The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. About 20 inches of new snow has fallen at the higher elevations since Tuesday. Soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth formed by southwest winds exist. These slabs could be human triggered in steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones. With abundant sunshine in the forecast the potential for these slabs to be triggered and for loose snow sluffs to occur on steep sunlit aspects will increase as the day warms.

Snow in the air

Yesterday we had a change in weather. It is very noticeable that the night time temperature has dropped. Which is a great help to Elk season.

I will be at the Washington show and two of my guides will be at the Minneapolis show this year.

We are anticipating the arrival of snow and sleds.

Storm this weekend

The first of our major storms is hitting this weekend. We received already 1/2 foot of snow and expecting another foot. It is amazing that last week we were seeing 70 degree temperatures and today....20 degrees.
