2011/12 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Anyone have any current pics? Thinking about heading down there this weekend with 2 friends never been to the area any info would be appreciated

Anyone got any current pic's? Was up before New Years and had some decent riding, low snow made it a crapshoot if you were gonna come home with everything straight. Saw on B.L. website that they got a nice dump on the 31st, looked like a foot or so.

No pictures as we haven't been up. Watching the snotels and from what I have heard, it is probably iced over in open spots and deep but bottomless in the trees. It was pretty windy here yesterday and would imagine that it blew all the fresh into the trees.

Has anyone been looking at the forecast for next week? Finally! :)

After seeing a forecast like that I can't help but smile! Too bad I start school next week :(

We have a group of ten headed to bear lodge next sat. hope they get dumped on next week we are from nw iowa we have bare dirt here havnt even rode yet this year.

We rode Thursday though Saturday. We mainly rode North West of Bear Lodge. There wasn't a lot of fresh snow in the open areas from the wind that came through on Wednesday after the fresh snow fell. However, in the trees we found some pretty good snow- enough to get my 163 Pro stuck. Most of the trees we were in you could still see the trail from there. It took a little bit the first day to find the untouched good snow but found enough to last us for the rest of the trip. The farthest west we got was around trail LH on the northern H trail. Here's some pics from this weekend. They are also calling for more snow this week too.

no snow in southern horns

Dropped off today at deerhaven. looked bad for snow and got worse toward battle park. went through paint canyon and by the time we got to where the groomers were running again the snow was getting deeper. but my partner hit a rock and bent some iron so we went back to deerhaven. loaded up and went home. have not put pics on snowest for a while. thought maybe it improved over the years. anyway if you go to the horns there is no base. you are going to knock the crap out of your sled on rocks and stumps. but it does not look any better anywhere else for that matter. i hit a stump in the black hills last weekend and bent a front track shock and tore a track. best to wait for snow and a base.

Had a buddy do the same thing up there last weekend doesnt sound to good. I dont think i will be riding up there until they get feet of snow.
