M1000 Hiccups on the Bottom

A buddy of mine has a 07 M1000 and a F1000 the M1000 runs great with no flash and the F1000 runs like crap with the flash. He said he is not going to mess with the M1000. All I know is they better figure it out fast or a class action law suit will happen. There are plenty of guys that are pissed off about this problem. I'm sure most would love to jump on the law suit band wagon.

i HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS WELL .tHE SNOW IS COMMING SO i THOUGHT i'D LOOK ON HERE FOR HELP. mINE WILL STALL AND WILL TAKE ME FEEDING FUEL IN TO START BACK UP. i'M AFFRAID TO TURN THE SUCKER OFF .

87 octane is a bit low i think, everyone i ride with runs at leats 91 usally 94 or av gas wich is 100. i run av all the time because of my turbo and have had no problems. some guys tell me that is will dry out my motor, well thats why we have oil isnt? the low octane gas could be your problem or you could ha ve an electrical problem. do you ever have codes flashing at you?

Taken directly out of my Operator's Manual for my 2008 M1000

"Recommended Gasoline (EFI Models)

The recommended gasoline to use in these snowmobiles is 87 octane regular unleaded

NOTE: On 2-stroke EFI engine models for optimum performance, do not exceed the recommended 87 octane gasoline. Using a higher octane gasoline will not increase overall performance."

When I got my 07 M1000 it was doing this too. before the 1st re-flash, with only 200 miles. After a couple weeks of downtime the dealer figured out it was the pickups in the fuel tank just like posted before by someone. I believe they took them out and put in different ones. Since then i have never had another issue and I have had the re-flash as well.

Can you believe its almost winter and Cat is still screwing around with this ECU problem. Every time I call my dealer I get the same story.....Cat should have the reflash out soon to correct the bog problem, I even called two other dealers and got the same story. What a bunch of crap. Cat needs to get off there *** and fix our sleds before winter. A lawsuit is sounding better by the day.

Hiccup

I noticed that the 09 M1000 has a rubber gasket that seals the exhaust outlet, is it possible that this is an attempt to cure the bog by preventing exhaust gasses from entering the underhood area? I rode the 09 m1000 and did not note the bog that my o8 m1000 has.

No it's an ECU problem. The 09 got a diffrent one. Cat knows abot the ECU problem, they say there waiting for the EPA to approve the new re-flash. But how long does it take, this has been going on since last winter.

He is full of it. Its not done yet for the 08. Tell him to call his tech at cat.

Why do you say it's definetely an ECU issue? You seem to have a pretty strong opinion but not really saying why it is an ECU problem.

stall and hesitation solution

Is your exhaust stuck in the snow? If plugged it will do that!

Well for One Cat knows its an ECU problem

Two There are a ton of dealers that know it is an ECU problem

Three we have tried everything else

ITS THE STUPID COMPUTER, a guy i know had the same problem, it ran like crap, had no power bottom or top end, lost power going up hill, he talked to the dealer he bought it from and the guy said alot of m-1000s had the same problem and it was the computers in the sleds causing it.

me and the guys I ride with in ak all ride 07-08 m1000's and a few of us had similar problems, if you had the first ecu reflash for 07 it will run like crap. Also it won't run if you are running av gas. but it really sounds like a broken powervalve cable that was my problem. it would run good most of the time and then all of a sudden it would crap out @ 4000 rpm. another guy in our group a faulty tps which caused about the same thing. thats what we found up here. but seriously check your pv cable @ the servo motor cat had a recall for the clip on the servo , it would chafe and cut one of the cables. my .02

I'm just wondering why people are running over 87 octane in their 1000's? Unless you are running a turbo or nitrous they actually run better on 87 octane than higher octane.

When mine went down it really looked like slight detonation. I have always ran 91oct. So IMO 87, even though they say it's fine isn't enough.

Plan to run a bit of 110 just because of the 1.5 deg timing key.

Yeah, I'm still of the opinion that there's nothing wrong with running 87. Even my salesman didn't realize that 87 was recommended because it's a "high performance" engine the dealer thought it was 91. You can get a lot of extra power out of these engines so it's not like they are way maxed out stock so you should easily be able to run 87 in their stock form. Just my 2 cents.

For what it's worth i own my own shop & mod them
mine is an 07 with slp pipe snow pro air box & bd box
minedialed in and riped no bog just riped
had people ride it they said best running
m1000 they had been around.
My spider broke dealer would not warranty clutch
with out updates i said i had bd box & i run mine rich
makes more power on long pulls
they reflashed my sled & put new 3 tower clutch on
3tower clutch works way better but!!!!!
Now i have a low end bog at 4000 rpm & some times it
will die when you go to take off
never had it until reflash so don't tell me it's not in
the reflash or computer
p.s. I know how to adjust & work my bd box & you can't
tune it out !!!!!!!!!!!!
