well what can i say about yesterdays ride except it was AWESOME!!! driving up we have a place we call ride hill, if theres snow there we can ride, and there was snow. this got me pumped before we even hit windigo. was nice to get back to my winter home and could tell the mountain had missed me. fresh pow, blue skies and no tracks, breaking trail all day long. me and hero unloaded at the east side of the kelsay loop and headed up from there. did a couple of short rides to check the mods and make sure everything was working as it should and then we were off. headed north and then west. wanted to check out a couple of areas that had changed over the summer. pow got thinner the farther west we went, was kind of surprised since we were at around 7k. didn't get to go quite as far as i wanted but got a good look and will be heading back once there is more snow. need to be able to get over all the new gates they have installed. after my sightseeing was done headed back east, was gonna do a little boondocking shortcut, but with the dealer snow decided it best to wait. took me a few minutes to talk myself out of it, man i sure did want to hit it!!! headed over to tipanongas to check out the snow shelter, there is wood this year so that is nice. hunters had come from the cresent side and the road over there almost looked like it had been plowed. luckily they stopped there and didn't track up our pow
it was getting late by now and my gas gauge was almost on the E so we headed back. 80 miles for the first ride of the year was not bad. sled ran perfect all day not a bog, sputter, or hiccup!!! new track hooks up nice, stopping seemed to be a little less graby, but will have to wait until i can go down a big climb to see how much difference. clutching was dead on, the 40/36 hits nice right off the line. the pipe and airbox are so sweet, you can really feel and hear the difference when the powervalves open at 6,500. that put a huge smile on my face
new seat is very nice, is actually easier to go from side to side not having to worry about my foot dragging across the seat, also gives great leverage when rolling the sled up. even tried sitting on it while riding, seemed silly to sit down while moving but was much more comfortable not having my knees in my face. thought it might be too tall to ride with one knee but the height is just about right. without the stock can and oil injection bottle on the right side makes it roll to the left almost on its own, although it does make it seem twice as hard to roll right. guess i need lighter clutches
the 4 grams lighter in each of the weights i saved just doesn't seem to offset the 20 pounds i removed from the other side. i'm sure a little deeper snow will help. couldn't ask for a much nicer day, or riding partner, for a first/break in ride, hopefully the snow will keep coming and build from here. can't wait to head back, got the fever and the only cure is more pow!!! a couple of more pics, sorry no action shots...
heres one of hero up on the goat road, looks like he's thinking he wants a cat
when lightening strikes...
