TO ALL SLEDDERS, HERE'S SOME INFO FROM OUR FACEBOOK SITE:

--------------------
Subject: Groomer and grooming will commence this Saturaday (Feb 21) Yippeee

Ok fellow sledders.

Bill Witt will attempt to groom this Saturday and Sunday. After many repairs and breakdowns grooming should be on for this weekend. x-fingers it all goes well.

We have incurred many costs in getting to this point and ANY donation will be GREATLY appreciated. If you can help please pay the groomer operator and of course thank him too for all of his hard work.

Nice day on saturday and the grooming was very much appreciated. Would gladly pay daily to have the trail groomed. I can't see why anybody wouldn't. Thanks again.

Great day Saturday

Like Blaster said x2.
The groomer was out and trails were in good condition. As for a grooming fee; they should just have someone there collecting a trail or grooming fee. I don't think anyone has a problem paying it. It just needs to be practical and convienent.

Thanks Bill for the awesome job in grooming this weekend. As always, all the hard work falls on just a few. The grooming fee can easily be donated at any of the four sledding shops in town.....it's quite simple when you are already there buying oil, belts and misc items. Also I'm wondering how many people ride from town out to the Torpy that don't have memberships??? Now that most of our riding areas are closed you'd it would wake people up to the fact we could lose ALL of our areas without a STRONG membership!!

Groups are always stronger in numbers looks like that might be the only option after loosing all that area, a very strong membership is essential at this point you would think that day passes could be factored in as well. I have seen the closure maps how much riding area is left back there? Kinda hard to tell by the maps i seen.

I like the idea of day passes, or something a little cheaper to pay as I do ride from out of town, and 75 bucks for a few rides at the torpy is a little steep for me. But do think it is important to get the numbers up. I had no idea you could donate at the sled shops as I've never been told anything. I wonder if they've thrown the idea around about having somebody taking money at the trail in. On saturday there was a ****load of vehicles there. Wouldn't take much to throw somebody a couple dollars for the time and possibly cut down on the theft in that area.

Yes, it would be nice if members of the PGSC could just stand out there and collect $ for trail passes!! Unfortunatley, the club does not have ownership of the road in so that's not an option. The grooming out there is done so we can all enjoy the ride into the Torpy, and they have had ongoing trouble with someone stealing very expensive parts off the groomer, and breakdowns. They rely on and need donations....and yes of course you can donate at the shops in town. The owners of the sled shops all ride the Torpy as well and can have the donations fowarded to the club. We are dealing with caribou closures as well....80% of our riding area is now GONE. The membership is so low that I'm sure the powers to be took that into account. If you like riding the area do your part, donate or buy a membership.

ok i know ive been away from p.g. for a while but when did the torpy area become the snowmobile club's private domain? i rode in that area long before the cabin and grooming etc.started.don't get me all wrong here -i can totally support and would gladly pay for day passes (like in mcbride & barkerville)to help cover the costs and/or possibly donate time etc. towards keeping this area accessible . i can and do appreciate a smooth trail as much as the next guy! however- the narrow-minded notion that people who aren't in the club don't deserve to ride in that area(or any other area) anymore just because the club moved in and set up shop causes me quite a bit of concern.there are a ton of people out there who have opened new spots and helped to maintain old spots who aren't in the club because of that kind of elite-est attitude.ALL SLEDDERS HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP THESE PLACES OPEN TO OUR RECREATION.when this kind of prejudice exists you are only shooting yourselves in the feet instead of possibly gaining from additional revenues/area knowledge of us so called dirty "free riders" that ride in these places before they've been "developed by local clubs" .CLUBS ARE A GOOD IDEA-but the crap some of you dish out is shameful and embarassing.maybe if you asked people to pay for a day pass for the use of your trail (on a roadbed i believe isn't legally the club's property) to help cover costs...instead of telling people that helped open these areas that they don't even deserve to be there...you might find that club membership growing by leaps and bounds.till then i guess i'll take my hard earned $$$ and recreation time elsewhere and my letter to the minister will only have two or three names on it.

