New flash

I got both Assaults re-flashed this week. It is too early too give conclusive results. "Hers" had a few coughs and hiccups in 20 miles, returning form the dealer. Mine just flat out ripped. She never noticed any symptoms before the re-flash, but I did, riding to the dealer and a little on the way home. They both sound a lot different, and have better throttle response, for sure, but want to get them into the mountains to really feel the difference.

Thats funny that you mentioned yours sounded different after the flash.
My buddy and I had ours done at the same time. Mine sounded different after
the flash but his didn't. Neither of us have ridden yet, but we will see what
happens this weekend.

If the stock fuel map does not take or hold and you have a fuel controller that has a map based on a stock map that is diffferent than what you tuned for and you are not using an A/f gauge you may run into problems.

Any time at a dealer it might be wise to have them verify the curent flash(polaris) there are specific part number so to speak that it(di.wrench) will show that equate to the different maps.
Mine is going in today for a reflash so I will have them verify what is in it before they wright over the map.

Dealer tells me that they cant see or tell if the map is working properly, only that the software file version is correct.

I have both computers and a pcv.

Just got back from W-yellostone, sled ran like crap here in MN, had my comp without the flash and a new one with the flash with me, both ran the same here and out there. ran alot better out there, but cut the HP 30% with the altitude change and you cut the problem 30%. never stumbled during a climb or in the powder just on the trail. We ran 2 dragons with the same problems, tired 3 diff cans, stock, mbrp, hps, no change, top speed was 76 before it would cut the power. I have about 550 miles on my D8, fuel pressure was 60 psi, my dealer came out to my shop before we left to try some last min things to get my 10,000$ investment to run, but with no luck. I have a pcv and it runs worse with that, even with the 4 diff maps ive tried. im about ready to pull my hair out over this whole thing. My edge with NOS never had a prob, thank got i kept it.

Team Tips S-10-01-03
Sorry but my page scanner is down....in a nut shell here is what the Team Tip states.

Polaris is not putting this out as a notice to all to have this done. According to Polaris it is for so called isolated issues and if the customer is experiancing these to install it.

There are three different maps depending on the color of your injectors.

Should fix the following..
1. Engine prematurely entering the DET protection mode.
2. Mid to high RPM bog or unexpected drop in engine RPM.
3. Slight RPM hesitation when Accelerating at mid range RPM's

There is a note in BOLD at the bottom of the Team Tip..that states Important: ECU flashes must only be performed on stock snowmobiles! Other than Pure Polaris SLP silencer and Vforce3 reeds. Polaris reccomends removing the components and reconfiguring the snowmobile back to stock.

At least they changed their language and are not threatning to void warranties

Just got back from a deep powder ride at around 8000' with the new flash for the second time and my new PCV with a map from Jim for the first time and I couldn't be happier. The sled never missed a beat today, just like when I first bought the sled (08 D8 BTW). I'm done messing with it now. Pull and go. Good luck to the rest of you.

Good for you! another success story............PV5 is the way to go

800 problem

what do your EGTS read at the stumble area and what throttle position are you at? maybe air temp sensor in the airbox or bad tps sensor.

I'll bet the dealer can't do it on his own, but I suspect if the new flash messes up your sled, it would be possible to go back....

Rode 60 miles in 3 feet of new snow and my sled ran like a rocket. New flash works well, with no hesitation or bog. It ran well before the new flash as well.

rode for about 10 mins on the new flash could only hit 7900 and scuffed mag side piston. ran pretty good for 60 miles before the flash with the odd stumble. going back to dealer .wondering if it was something with the ecu ? not sure what happened.

rpm issues

how are you guys getting 8200? been following this thread but after new motor udate can only get 7700. ride 7-10000 ft trid jims pc5 contoller with map. tried different spring in exhaust valves, any one have any thoughts of what my problem is.

Did you ever get yours running right?

Fullmonte
No haven't gotten it to run correct, and have pretty much had it. It has taken away allot of the fun of sledding. It is constantly a struggle to stay positive while riding when you sled runs like sh$t. It can take a nice sunny day and make it seem like rain. I’m taking a week off while I decide what to do with this sled. Never owned another brand before and never wanted to but I've got to bring the fun factor back into sport for myself.

that really sucks cardiac..if we were closer I would hook up with you on the hill and we would do some parts swapping till we figured it out...hang in there...(a side note it appears the latest flash from last week is helping the troubled sleds).....:beer;:beer;

Carl's clutching for me. The new flash took away about 150-200 rpms. I could hit 8400 once in a while, but not anymore. The PCV solved the hiccup issues though. I'm fine with just 8200:D

Well Bog is pretty much gone used to happen around 6500 to 7000 on mine not real sure exactly but real close to there. I was riding 10K to 11K yesterday in over hood powder and about 3 or 4 times it had a little burble could have been pluggin up starving for air too. But other than that it sounds a little different. pulling 8300RPM with 58's in it other than that stock clutching. It was pulling 8150 with the 10' update software. Just seems a lot more responsive. Of course it was pinned to the grip most of the day yesterday. And I had just did the exhaust valve hose mod. Cant wait to ride again in a few weeks.

What is our target rpm on the 800, 09 with slp can and pcv, I have been shooting for 8250, is that right? Also does anyone know if dynotech has released a new map for the latest polaris reflash?
