Turbokit VS big bore 85x kit on PRO?

What would you guys do; buy a turbo or a Big bore kit?

Let's hear what YOU would go for, and tell us what kind of sledding your'e normally "doing".

I'm struggling to make a decision for what to buy of those to.
Normally I use to drive in between the threes, jumps, turnwhips, some climbs.. "fun riding".. And some trail-trips, with my girl with me on the sled..

I drive a Assault 155" 2011.

I've had both and suggest the BB, no hastles no tuning and plenty of power for those that can live with a little less than maxpower

Big bore.... personal decision based on the kind of riding I like to do, the amount of different places/styles I like to ride and how much I dislike tuning.

Also, I prefer the ride-ability of a BB... Turbo's ROCK for climbing and the sheer power is certainly fun... but riding trees and screwing around wasn't as fun anymore. If I was an ELITE level rider and trained for riding I'm sure I could handle a turbo in the tight trees.... but I'm not and I don't, I just wanted to go ride!! ;) Call me a wussy for not liking the turbo but the BB is WAY more fun for me!

Whit who, s big bore are you referring to or any BB in general ? Please explain ?
I rode a turbo this year and realized it was not to my liking for my style of riding . Maybe I am just getting to old and can not react fast enough in the trees. I want to try a BB next just to make sure.
It sure is getting weird when you are nearing the oldest in the group and the rest is half your age.

turbo for sure on the IQ chassis but now with the weight and performance of the pro it seems like a lot of people are going with mild mods or leaning towards the big bore. I would say a big bore 2013 pro would be the best.

Sounds like carl's cycle big bore is the best. However, I would to hear more about the rk tek one.

Hallo Ruben,

Since you dont mention highmarking/"kill-the-hill" among the things you value most when riding, I would go big-bore or porting++

Another thing is the fact that these motors are showing less then desirable reliability and a big-bore kit or other changes to piston/cylinder is showing more and more promise. Sadly and totally opposite the old days.

I run a pro with a PAR head and some clutching, REALLY fun to drive "Rasmussen style". If there is one more thing I'm going for powerwise, it's that rip of the bottom!! When I stand still on a sidehill, hold it on the brake then release and give it a fistful of throttle, the sleds makes a jump forward.

Makes for some awesome riding!

Now, if I can get into the high 160 - low 170hp = mission acomplished!!

Ok, I see!
I have an Assault 2011 155", I love the throttle response on the sled! Don't want to loose this; at this moment, that's the thing holding me away from the turbo. I've ordered a PAR-head, it will be at my house in a couple of days. Can't wait to try it on, among my SLP stage 2 kit.

I've been mailing with Carls Cycle the last days, asking about his 900 BB kit. But I haven't made my decision yet.

If someone says, a person with clue on turbo, that I wouldn't loose the throttle response on the sled, I might go for it.

Norway; Are you a member of scooterforum.no? :)

If you are thinking turbo and want throttle response..talk to Neil at boost-it..his setup smokes any other pro kit I have seen for snap and runability..

ballpark, what kind of cash for carls 900 complete with all clutching, fuel control, etc?

5-6 grand is what I have heard for everything to bolt it on..and its what I would run for a big bore if I couldnt do brads 1100 billet motor...

Never tried turbo but talked with Bret Rasmussen in march about his boondocker setup. Told me their electronics can retard timing at boost so Boondockers pump-gas kits run stock compression. Stock throttle response and around 190Hp he says...

And like Ak says, Neils boost-it kits seems to be the sh** on the pro. 2-stroke turbos have come a long way lately.

My own choice for power: http://www.pfracing.se

For 21.000NOK you get:
-PC-5
-Cylinder porting
-Case porting
-Reeds
-SLP single
-"odds and ends"

Dont remember if clutching was included, but I've bought power from Peter before and have 110% confidence in him. One of the few performance shops over here that can advertise with winning titles in drag/hillclimb/snocross ++.

170Hp+ and building power real fast!

With the light pro chassis I dont believe we need more (unless "slaying turbos" and big mountains are your thing...).

Rune, Norway på scooterforumet også. :face-icon-small-coo
