It was a fully intact sled when we saw it, i don't think the hood was even broken, (could be wrong). Figured it was engine problems!

Maybe it's already stolen, thieves came back for parts?? If that was mine i would have at least put it out of site, even though you shouldn't have to worry being so far from nowhere.

The picture is up the burn, on top of the cornice, above the meadows.

So, you guys saw it the weekend before (14th)? I can't believe someone would just leave it there, unless it was stolen. A couple of the guys we were with thought it might have had a turbo on it. The engine was seized solid. The damage to the front end looked a little suspicious like someone had smashed it somehow. Now we are really kicking ourselves for not taking the serial numbers. Maybe the tunnel will still be there this weekend. Is anyone going up? Hopefully there is new snow to make the ride worthwhile. It was pretty tracked up last weekend.

We saw it on the 14th, fully intact. It looks to me like someone broke the hood off to access the engine.

A friend knows a way into the torpy from the back end off the pass lake road, apparently you pick your way up through the trees and come out in the back where my 900 was buried. I am going to see if he wants to make a trip in there next weekend.

Oh, you were the ones that had a sled buried in there!! Heard about that one too....glad you got it out ok. There's another way into the back end of the Torpy too, way past the cabin but it's pretty hairy in there, especially if there is tons of snow. Haven't heard about the Pass Lk. way, would be nice to bypass the Burn sometimes. We went into the Sande last Sunday....have you guys been in there at all? There was a ton of sleds in there, but really crazy to get in there. Vertical ascent through some big a#$# trees. Gorgeous play area in there, though. Long, steep chutes.

Man I can't believe someone would mess with other peoples $hit if thats the case:mad: I had to leave my sled in there last year at the bottom of the second bowl on the trail with a broken drive shaft.

A different route into the torpy would be nice for a change, the fellow that knows the way off the pass says it's a good loop. You go up into the back end, ride out to the front and then back to the truck, would be a good trip.

I'd be interested to try the way up past the cabin, maybe i'll be able to see some tracks when we go out next weekend.

That chit done to that cat is unreal!!! It was obviously done during the week after i saw it, and the nerve a person must have to haul all those parts 50 some km's back to the truck's. Hey, maybe they didn't take it all out, could be stashed up top somewhere. It would have been quite the load to haul out, because your not likely to haul a skimmer back there. We may just have to take a look around next time we go up!

Stripped M8

We saw that sled in there on the 21st. All was left is the chassis, hood and motor. We were wondering why the motor was still there. It is pretty appalling if someone stripped that sled if that is what happened. But the more I think about it, it seems like an insurance job to me. I can't see anyone having all the tools necessary to do that kind of work on the hill! Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems fishy to me.

Ya makes me wonder too, sounds real fishy. I sure hope something gets figured out, cause it sure stresses a person out if that happens if you leave your sled in there waiting for parts to show up. ( cycle north 3 week waiting period)lol

I caught wind of a group in town that figured they could go in and find my other sled that had been buried for months, they even thought they knew were i stashed all the new parts. I figure it was someone that had been up there one of the times i tried to get it. That's the only way they would have known were the parts may have been.

That cat was not stripped when it first got left behind, we saw it intact, but that day there was tons of people up top. Some time between the 14th and the 21st someone went back in and dismantled that machine. Hopefully the truth comes out soon, it was not far from were mine was buried!!!

I tend to lean towards it is stolen ridden hard and left where it stopped ,stripped by those that stole it and brought it there, but that is just my assumption ,because this is pg and every derelict out there likes sleds....seems like it would be a job for rcmp to recover it

then who would recover the RCMP?:)

Isn't that the truth?? LOL!! Just like the MoE's that are going to have to wait until summer time to put up their stupid Caribou closure signs....so they can ride in pickups of course, and probably have to scout it out with choppers first on our dime.

yes, it was tripped out there, we went on t2 weekends ago and the guy who owned it was with us, the clutch side cylinder seized about 3 seconds before it went over the cliff, it was only about 20 feet down and there was only a crack in the belly pan, he went back to get it and we were going to help him get it out and they looted the track, rear suspension, all the shocks, skis, the ECU, the diamond drive and they wrecked the hood to, it shame, you should be able to leave a broken down sled out there and not have it stripped like that:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Hope he had insurance? I still think there might be some parts stashed up top. That,s a fair bit of stuff to pack that far out, unless there was a lot of them, but theives don't usually travel in large groups.

It's pretty sad when that chit happens, maybe we'll catch someone hauling some of his parts out!!!

I'm speech less, The sledder code would allow that sled to be safe until he returned. I hope enough info comes out to discover the culprit(s), keep up on any info that may help this guy out.

I had heard that the owner of the sled had insurance, when it went off the cliff it was hanging in some trees and he said that who ever can get it down can have her. Im assuming same sled 09 m8 snopro but could be wrong.

I dunno about other people but everything they seemed to take would have been very easy to pull apart with tools that most people i know carry, its a cat, a torx set, 1/2 inch and 9/16 and the sled is apart.
