Snow Show

However I think it is time that WSSA does something about the "Blue Lot". I know many people love the swap meet outside before the show, as I have in the past. But this added bonus is killing the main show slowly. Did everyone see all the empty spots inside? I have talked to dealers and vendors that are "boycotting" the snow show because it basically is not worth their time.
OK my rant is over, does anyone else have any better ideas? I would love to hear 'em?????

I don't think the Blue Lot is the blame for the empty spots inside. I've talked to dealers that no longer come and their story is the cheap-*** consumers. Everyone wants to low-ball or something for nothing.

Being inside is actually cheaper for the seller. $65 for 2 days + 2 admissions. Blue lot is $40/day, so $80 total and no admission.....

Problem is: many attending don't want to pay admission, so many just do the Blue Lot and don't go inside.....Maybe lower admission cost?

Problem is: many attending don't want to pay admission, I want to sell my two $8,000.00 sleds and can't or wont pony up $10.00 to enter the show so I can buy a new one???:face-icon-small-dis

Hey guys,
Snowhunter1, cheaper admission for wssa members that could be a good idea.
as far as cheap arz customers, I dont know about that, there is a few small deals here and their but the prices for most stuff is high. the prices people want for used sleds are too high. I hope i'm not a cheap skate, I buy the things I need, but I think you should walk around and say to yourself (hay thats a good price/ or deal maybe I will get that). I don't see to much of that. I dont know what the fix all is, but I look forward to the show every year and would like to see it be one of the best shows in the country. this year when I got home, both days my wife asked how the show was, I was like eehh it was ok. she said wow I've never seen you down after a show.

It does cost a bunch for dealers to set up a booth, it takes a lot of time, lots of staff, and lots of effort.. We have a great time talking with everyone and sharing. We also enjoy getting new Ideas and meeting suppliers. We love attending these shows and getting the opportunity to earn new customers. We always try to give a "fair" price on things. I think all the dealers should be required to retail new parts and accessories inside the building not in the parking lot or not in the indoor trailer areas Which are half the price....
I also feel more washington dealers would come and support WSSA if the out of state dealers were not allowed..

The worst thing is when people STEAL from us for no reason!!! somebody walked off with one of our Ski Doo GPS kits and our 2 BRP stools that were with our sleds just inside the gate!!

We had a great show and won't let a couple bad apples ruin it!!

Thank you everyone for stopping by shopping, and hanging out with us!

First off huge thanks to all the people that volunteer their time to make this event happen. A lot of good people that really love our sport put a ton of time into this show. To be honest I'm really surprised the swap meet is still anything with everyone on craigslist, ebay and facebook. The internet has pretty much killed all car and 4x4 swap meets and the IMO its only a matter of time before the sled swap meet is killed. Which is sad, but if you can sell your stuff siting on your couch online for more money and less hassle its bound to happen.

From a shop point of few I guess I would like to see more effort to draw in more media, magazines, online web sites and video to help spread the show and whats inside of it. Maybe bring in some pro riders to get the younger crowd excited, huge movie premiers with the riders signing posters, maybe a competition for best sled build, get some more exciting stuff inside. Freestyle sleds outside in the arena?

I also strongly believe any sort of restriction on who can sell what and at what price is the worse idea ever. Also to limit only dealers from one state when your trying to build event is terrible also. We have 3 pages on here complaining about not much going on and no deals on parts , the idea to limit the amount of dealers and then force them to sell parts at retail with no deal sound a lot like the socialist government that is collapsing on us as I type lol We need more shops, dealers stores etc. It helps us all grow and competition not only brings the price down and brings up the level of service given. When you run a successful business you worry about giving your customers the best price and service you can, not how to limit other from doing a job you cant, or forcing other business owners to sell high to customers.

Ive gone to this show since I could remember and it has always been the kick off for sled season and a event I look forward to all year long. I hope it only gets better and people, myself included will start to help out more to make it grow.

Last but not least thanks to everyone that stop by our booth and gave us a chance to talk sleds with you. A business is absolutely nothing without you guys and we sincerely appreciate everyone one, even if you don't spend money with us and just said nice work!

Show was average to above average for me. I didn't see any real "deals" on items I was looking for. Overall, the show was good. I felt there were a lot of people there. Saturday was crouded inside. The parking was full. I actuall parked about the same spot as last year and I arrived about the same time.
I was a little dissapointed in the after market "goodies". I was looking for a tunnel bag and couldn't find one that I wanted.
I was however very impressed with some of the dealers that put together door prize packages. Many door prizes were retailed at over a grand. A full set of riding gear from HMK--awesome, a yamaha generator--awesome, a sled deck--awesome. Way to pull out the stops and support WSSA. I for one thank you! I will be supporting those businesses.
I also stopped by the booth that Last Resort had. Man that kid in there was cool. Could tell he liked what he was doing. I think he said his grandparents owned the resort. I will be visitting them again this year as well.
NOW, the snow needs to fly----and I need to get my sled ready.
Oh, and I almost forgot. I got to meet a few people while working in the Glacier Cruisers booth. Very cool working in the booth. Lots of people stopped by and chatted. Many purchased raffle tickets--thanks.

Not to derail this topic, but we had a snow show in OR a couple years ago. Guy was trying to load a sled onto a deck on a smooth concrete floor. He got a good run at it and the ramp came loose at the top and the sled simply rear ended the pickup and sandwiched the ramp in between. I was amused, but did suggest they use a strap to keep the ramp anchored to the trailer stinger.

Were does the money from the blue lot go ? I brought a sled for the east side and paid $ 40 for blue lot $10 to go in show spent $ 150 inside and sold $70 worth of stuff in blue lot . most of all It pumps me up for the season.

It's been a few years, but: I heard it cost like $22,000+ to rent the fairgrounds for the weekend.......Costs are paid from vendor fees, Admission, Blue lot, concessions and all of that........Not a cheap deal for sure.....

The rest goes to WSSA to fight to keep our riding areas open.

With all the empty buildings around I would think there would be a better deal around than what they pay the city.....
As far as running sleds, would it be possible to rig up some kind of booth that had an exhaust out let on the roof ??

What was the deal with Edmonton having their snow show the same weekend? Is this always the case or did that just happen this year?

I would like to know the deal with that too. There's probably more places than just were it is now. I'm sure its hard to change the location after so many years being in the same place tho. Some more input would be great if some one knows more.
