Valemount - Mcbride 08/09

hey guys, i'm new to the forum but not to valemount. actually two of us made it into the alpine at miledge but it was almost two weeks ago now, and yeah it took a lot of work. wouldn't recomend it for a while yet, although the snow would probably be phenomenal up top. good luck and have fun to the next guys who try it!

its about 50k out of town. the trail is probly 20-25k but groomed on thursdays so if you ride friday or saturday the trail is a blast and usually in good shape.

Past Allen

It's past Allen, on the way to Blue River. Usually has better snow then Allan or Clemina in my humble opinion. Lots of switchbacks, and trail is usually very rough, ther would be a few washouts this time of year. It is a very good riding area, but it is about a 30+ km ride from the parking lot to the Alpine.

its a very open area..some good pulls in the back. most of it falls back into that main lake area. my favorite area of all. never disapointed me yet. always a couple feet of fresh. some tree riding if thats what you like

hey all.....

We had some really great guys stay with us last weekend and they had said that allen wasnt too bad.......we have had some more snow since then so i would assume its just getting better........curtis from VARDA keeps updating all the time and does a very good job keeping everyone up to date so just want to throw out a thank you to curtis and all the great sledders who choose to come to valemount for some great sledding......Have a great day......Boadie, C/O Willow Burl Cabins.

they do groom it once a week, on thursdays I believe.... it is usually the last area to begin grooming for the season tho. I'm sure Curtis will let us know once grooming has begun there :)

Excellent.

I know it's kind of sissy, but I dont think Im alone when I say I dont like baggin' along a wooped out trail.

I've got some more pictures from my trip to Allen a couple weeks back.

Lot's are from "check the strap" breaks(haha) in the icefield parkway.

They dont pay attn much the last two years. The guys at the Valemount weigh station told us that they were told to lay off and worry about the big trucks and stop screwing with the tourists

Doesn't way anything... ARCTIC CAT haha.

No... Im not sure... not my truck, buddy was just too tired and made me drive the 8 hours.

It's got bags in the back, but even still I guess it could be a little sketchy. Drive past several cops, nothing happened.

All weight scales we passed were closed.

Heard the same thing.....

And not that I am condoning it but with the higher GVW's a lot of the current half tons have in many cases with an aluminum deck and 2 light sleds/minimal gear they are well within max weight.

Also, the fines they slap on the commercial rigs are way more worth their time!
