from all manufactures this year, mostly

Polaris didn't hold back on releasing new models because of Covid, and I'm very confident Doo is going to be releasing something big tomorrow (actually met one of their big name guys who has ridden it). No reason Cat should continue to remain complacent this year, they need to step up and drop something big as well or they're going to fade away to a point they can't come back.

A 5th year of basically the 2019 models will be extremely disappointing. In that time, Polaris has released a greatly improved platform and Boost, and Doo released boost and (likely) a new platform.

Just one of many. Supertrax did an article with them and it was stated that the trail sleds will get updated suspensions first. Cannot change everything over night. Being how competetive the Alfa already is as in able to out climb the mighty turbo's, not sure what the complaint is about. The gauge? Cat has it in the Garmin Tread. Transferable to other toys. Not so much on the Polaris gauge. It goes with the sled when you trade. Just my opinions on that part.

Mine has.
No excuses.
Still loving it.

Traction matters, motor is not a slouch.

I love my 18 and dont plan on switching brands at all but i also have no real reason to buy a new one when the 22 isnt much different. it wouldnt take reinventing the wheel for me to snowcheck either but why spend 8 or 10k to trade up if its just a different color of what ive got.

Maybe at lower elevation but not at high elevation i ride at. I assume your talking about doo turbo. My alpha was not even close to my doo turbo at 9300 ft.

7-8k
been at top watching both poo and doo t dig out below.
Had a doo NA sitting beside me at the time.
Deep powder day.

I won’t say my na alpha will out climb turbos, but we have definitely had days where the na sleds were not getting stuck while the turbos were. Of course us na guys had to rub it in a bit.

So if that’s not outclimbing what is? If they’re buried and you’re at the top what is it?

Hard a$$ snow nobody gets stuck in goes to the drag racer set up not the outclimber.

My powder extreme could tromp king cats to the top on hero snow but sure as hell couldn’t be considered a contender on real days.

No reason for BS, If I was getting left behind I’d be upgrading.
I've had 3 years on alpha and have a mountain max. Also a 2020.5 doo turbo and 22 boost. Doos trench and alpha has more traction. Alpha has good bottom and mid power. Sugar snow i would beat my buddy's 2020 163 kaos with 154 alpha. Deep fluff was a different ball game. 22 kaos has even more power. Alpha is lacking. Did see muskoka race alpha with a doo and it was close. Put them on a hill with bigger load and not so much. turbos stuck below means crappy riders or crappy set ups. Not trying to discount your ride at all. Just saying the alpha is no miracle. Cat needs to step it up or their gone.
