Muskoka buys 858...

Yeah wow that tink tink tink noise was annoying even watching the video.. can't even imagine having to deal with it while riding.

I hope his dealer gets the thing fixed quickly.

After reading all the comments in the video…it seems there are two things unrelated that are happening. One is the bracket and the binding of the valves. The other is to tight a tolerance of the valves and in conjunction with the binding it hits the piston and then it gets really bound. The comments make it seem like the most common issue is the bracket and when it’s fixed it’s fixed and what happened to Matt’s was more of a fluke and not the norm. Of course we will find out because there are over 500 comments on you tube and then there’s instagram and so he will definitely tell us when he knows . Another poster did a break down of the architecture of the engine and said it was just an over site on the tolerance . Now I want to k ow too lol. I’ll call my dealer tomorrow for fun lol
Definitely, the valve issue is something that was uncommon, but he did still have an alignment issue on the bracket.
Will be interesting to find out what the rattle was as well. seeing that it seemed rpm dependent, probably exhaust spring

Yeah that’s the consensus of the dinging but the valve sticking and the big and cable deal it would seem are related but maybe just bad luck his valve stuck and had piston strike? Like I said iam not a mechanic but just reading all the posts. Matt said most likely he’ll need new pistons and valves. So that’s bad

Sorry bad spellcheck. Not confuse things even more but now I read they think the dinging is the piston hitting the valve? Yahaha! We’ll have to get the low down from Matt and the mechanics!

Wow, I was under the impression the new designed power valves could not hit the pistons. There was some issues with that on both the 800 ctech and suzuk motors.

Iam just regurgitating stuff off the comment section of the video. I hope there will be a better and professional explanation given to the world soon. The thing that’s funny to me is the sane guys who’s clutch flew off and ruined his crank shaft is saying cat is crap lol. Same with the foo guys. Matt even said in the comments he had a doo engine seize fort may ride so stuff happens but no it’s the curse of the cat lol. You wait these d things are going to rip after the bugs are out. Lol

I doubt the pistons can hit the valves. That would be dumb, but you know I've seen dumber
I'd bet the loose valve fretted itself into the cylinder from being loose. Might be repairable.

I think they tinging is the y pipe spring on the steering post, totally different tone than the brake disk.
As much as that engine shakes it could be anything

I'm ruling out exhaust spring against steering post. I checked all mine today while swapping in a new belt, and there is quite a bit of clearance between sping and steering post.

I respect Muskoka and his unbiased videos. He shows the good, bad and ugly.

Last week there was a ride in BC that had Caleb, Turcotte and others. One of the lesser known guys also took video of the ride. His Polaris primary clutch blew up, damaged crank, major carnage. Dude was bummed big time. No mention of the incident on the sponsored riders YouTube videos or the fate of their riding buddy with the tow out or helicopter rescue. Muskoka would have shown it, he deserves all his success as a non ambassador, non sponsored rider.

my sled needed the bracket adjusted a bit also not a big deal should have been good from factory but its a a first year deal. havent ridden it but have the 600 and the chassis is awesome so easy to ride. dont need to be wrong foot forwards just stand on it like a dirt bike. The cooling "issue" was from the gravel road they were on not the sled. hopefully the valve issue he had is isolated, sucks that thats the sled that it happened to, but if it gets fixed and he rides it more this winter it will be forgotten if the engine holds up. I'm still excited to ride mine and think it will be good.

I watched this also. Does Polaris pay for the heli lift out if needed? From what I watched he said a heli was going to lift it out. They doubled on the way out. Lots of troubles out there. Been there done that minus the heli trip.

Last I heard is that Polaris refuses to pay the bill. Another of many reasons I will never own another Polaris.

The tabs that act as washers for mounting the stock can make some funny vibration noises. When I put my Diamond S on I doubled them up for a nice snug fit.

I have about 30 miles on my new mountain cat catalyst. It makes the exact tinging sound that his made. I have not found the source of it yet but it’s very intermittent and annoying, but it has gotten better than more miles I put on it. I had not adjusted the power valve rod yet at that time. Mine ran fine was not boggy, but I gotta figure out what that dinging sound is. For what it’s worth the sled is awesome handles amazing and climbs up on the snow like no other. I was riding in 2 to 3 feet of fresh powder with a decent base underneath it. I had my buddies alpha to compare back-and-forth with definitely an improvement and super nice on the bombed out trail that was following my buddy in on going to take it out again to get some more time on it

You are right the new valves shouldn't hit the piston. The old valve stopper would wear a bit and make contact with the pistons all due to the angle of the valve with regards to the piston. The new ones are parallel to the piston, if the new valve is making piston contact you have a lot bigger problems lol.
