Rode up Dayton gulch yesterday and was able to find some good snow. Out in the open the snow is thin and hard but still a lot of pockets of powder back in the trees if you venture away from the trail. I will see if I can figure out how to post some pictures from my phone later.
On another note I had a similar experience at Elk View Lodge as mtsummitx posted earlier in this thread. A lot of times when it's cold outside and we have ladies along we will park at Elk view and get dressed inside where it's warm. That was our plan on Sunday as well as getting some breakfast there. As soon as I parked an older gent came over and asked if we were checking in. I told him yes, checking in for a day of riding! Now the parking lot was pretty much empty at this time but this guy said that he was the manager and that unless I was staying there that I would need to go park in the public parking lot at Bear Lodge. I then told him that we were planning on getting some breakfast there and probably eat there after we were done riding for the day. He said that didn't matter that parking was for motel guests only. After a little unfriendly back and forth exchange I left and went over to Bear Lodge and parked in the public area. It just frustrated me because I have stayed in the hotel a couple of times, ate there numerous times, bought fuel there, drank in the bar, but apparently I'm not welcome to park there. And once again the parking lot was pretty much empty on a Sunday morning.
I know this is a snow conditions thread and that mtsummitx got flamed a little for a post like this but I still wanted to share my experience.
