New flash

Dave, has the dealer checked the tps with a multi meter? or just with digital wrench?..it needs to be checked with a multi meter..its more acurate then digital wrench..also have seen a couple of sleds that were acting up fixed with either an egt sensor or a air temp sensor(sensors all tested good on digital wrench) theory was the sleds were injesting lots of snow around the headlite and contaminated the sensors...also what octane fuel? seems the sleds dont run as good if they have to much octane....(stock mine ran better on 87 octane then 90 octane)...

Had the new flash done and lost rpm on top with little change in mid range. I took it back to the dealer and had them put it back to oct flash. Sled runs better now but still can only get about 8000rpm above 4000 ft, put stock pipe with hps can on and could only get 7900rpm, put back the slp single and put the 1062 weights in,sled worked good but still only 8000rpm at elevation and only 8100 down low. The one big difference I noticed between the stock pipe and slp was the track speed, from 5 to 8 mph faster with the slp pipe.

AK I am putting in a additive that gives 3 to4 octane boost, I think I will leave it out and see if their is a change. I am thinking about putting back in my MTX weights, I kind of like the way the sled pulls in mid range with them.
All so thinking about ordering the PCV.

To preface what i'm going to say, I am a VERY loyal polaris rider and I bought a PCV and intend to put it on my 2010 dragon this weekend with Jims map.

But anyways, Look at it this way, over the years it is nothing for most of us to spend $4-500 on a pipe setup(to gain 5-8 horse), $???? on mods to drop a few pounds, $60-$100 on aftermarket weights to gain some power, etc. etc.
When you look at it that way, we are spending $400 bucks to gain 12-14hp ...... Bottom line is CHEAP HORSEPOWER AND RELIABILITY THAT POLARIS IS NOT GIVING US! :face-icon-small-sho

I am metallicat, and i approve of this post.:face-icon-small-hap

PCV is the low cost Answer

IMO the PCV has been the bast answer for my 09 D8 at my low elevation of 925. Yes, it cost more money but it has been worth the price times two! I think the Polaris maps will never be fully capable to comply with both the EPA emissions and good reliable performance with out a melt down. The lean burn downs will just continue to happen with out the PCV. If you can spend 10 grand for a sled save your self some down time and repair costs once your out of warranty. The PCV can be installed in less than 5 minutes and removed in less than 5 minutes. Yes the performance increase is another bonus! The PCV adds more power than a pipe or can in all of the tests I have seen.

I currently have a 09 d8 with carls upper end porting, slp pipe and can,
Carls helix on the high side. 66 belly buster, 2k -6k I have been experiencing running issues similar to others at both idle and mid range. I just bought a pc v. Does anybody have any experience with mapping for a setup similar to my sled?

agreed, put the pc5 on, winter is too short to have your sled in and outta shop, or fuel to drive to the dealer. if you think about it 400bucks is cheap. if you like sitting on your arse when everyone is riding and then the season is over. im running one, just waiting for the latest map from jim today.. sled runs great no bog stumble or nothing and im still running it.

new flash

brought my sled in for the check engine light coming on and brake light on my gauges staying on after i let go of the lever.Picked it up today the service guy at Bristows said the polaris engineers were there and installed a new map.Hopefully my d8 switch runs better

Bristows Service?

TLPROX, Did you find that your brake was locked on and frozen from moisture? How was the service at Bristows in St. Cloud, MN? I bought my sled there this year and it was a left over new 09 D8 RMK 155. The price was good but the service department was very misleading about the number of problems that there is due to the fuel mapping. When ever some one calls in they try to log your name and conversation. I just wondered what your 2 cents were from your expierence.

Does anyone know if this is the new flash for the updated fuel mapping?

I got the flash two weeks ago. Even after It still had the higher end hesitation.
Then we changed the valve springs and went to purples and changed the clutch weights to 58's. I am pulling 8150 RPM under full load and @ 8700'. NOT SURE IF THIS IWLL HELP WITH THE LOWER ELEVATION RIDERS, BUT THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEMS
It feels stronger now than it has all year.
Talk to Lincoln @ LOOSE WHEELS in Duck Creek. He can hook you up.

Running previous flash my 09 D8 could pull 8150 instantly, 62g @ 7-10k' and 66g weights @ 1k'. But I still had the mid range bog. Got the new update, sled seemed to have less power, looked at tach, barely gets to 7900, and still bogged.
Stopped at dealer this weekend while riding and had them put the previous flash back in, didn't fix it.

Thinking about getting a PC5 or 3. only have a SLP can, and air kit.
I don't really care if I get an increase, I just want my stock HP back :face-icon-small-coo

My 08 D8 had all the updates, 2010 motor setup and whatever Poo came out with for changes. Ran like crap IMO. Bogged, cutout, the whole thing. I hesitated in installing a PCV but now regret waiting. Installed PCV this weekend. Sled flat out has never run any better than it does now. All problems gone. Jim at Dynotech is the man. Answered all my questions and did a great service to all of us that installed his setup mapping. Hats off to him......

I've been reading up on it on the forums here.
SLP told me I would have to buy a pipe for there tunes?
Does Dynotech have tunes for 1000' with can only?

I ran all day yesterday in 3 feet of fluff. I have the PC5 and slp pipe setup and air intake plus Carls Clutch kit. My sled ran flawless and had tons of power. I also have the old flash too. I ran from sea level to 2500 feet. As AKSNOWRIDER said I to have the tip in hesitation all the time. Once you get over that its great. I am running 50/50 avgas to 90 premium non-ethonal fuel. My friends couldn't believe that it ran so good.

All of Jims maps are based off of 1000' feet or so. SLP is correct, their tunes are designed for their pipe.

I have had great service with Bristow's on my D8.

Just has the first 08 flash installed on my 09 dragon with the warrenty topend.

The sled freaking rips now. Huge improvment in the bottomend. Topend went up 100 r's Not much change.

So are you saying youy still have the "tip in hesitation" after instaling the PCV? I just ordered mine & havet he same exh & intake mods as you so I was hoping to have the hesitation gone after the PCV.

Yeah your sled did run great, but not quite as good as team YAMAHA. I also believe you got smacked by the two kitty cats. I guess you beat a 330lbs man on a 06' REV. :) It did run good though.

pc 5

just burned my 09 d8 pto side down at 360 miles, lean burn down, will the pc5 fix this also do they come with a map for 6500-9000 feet with a slp can, so it would be a plug and play.

Ramrod you shouldn't need the av gas..I have run mine since new(Dec 07) on pump premium..never a sign of deto.....if you get to much octane you will also loose some power..on carls clutching..you can do some changes and pick up more performance also....