You missed the point read crewy's post again they are only asking for donations for grooming there is no charge in place and the conservationists or whatever are taking advantage of the fact that the clubs membership is low and using that. Unions work the same way the more membership support= more bargaining power you have to bring to the table if you don't have that you will get stomped. IMO

like i said -i have no problem with paying a donation, fee or daypass(regardless if the club legally has the right to charge it or not,who cares as long as the trail is smooth!).i know that developing and maintaining good trails requires a ton of time and resources. over the years my buds and i have devoted countless weekends (+ broken parts & fuel $$$:( ) to establish trails in different riding locations so that others may easily access and benefit from our knowledge of these routes and places . what i'm saying is that people like myself (a so-called "free rider" i guess) may be more willing to help out with club projects, causes etc. if the notion of weather or not "I" deserve to be someplace (public land in this case) didn't get thrown in my face. people who are representing sled organizations should try to "lead by example" and be ambassadors for their organization, not call people names and presume exclusivity to these public areas just because the club has moved in.this kind of negativity kept me from donating my time and $$$ to the club years ago, apparantly it still exists.sorry i'm so off topic but this just kinda "hit a nerve"... a point to remember...we are all just guests in the torpy area if everybody can't pull together responsibly the govt and the tree huggers will lock us out completely

I don't see anywhere in the previous posts that anyone called you a "free-rider", or called you names. It really sounds like you are really threatened if someone suggests that it would help our cause if more of us like minded sledders stuck together. The club works hard to put together fun runs, and get the groomer set up so everyone can enjoy a weekend out. Lets not forget that we are losing our riding areas, and you will lose that privilege along with the club members that are working hard to keep these areas. You said it yourself that we have to pull together!! My point precisely!!

actually "free rider" was a quote from a couple of threads posted elsewhere (by individuals who are apparently "members" active in the torpy) that i had read through prior to responding in this one. knowing that sledders have dedicated their own time and $$$ to this and the surrounding areas before the club even established themselves there-and then reading these negative comments about these sledders(us "free riders"etc.) sent me on a bit of a rant.... figured the torpy thread area was the most relevent spot for me to vent, sorry again...:o i'm sure the club is doing it's best out there with all the chit going on in that area lately (theft,closures,etc.):beer;:):beer;cudos-just trying to say that before these individuals start publicly hacking on people cause they aren't part of their organization, they might want to think of the guys/gals who broke those trails to the primo riding spots they love to go to -'cause they were probably so called "free riders".the person(s) they are hacking on just may be what the club needs the most (ridership and/or $$$) i've been sledding @ p.g. since '83...payin' ta play and haven't taken a "free ride" anywhere-thx!

whats up with this

Friend of mine came on this Last Sat in the Burn. Looks like a bad tale was unfolded here, I hope I'm wrong but did this machine get scavanged while owner left it on the hill?

We saw that sled still intact on the 14th when we went and got our 900 out of the back end. I guess we were lucky it was under 3 months of snow.

I heard there was a group who figured they could find our 900 and take it home, (obviously not). Maybe they saw the easier target on there way in.

Maybe the owner is taking it out in pieces? I don't remember a broken hood!!

i would love to catch someone doing this kinda chit-and leave them out there for the grizzleys to find in the spring...thought we had about 3 years back:mad: but it turned out some guys had brought an engine in to do a quick re and re-oops!:o . we stuck around and gave them a hand afterwards ...the owner was realy grateful for our help(and vigilance):D.P.S.-oh yeah that pic on your avitar looks familure- was it taken at the top of the first bowl of the "far" torpy looking west?

Saw this machine too, got some pics....call it a sled chop shop if you will. Park your sled here and it will be stripped down to nothing. The engine is siezed....must have had a turbo on it. Story we heard is that it hit some rocks, but we didn't see that many rocks in that bowl to warrant that much damage. Who knows?? Last we saw is that some guys exchanged the seat, so if you see an 07 M with an 09 seat...you guessed her!!

I Heard a story this year of a cat going over a cliff and hanging in a tree on the mountain side. Is that the one it looks pretty banged up.

Yeah, we heard that too. We also heard it hit some rocks. The hood only had damage in the very front....when we saw it the track, rear skid, skis, shocks, can, ECU were gone......someone must have stripped those parts already. The tank was drained dry. Lots of usable parts still left, like the seat, snopro gauge, clutch, pipe, tunnel, drivers. It's funny when we went back on Sunday we noticed that the seat had an 07 M seat on it....so somebody did a swap. I'm just waiting for the MoE to find out about it.....just something more to use against us sledders. This guy that left it should have came back to retrieve it right away. Never thought to take down the serial numbers off the tunnel to see who it belongs to.....
