I have never heard of any problems with the M1000/F1000s sold to Europe, and in Sweden the lowest octane you can buy is 95octane. Different ECUs maybee...??

me and the guys I ride with in ak all ride 07-08 m1000's and a few of us had similar problems, if you had the first ecu reflash for 07 it will run like crap. Also it won't run if you are running av gas. but it really sounds like a broken powervalve cable that was my problem. it would run good most of the time and then all of a sudden it would crap out @ 4000 rpm. another guy in our group a faulty tps which caused about the same thing. thats what we found up here. but seriously check your pv cable @ the servo motor cat had a recall for the clip on the servo , it would chafe and cut one of the cables. my .02
For what it's worth i own my own shop & mod them
mine is an 07 with slp pipe snow pro air box & bd box
minedialed in and riped no bog just riped
had people ride it they said best running
m1000 they had been around.
My spider broke dealer would not warranty clutch
with out updates i said i had bd box & i run mine rich
makes more power on long pulls
they reflashed my sled & put new 3 tower clutch on
3tower clutch works way better but!!!!!
Now i have a low end bog at 4000 rpm & some times it
will die when you go to take off
never had it until reflash so don't tell me it's not in
the reflash or computer
p.s. I know how to adjust & work my bd box & you can't
tune it out !!!!!!!!!!!!
I AGree- After several M-1000's in and out of my shop- the flashed ones ( including mine now) have that almost die at Idle thing going on...and when it does die it is a &@#&!! to get started again....
I got my flash done cause of a lean PTO Cyl and warranty would cover only if I received the reflash............
Wish I would have known Michelle before my reflash
As Camaro stated.. you cannot tune it out...... Completly
I doubt we will see a flash to upgrade us at this point... the focus is on the 2010 new fuel system/ chassis--
So we are out- screwed - blued - and tattooed. MMMMMmmm Feels Good!!
can someone verify that they tried ADDING fuel at idle with a boonie box AND that resulted in NO solution? I personally aided in tuning out this issue on my buds 1000 and it NEVER had the problem again - EVER. Keeping my fingers crossed that my new 08 doesn't have this issue. Hasn't so far - just runs like a straped ape - even bone stock.
the problem at or just off of idle is not because of being rich...because of emissions, it is too lean.....a previous post by mrquick stated that he had a boondocker box with which he added fuel at the idle rpm and that cured the bog....the 09's have the problem solved, new programming....will cat reprogram the 08's?....who knows....but for those who are turning down the fuel pump pressure, you're going the wrong way....add fuel at idle, and you will cure your problem
What elevation do you run at?
I've got an 06 M7 that does the same thing it does it really bad whenI have my slp can on it will hesitate at first throttle and sometimes even when its pinned on a climb it will bog way out then take off again, and it's not clutching trust me. It does it the worst once it's warmed up and rearley does it for the first hour of riding
....i was at one of the snowmobiles shows recently, and at the cat display area, bumped into one of the guys that do product developement for cat...i've known and ridden with him a couple of times a year for about 10 years or so...in talking with him about the bog at engagement, he said emphatically that it was a lean bog, and would be corrected with the 09 tuning...but hey, what would he knowFlat out just not true.... I have 49-51PSI and I have the exact same issues as everyone else.
Here is an idea, if you are cat, you think you would want to regulate your PSI and GPM at the fuel rail or even better at the injector to rid of the variance between the tank and the nozzle. There are contributing factors between these two points. Such as, pressure loss, negative total dynamic head pressure(TDH), friction loss at fittings, and elbows. The simple fact that cat has a fuel line that both rises and then declines after the pump, is so wrong in of itself. (who let the intern design that?) Not to mention a heat variance from the motor and pipe. If cat was to fix these issues, then they would have a solid foundation and baseline to make the appropriate adjustments to the ecu.
With that being said, and if cat was to actually fix these issues, we would still have to address the issue of the throttle body being too large for this size of motor. Did we not learn a lesson when everyone had to have their carbs bored out? smaller venture carbs will run more consistently
Thank you for reading, and I will now put down the soap box.
