personally i do not see what the thing that everyone likes about an arctic cat. I think it is mostly the name. everyone is always saying oh look at the m series they are so good. sure they might have some benefits. I ride a 2000 mm and i keep right up with the m7, but at the end of the day i still feel i have the better sled. why pay 3000 more for something that does the same thing as a sled that is 6 years older. this is just how i feel on the "cat" thing.

I have a little over 650 miles on my sled. I still have the original belt and it still looks new.

I think thats the first time i've heard of a m7 compared to a older style yamaha. I like any new style chassis' just for the fact that your not as sore at the end of the day from wrestling a tank and the riding position is much more comfortable. As for doing the same thing what about the suspension travel for jumping. you dont see the TS guys running wedge,zx,or mm chassis' for a reason. If they were the same
Arctic Cat Baby! Their the best. They perform best out of the 4 main manufacturers sleds. Arctic Cat is the only company that has a logo or main theme actually having something to do with the cold and snow. Ski don'ts...they have a bumble bee for a logo....wow junk, not to mention all the issues they have. Polaris, well what more can I say, its a Polaris. As far as Yamaha goes, don't you need a CDL license to drive one of those?
No one in NW Montana rides cats, we never get to see what they can actually do... They are few and far between
I own both, an '03 MM moderately modded and an '07 M8 moderately modded and I love them both. I find the M8 to be more fun and comfortable to ride though. I LOVE my MM! It was my first mountain sled and i'll never get rid of it but the thing that gets me on the M8 is...what do you call it...TECHNOLOGY! It's simple, you can spend a lot of money modding your MM to keep up, maybe pass M series and be a very good snowmobile but you can't make it as light the M or have a rider forward position like an M. The M's are easier to boondock with, more tipy if you will. Also to make an MM rideable in the snow we get here, you would be better off long tracking it. Now you are adding weight to the sled. Don't we all want lighter sleds? I think weight trumps power personally so why woud I want to add rail extensions and a longer, heavier track? You cannot beat the reliability on a Yamaha though! I've had more fun days on my Yamaha than the M8, of course I have owned it longer and it's always pull and go. I've never been towed out either but i've towed my share of sleds out with the MM. It all boils down to the old chocolate or vanillla, chevy or ford....you get the point.
I am talking power and the basic climbing..the day that i went i rode everywhere that the m7 was going..no problems..i can buy three of my sleds for the price of 1 m7..or i can take the money that i saved and put it into the sled to out perform the m7 all the way around...plus you have the knowledge and more self accomplishment of doing all of it yourself..that is just my thinking..but basically it all comes down to what you prefer and like the yamahas all the way around...good and reliable but with plenty of power and different options that you can get out of them..that is just my opinion the subject
