2013/14 Big Horns N/S Snow Conditions

Another fun weekend on the mountain with the Destination X crew and Back Country Navigators! Busy place up there but plenty of untouched stuff if you venture off the path.

Can't wait to head up again!

Anyone been on the south side? Rode out of Deer Haven last March and had a great time. Looks like they are getting some snow this week but not sure how much base they had.

I talked to some people on the mountain last weekend that ventured that way and it sounded pretty weak.

Anyone interested in showing us around saturday? We've been to the horns before, but always interested in seeing new areas. I would sure buy you a few drinks at elk view or bear after the ride. I don't mind being pushed either! We will have 3-4 guys riding, all with western riding experience.

Wondering if there were any groups going up 14a tomorrow that I could tag along with? (Saturday). All my buddies have to work.

Great snow over the 1st! A solid foot of fell on us at High Country new years eve night. The snow was almost too deep for my son and his summit fan. He is a trooper and never gave up even though he got stuck a lot. Great riding and I really enjoyed staying at High Country Lodge again.

Went up 14a today, road had been bladed off so it was in good shape. The snow was pretty good everywhere and a few spots in the trees were awesome. The easy meadows were all tracked up so you have to explore for fresh stuff, but it is out there if you look for it. Had a great lunch at high country lodge. Was a great day overall, looking forward to more snow to cover up the tracks.

1.4.2014

It has been an amazing few days!!

NY Eve was a blast at the Lodge and the snow fell right on cue for the folks staying with us! A FOOT.

We have gotten a few inches here and there since then. Last night we had 3" fall, with more predicted through Sunday night. We have a base of about 64".

The riding has been great. Howard went out with some guests NY Day and disappeared up to his waist a time or 2.

Here's hoping 2014 bring us LOTS of the white stuff!

Split Pea Soup, Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork on for lunch today, see ya then!!

1.5.2014

COLD! -20°F right now, without the wind chill factored in. Wind is blowing hard and steady.

Face mask day for sure.

No substantial snow to report, maybe an inch or 2.

Spaghetti buffet for lunch today.

Stay warm out there!
