Conditions Conditions Conditions

Well Guys I realize something here on this forum. The ones here most of the time are the guys who love to snowmobilbe but live a couple days drive from getting into the riding areas. I feel for you all. I used to Be pissed when I came through Dubois and there were rigs lining the streets with out of state plates, usually Brand New Diesels with sled beds and four place enclosed trailers full of ten to fiteen thousand dollar snowmobiles. It made my crap really look bad. I now see that it is the love of sledding that keeps you guys hoping for that next ride and watching the forum looking for conditions and trying to plan stuff for that perfect ride. And your set ups are what you work on and spend money on when you can get out and ride. Thus You spend most of the time working and improving you sled and a little time out here riding as where I spend a lot of time tearing through trees and breaking things here and there on my sled then I spend a little time trying to fix this stuff so I can get back on the mountain next weekend. I still stuggle to know which I want more the newest nicest sled with all the fun crap on them or the luxury of driving an hour or two and being in one of five or six of the best riding areas in the country and doing this once or twice a week all winter long.

All this to say I feel for you guys that can't ride in the mountains every week and I will try to keep a few more updates fo TOG on here.

So I was up above brooks last week end. The snow is good. Out in the open the snow had a pretty good crust on top but The trees still hold a ton of great consistancy powder just enough to keep the ride smooth and exciting but still ridable without a lot of digging your budies out. We went into some of the High slopes but the wind was up and the snow was corniced so without visibility it was pretty dangerous. The entire time we were out the snow was falling consistantly andtemps are low so it should produce a champagne like powder top. I have more reports closer to Jackson that the snow is awsome and alot more fell last night.

I should be up Saturday so If all goes as planned I'll try to get ya another posting next week.

Untill then keep those sled shiny and remember were glad to see ya come and ride and were glad to see when you get you fancy smancy stuff headed back home. Just a joke guys. But seriously Visit Dont Move.

I want to apologize to all for not keeping up with conditions. Yes, it has been a monster year for snow. Seems like I'm riding the same areas over and over cuz the snow keeps coming and the tracks are always covered. Tough problem to have. Last week we got a 3, 4, 14 6. that 6 was pure powder. Not a hint of wet.... wow...I hope that all of you riding in other places are having a great winter. not everyone can switch gears and come to Togwotee but this year its worth it. I got a little concerned a while back seeing so many new faces riding my powder (LOL), but Ma Nature stepped up and blasted us. So I think its come one come all. We are the place to be this year. Not exactly sure totals, but its over 15 ft. A few places are tough for hunting cuz its so deep its tough top get out of. Another tough problem to have. Ride safe and I'll do better at updates. Back on the mountain tomorrow for another 15 day run.. any questions please ask, or PM me...later...

Carter Sez.....

I missed a few things. The areas close to the CD trail are the first things always ridden and the first things you all see. We have a big area to ride and lots of places that never have tracks. Some need the knowledge of a guide to get to and some just plain guts to try to get to and back from. Whatever the case great riding... you can't let a few posts of tracked up discourage a trip here. This year it ain't tracked up. The special nature of Togwotee Mountain is alive and well this year. 2 weeks ago the storm front was hooked on the mountain like old times. Snowing on top and by the time you got 7 miles down range it was raining. blasted on top and clear roads at lower. 10 and 12 ft road banks. So get your butts out here....more later...::face-icon-small-ton

True, I have a 19 hour drive to get there. Just picking up and heading out when the big snows hit, is not an option, work, family, blah blah blah. We pick a week to come out, and hope like hell we get great conditions. Following the posts here helps a lot. We went to the Snowies this year, it was good riding, but it wasn't Togwotee.
