2013/14 Big Horns N/S Snow Conditions

Any good riding in the southern horns?
Like west of Buffalo?

Never read anything about it.

So what's the best plan?
Had a buddy stay at Meadowlark a few years back & he would never go back.
How far to unload if you stay in Buffalo?
Then is it good from the parking lot? or miles of marginal to get to snow?
Some tips please!

I like deer haven lodge. Never had a bad experience there yet. They have a few hotel style rooms and some cabins, fuel, bar and restaurant there as well. If you choose to stay in buffalo, Depending on weather and roads you would be able to unload in about 45min to 1.5 hrs. There is enough good snow right out of any parking area around powder river pass. Gets a lot better the father you go up the trail though. Big parking areas at, baby wagon, maeadowlark lake and some at deer haven lodge. Plenty of parking along the hwy as well.

Really don't care where I ride........I am jonsing for some seat time!

Just weighing the options & trying to make the most of any time I take off.

Went up Saturday and found some great untouched North of Deerhaven. Stayed at the cabin Saturday night and rode today and found much of the same snow as yesterday. Plenty of good snow still around!

Just rode the Hills and the Horns. I'd go to the Horns at this point.

we have been going to southern horns for many years Deerhaven is plain and simple, never had to much for issues, great riding area.

Do they have fuel at Deer Haven now? A few years ago you had to go over to Meadow Lark to get fuel.

No. You have to head over to meadowlark to fill up

Chilly -14°F this morning. But it looks like the sun will shine, at least for a while, and warm things up. Our guests, who are riders and kiters, had AMAZING experiences yesterday. Folks coming in for lunch were saying the snow is deep, deep, deep!

If the additional 15" materializes Fri & Sat., the weekend should be great

Staying in Buffalo & trailering, where would you recommend staying?
Big enough parking lot so the trailer isn't a hassle.
Steak House within walking distance a bonus.

Where would you unload to ride?

Thx.

Holiday inn express.

Winchester steak house

Baby wagon
Meadowlark lake
Deer haven lodge

How long of a drive is it to these spots for trailering everyday? Looks like Buffalo has some inexpensive lodging and we are being a cheap *** this year.

id unload at powder river. Snow should be good down in there. My favorite place to ride. There is a motel 6 right next to the holiday inn that should be cheaper if that is what you are looking for. x2 on winchesters, but better try some dash inn if they are open as well. I have also heard that the co-op has non ethanol fuel. Not really any place in town to get oil so bring what you need along with parts.

Ten Sleep would be a lot closer, looks like they have a steak house saloon and a few hotels, anyone stayed there recently?

Ten sleep= tiny. Not sure why it's closer for you. Kinda the long way around id say.
