Guess what?? It was turned in to police yesterday and it's in the mail. Someone found it a few days ago in the woods and called the cops.
I have no idea what shape it's in but I'm sure it's not good. If any gun can handle the out doors for 5 months it's that one as it's mostly titanium, aluminum and stainless. I will send it to S&W to be restored.
I am such an idiot!!
Sweet! I can't believe we missed it...we searched that area pretty well...must have been in one of the track ruts covered up.
Eric
Man I'm happy you got your piece back. I thought it was a goner for sure! Good feeling that there are still some people out there who will do the right thing and return lost stuff and not keep it.

sorry if it seemed like i was ranting drinking the bong water and a gun ohh boyit really bothers me when people think you should not need a gun in the woods.i pray ill never need it but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it and i just thought id post my opinion 5 pages and 4 months later so for the people that dont understand go back and read all 5 pages.
Looking forward to see pics and hear report of gun condition.
BTW, a google search quickly confirmed the National Park rule does not take effect until Feb 2009.
