Which sled should I purchase the 2013 Pro or 2013 Ski doo

The only Doo I popped was my hot rodded big bore XP......but, as peeps from all brands will tell you, they are blow up at some point. The way a Rotax pulls from the bottom to top is very, very addictive compared to a Polaris.
Under boost, they all fun:face-icon-small-ton

As a 20 year die hard Polaris fan I love my 2013 pro. With that said I took a spin on a XM and it was awesome. Gobs of power, but a LOT of room for improvement on clutching. Also I'm curious how the XM will handle on set up snow. It lays over very well in the powder but may be too tippy otherwise. Definitely take them both or a spin, and let us know what you do.

I have both to ride. 2 XMs in our group and a Pro. Last year it was the same but all 12s. The guys who say the Poo is underpowered are just "feeling" it. I ran our 163 XP and 163 Pro last year side by side up hills. Tried to make it as fair as I could. Just start from the same spot, roll on the power then pin it and see where they ran out of steam and they were always so close you couldn't really pick a winner. The XPs had clutching and the Pro did not. I have ridden my new XM and I am super impressed. So easy to ride in tough conditions and it really claws its way to the top of the snow. That track is amazing even in a straight line. My buddy's thought my riding had gotten a lot better but I have just bought some talent. Great Ski Doo dealer close to me at I90 Motorsports too. Have not ridden the 13 Pro yet.

Hello, I just joined the forum and have been reading a lot about all the sleds and peoples pros and cons on them. I have never really ridden before but am looking to get into snowmobiling and originally was thinking of getting a pro before reading a lot about the new skidoos. Now as far as someone who has never really ridden a sled, which one would be better for a brand new person who learns quickly and does not want to get bored with a sled and replace it the next year (something ive done with motorcycles). I am looking for something reliable and will last at least a few years with no major problems. Sorry for the thread jack.

Thanks

I have rode both and I would go with ski Doo. The XM side hills awesome. I had an XP last year and hands down it is a way better machine.
The pro is lighter and it is fun but you are right the power is way different. It is not as responsive. The one thing that the pro has going for it is it likes to jump and is very flickable.

LeviD start a new thread, your post is lost in this one. You are going to get lots of different opinions. Buy an 800, I'd recommend the XM. All the sleds are good but the Pro is having issues and I'd wait for that to sort out. Not sure about Cats, last year they had real belt problems. Get a 3-4 yr warranty, insure it, leave it stock, take all the clinics you can afford, take an Avy class, buy Avy gear and learn how to use it and find good people to ride with. They will show you the ropes and save your butt.

Go with the Doo, amazing how the poo finally handles and sidehills much better and its design is alot like The Rev Chassis Doo that came out with the starting of all the riderforwarding technology back in 03` or 04`. Sure skidoo has new tracks that are all wider proven better lug design, new rear suspension, front suspension narrower frontend riderforward more, farther feet forward more power have came stock with electric reverse since 03` etc..etc........... because it Works.

The poo is a good sled also but I wouldn`t buy a new sled that has close to the same power as my 04 Has now. Yes it is lighter stock for stock from 04-2012 but, you can lighten the doo to close the same weight and add a bunch more power for less that 12k

Sorry just my 02.

I have been out of the sport for like 4 years trying to get back in. How do I go about getting to test ride them both?

Plan a trip and go. Rent one ride it for two days, then rent the other and ride it for two days. If you go with a friend who is willing to rent a sled for the trip, rent one of each and then you can both trade off and see the immediate differences on the same conditions. One will shine just slightly over the other depending on your riding style.

I don't know your experience or skill level, but there are some small tips of the many that can be picked up by the "Schooled" DVD series by Deviant Film.

IMO this worked well for me. Good luck in the hunt for a new sled.:fencing:

Which one has a GOOD dealer closer that has a reliable and talented service department?

This picture says it all. Almost 10000 KM of hard mountain riding on Ray Mason's 2013 163 XM with one belt change at the end of the season. Try to find a Pro with that many K on it that not has the top or bottom end done!

One belt change at the end of the season. That's pretty damm impressive for a belt to last 5-6000 miles banging away on the slopes.

Im not new to riding i grew up riding a Arctic cat just stoppped riding for about 4 years im not a trail rider i like back country riding and techinal riding.. bombing straght up hills gets boring for me i like to weave through trees and side hilling if this helps anyone to give me the best answer i do not want to buy any used sled as i have before and you never know how they have been rode before.

Thanks

If you like trees and technical riding, the Pro is the best out there hands down! it was purpose built for technical Riding!!

If reliability is high on your list go with the doo. Overall Poo is not even close to the reliability of a doo. Many people will deny this but ask around and you will find out yourself...

id say this is true motor wise (although i havent had issue with my 13 pro, just what ive read) but overall reliability im not sold, the xm's that ive ridden with and read about have had plenty of issues from fuel line leaks, dess keys not working, coils effed, tmotions breaking and even know one guy that had his clutch pooched near the end of season. So id say its hit and miss. But the etec is def better than the cfi800
