Matryx boost fuel pump

Mine was similar, day 2 started whining, day 3 started going into limp mode every time hit full throttle, day 4 every blip of throttle over about 1/2 throttle would go into limp mode.Took to the shop, they checked all of Polaris recommendations, went out and still the same. Decided to try springs in socks. Went out yesterday rode 70 miles, ran perfect, not even any whine, wide open as long as I could hold it, no limp mode. Snow conditions and weather were similar to last weekend's ride. Seems to be fixed.
Update to the springs in socks.
Slight whine back after 2nd ride with springs, the whine increased every ride there after. Continued running great other than the noise for next 200 + miles. By then noise was extremely loud, then started going into limp mode again.
Tore it apart Tuesday night and the filter in black box was sucked tight around the spring, the other filter was not.
Put new warranty pump in and rode 50 miles yesterday with no issues or pump noise. See how long before noise comes back. Don't think the socks are any different from original. Seems to me that the material is too restrictive to flow required fuel through it.

I agree seems to be to restrictive.

I asked the mechanic if they could check fuel pressure with digital wrench and he said it’s not possible. Does anyone else know for sure?
From Post 189 pg10.

With the debut of the 850's new ECU and sensors - both fuel pressure and fuel temperature are available parameters. Also anytime a service report is created and/or uploaded to polaris, there will be a record a well of all sensor values.

From Polaris this Morning… I’ve been pretty insistent on Polaris extending my warranty an extra year with my $20,000 sled being down a good chunk of this riding season. Looks like they are doing what’s right!

Bill, Good Morning.

Can't believe things can change so fast overnight. I have received word that UPPER management has approved to extend BOOST models an extra year due to the fuel pump issues. I am sorry for all the stress and conflictions. All in All being patient has paid off.

Your machine will be granted an extra year of warranty. Thanks Bill and let me know if there are any other questions!

That’s cool

When SnowTech, who has the closest Roseau connections that I saw among what's left of the mags and arguably the best at long-term testing, calls out Poo in their Spring mag for the 22 pump issues, including experiencing it themselves on their own bought and paid for 22 850 Assault, Poo big shots can't help taking notice and some action. The issue us owners of 22 850's have - now or later - is broader than just Boosters. Still weirdly quiet on root cause(s) and a fix.

i sent an email asking about this warranty extension and this is the reply i got.
Hi Trevor,

Thank you for reaching out to Polaris. Unfortunately this rumor is not true. The extended warranty with Snowchecks is only for 2 years. They will be extending warranties for the 23 Snowchecks.

Well my brand new rmk matrix slash, which continues to have overheat issues, now quit in a canyon, 15 miles from the trailer. Yep fuel pump completely quit. WTF POLARIS??!!! 6 days of riding, 5 days of problems. This has been the worst sled I’ve ever owned. It had to spend the night in the canyon, so now we get to drive all the way back up there to get the F’ing thing! #worstsledever. #cmonpolaris. #justgetitright. !!

Are those new as in new from Polaris or are they aftermarket socks?

If new from Polaris what seems to be different with them? Do they have something better to keep them from flattening out like an internal spring? Does the material seem less restrictive so fuel can flow easier?

40 micron vs 10 is what i heard

I think its just a bandaid, and when the tanks is 25% and your climbing for a long time or going downhill that stupid black bowl will emtpy and pump will cavitate.

Sorry to hear it's been such a pain.

Hopefully they resolve your fuel pump issues.

Is the overheating riding in on the trail when the snow is hard?

Yep, we have to get out to the play areas. I finally put a set of skidoo scratchers and a set of cable scratchers. 4 scratchers! Works when you’re going over 20mph, but go slower when you’re on a single track on anything less than powder, and you’re overheating again. Design and engineering flaw. Great for guys that are in powder every day, but for the majority of us that need to go on a road to get to the play areas? Overheat city. The flaw in my opinion, heat exchanger too small, no flap, no bueno.

4 holz type scratchers with these cable binders tightened on the ends with the bolts facing forwards. Makes for a total blizzard of snow down there. Been doing this trick for years. Works great on my boost…

was at my dealer this weekend. one of the snow checks they just received has a bad fuel pump right from factory. Sled wouldn't even start for PDI. Doesn't give me a lot of hope that my snow check wont have fuel pump problems when I finally get it. and worst is I won't be able to ride the thing until next winter.

I havent received my 22 NA yet either , it is in Winterpeg waiting for all the updates. I was told the pump being 1 of them.
