2011/12 Togwotee snow conditions

First, it is snowing! Looking like we may even get 7-10 out of this one.

I reread my above post and realize I sounding fairly pessimistic and like kinda an azzhat. Anyway, I have lived here and been a HCS for 18 years. Only twice has the JHMR not gotten over 400 inches during that time. In the last 4 years, 3 of them were records with 550 inches 2 years and the all time record of 605 inches another.

This season reminds me of 3 or 4 years ago. Got huge snow in November, then it dried up until January 18th. Then it started, and it snowed for a month straight. Got over 200 inches during that time. Overall, that ended up being one of the years we did not break 400 inches, but the riding was epic for the late part of January through February and into March.

I am as frustrated as everyone because I bought a new sled that cost more than some cars and want to be out ripping it up as much as anyone.

Looks like the weather is changing next week and a snowy pattern is coming. Don't cancel trips, it will get good and stay good once it comes, it is just tough right now. :)

I ride alot and will do my best to keep updating on conditions in and around Jackson, Alpine, Pinedale and Togwotee.

snow

Will be leaving the 19th for a 10 day trip regardless of snow conditions. Hope the forecast holds true next week. Anyways at least there is snow in tog can't say the same for central mn where we have brown grass.

let it snow!!

Catweasel i hope your right about the spicket. We will be in tog next fri, staying at the cabin across from lava mtn. Can't wait.

Been at Togwotee since sunday. We got 4-6 inches of snow on tuesday night up top but at togwotee maybe got 2. Riding has been decent. If your lucky enough to get back through some tight spots in the woods you can find some 4 to 5 feet of untouched powder! Isnt the best conditions ive seen out here but a whole lot better than Minnesota! Definately worth the 16 hour drive out!

Rebook are dates from Jan 14-21 to Jan 28-Feb 4 just didnt want to risk the 18 hour drive from Stillwater MN but looks like snow in the forecast for late next week. Let it snow baby!!

Go to google maps or mapquest and use the give directions. On google i just typed in togwotee mountain lodge and it poped up and i selected that one. If i remember right it was something like 368 miles.

So avoid going through Cody?

Remember, the road through the Beartooths and Dead Indian pass are closed in the winter, as is all of Yellowstone. It is a bitch getting there from Billings in the winter.

Right but as long as you come down to Riverton and up to Dubois your fine right?
