2011/12 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Reports from a bunch of locals I know... Last storm did wonders. Areas with 18+ inches of new. Had wind so alot of valleys wind loaded with windshield deep fluff. Alot of areas rolling over hood fluff!

Is the snow good enough? Would it b worth the 15 hour drive from wisconsin next week? Had a trip planned to alpine. Frantically looking for a new place to go since we all have work off already.

yes it would be worth it if you could get a room.... All booked up for new years but after new years all good i bet. I've yet to go there and not find good snow in 5+ years. Always find it. Its there but you cant just expect to be 30 seconds off the trail like alot of guys do.. They complain snow sucks yet we find over hood deep stuff.

Was thinking on making a trip to the Horns sometime soon. What are the areas with the best snow that people have found that have been there? Sounds like the last storm was a good dump and a much needed one at that.

Hey we are headin to the horns for a couple days then headin out to another spot depending on what has good snow.. noticed the temps are lookin high for awhile for sheridan..like mid 40s and possible rain?.. dose this effect the big horns or is it usualy colder up high?

from what ive heard chances are if it is raining in sheridan it will most likely be snowing or doing nothin up top....temps will generallly be colder up high atleast i hope.....dont need 40 degree temp up high three days before i head out haha

Just checked the weather, chance of snow everyday starting tuesday through saturday. About time La Nina kicked it into gear! Planning on going up monday, i will try to get some pictures up. Got to go break in my new klim boots that santa brought me

Keep us upadated. Thinking bout leaving friday for the big horns. Just want to make sure the snow is good before we spend the $ to go.

Sounds like conditions are getting better all the time!

Heading up in an hour or two, 4 days at the Elkview.

Snow was amazing over the week thursday 18" of untouched and Friday the only touched was us. If you were up saturday most of the tracks you saw on the lovell side were ours. Went back up yesterday and it has settled alot the meadows are crusty and you have to search more for good snow but it is definately still good in the trees and the secret holes
