2013/14 Snowy Range snow conditions

Heading out today from Iowa. Looks like we may have good snow!! Thanks for all the reports guys, means a lot when traveling from Iowa.

Ten Mile Report

Dan, so glad I met you while I was out here. Your reports are great!!!

Guys, if you are heading out, snow is pretty good from the storm on Monday. Yesterday was bluebird skies and we found quite a few areas with deep deep snow. Looking at the mountain this morning, it is already dark up on top so it should be snowing anytime. Weather guy out here is calling for 6 to 12 but that usually means twice that up higher. Thursday should be AWESOME!

We are headed out for MC today. That area looks like untouched and Ken here at Ten Mile tells us the snow is really deep up that way.

Thanks for the reports guys. Leaving today for the first trip this year and it looks like conditions will definitely be favorable the next few days.

We got back from the Ryan park last Sat. morning after riding for 5 days and headed back out to the east side this Sat. the thing I wanted to tell you all is that last week we have seen so much surface hoar (ice crystals) as we saw on this trip around Kennedy Peak they were an inch long. As well as in the trees off of X and U. Just want everyone to be safe as that could make for some very unstable snow pack with the big dumps this week. :face-icon-small-dis
Be safe and keep the rubber side down.

We had a blast yesterday. It snowed most of the day. We hit Trail MC and jumped from small lake to small lake. Some of them looked like they hadn't been hit in weeks. We did so much carving, I could hardly lift a beer last night. Snow was over the bumper all day and it looks like it snowed most of the night with more snow on the way.

Snowy range ski area reported 17" new this morning. Wish i wasn't in school! Be careful out there there are avy warnings out just across the border in CO.

We had the best day of riding EVER!!! Holy deep snow. We basically spent the whole day on U and N. Thank goodness I bought the Pro because I would have been stuck a ton. Even the Pro doesn't perform miracles. Wish we didn't have to leave tomorrow morning. I sure hope they shut down I 80 so we can't leave :)

By the way, we had to be pushing 40 inches on the trail on the way home (Trail N from Queally towards Ten Mile). Tomorrow should be incredible. If anyone out there has the power, please close I 80 so we have to stay another day!

Rode today snow was good but starting to set up already. It was snowing all day but didn't amount to much just that overcast kinda day. The snow was deep in the trees though.

Lots of trucks at Green Rock today but I saw only a handful of sleds. Great snow stiil to be found in the trees. Lots of untracked.

Snowy conditions for us this week

Arrived Wednesday night - it was snowing
Thursday morning - 18" new snow, kept snowing, visibility poor
Friday - blue skies, 6" new snow, no wind - top 5 day ever!!! Carved it up!:D
Saturday - good day until about 1 pm - started snowing and blowing again with bad visibility. Don't know how much new snow they got.
Lots of vehicles in Greenrock Sunday 8 am when we were leaving. Good riding!

Go figure - the snowpack numbers are up this week:

The snow was awesome in the trees on Saturday - we had a blast! Nasty wreck on 287 just north of the Red Feather turnoff Saturday evening - upside down truck and camper. Hope everyone was OK, it looked pretty bad.

Went up for awhile today, doesn't appear to have been much new since I was last up on Sunday. Maybe 4"s, good news is that it was snowing pretty hard and the forecast for the next few days is encouraging. Lot's of untracked areas and it's still nice in the trees.
