It was PISSING rain in the valley this morning.

My dad and I unloaded at Lolo Pass this morn at 8:00.
JUST turning into snow at the Pass...JUST barely starting to stick to the asphalt.

Turned into HUGE alligator flakes and was sticking like crazy. It was REALLY wet, (except for my Motorfist stuff :) ), and could go anywhere.
Wet and heavy. The underlayers were soft, with about 6" of wet heavy on top of it.

Made for some fun riding.
We got back to Harts deal about 10 or so...and they were just leaving. He said they'd be back in 10mins, but he never did get back before we left.

Met a couple of Washington forum users for the first time in person. Curt from Fastrax and Mack29 (?). There were probably more, but we don't go around with forum stickers on our foreheads. LOL

LOL...I never did put one of those fancy chrome 4m stickers on my sled a few years ago. I was too cool for school on that one.

ha ha

X you better man up, my wife's been in there with us before......

The famous side hill,,,, yeah, be thankful there was a trail at all, I've spent the good part of some days just trying to get across that bugger, Westmont was there once I believe. We only got to the test hill, two of us dropped off the back and then left,,, that was the whole day!!!!

You bastard$ let me know when you plan on bein at the Locsha, I might grace you with my presence:face-icon-small-win

Truth be known I ended up right behind X on said side hill that day the Spokane crew went into Surveyor on the X ride.
At the time the Idaho section was the most active section on Snowest and as a lurker (not stalker) of the thread I knew they were going in that day and for the most part had an idea of who was who by following the thread and also riding with some of the guys from Cda, Id. and Spokane in the past.
X may remember it different then I do but all in all he did well in the side hill section. I only remember him getting into trouble once. About the time his sled started off the trail he jumped off on the down hill side and was standing there holding it up from rolling over when I showed up. Didn't take us long to get him straightened out and he was on his way again.

I'll keep you posted. Not sure if it will be this year or not.
I would like to make one more exploritory trip to see if we can make a straight shot out of Frog Cr and down in to the deep drainage over to the Williams range. I think it's do-able but if not and we were to have to come back out and around it would be a set back that might keep us from going all the way thru the same day. Knowing you can't make it we would peel off a different direction at the middle fork of kelly.
One thing I know though is that it CAN be done one way or the other.

I'm an unknown entity for the most part.

We'll claim ya. You'll have to show up for beers, dinner, and a meet and greet.

well....im throwin in the towel. we went out today to get some more miles on the new motor. had some issues with it running on/ rpm not dropping when i let off the go flipper. took it back to the barn and pulled tb boots to check for cracks or chipped reed pedals and found metal flakes on them...took a peek in the plug hole and the piston had something pounded around in there and chewed up the edge. threw a magnet on them and they jumped straight to it. we are purdy sure its from the bottom end....but i guess thats its all a part of the game...

ragincajun, as the saying goes if it weren't for bad luck you might not have any luck at all. The polaris camp hasn't been all to kind to ya this year. What's your plans? Going to rebuild for next year or get something else? Let us know what you find wrong.

lol true john. its been a bitch to me all year lol. maby i should go to polaris hq and chuck both motors on the CEO's desk lol. but i guess the second one was a roll of the dice and i lost..i guess **** happens. i didnt feel like touchin it so i went east to choteau for a couple days but when i tear it apart ill fill ya in. ill probably get it running and sell it(if i can)...if i can pay off some debt and make some money this summer maby ill go back to doo or try out a cat? hell i may sell it all and wait until i get outa school and get a job...that would probably be the smart move but whats the fun is that? lol

Well fellas I've been out of town for a few days and thought I would drop by and say hi to you all. First of all Ragin, I'm sorry to hear about your sled. Man that sucks so bad, and its tough for a guy to go through when it seems like you can get nothing to go right to save your life and it seems like a huge cloud of BAD LUCK is hangin over your head! One of my good ridin buddies had a little bad luck, he threw in the towel and now he no longer rides which really sucks. But hang in there man!! Please do all you can this summer and buy a sled next year so we can ride!!! I know its tough but my opinion is bite the bullet, put your 09 behind you, get a new sled and suffer through the hot summer and then lets rip it up next year!:face-icon-small-hap
I would hate to see a guy who loves to ride as much as I do give it up.
Oh... and second, we're a week into April and its snowing at my house right now! :thumb:

LETS RIDE!!!

IndoubtGASIT, It's looking like I'll be out of town this coming weekend but I know Rooster is looking to ride Friday or Saturday. I'll be in for a ride the following weekend though.

ragin, looks like Darla (I think that's what you named her) gets last laugh this time but you can show her. Just go buy that Phazer that you were sporting in Cooke. You'll show her. lol

John----thats what i named her...starting to think i may change it to Gertrude or maby Oprah? that whore will be purring, snorting or hacking by next weekend....im pretty sure the crank out of the no. 1 motor is still good(we think)..got another piston and im ready to go...thats if the crank is the problem lol. once i get back from choteau ill be tearing into it...but first i gotta fix about 5 miles of torn up fence for my grandpa before the cows get shipped to their summer pasture. the only thing i dont like about snow is that if ****s up fence in a hurry.....ive got tons of busted wire to tend to and there are a bunch of posts that got pushed about 2 feet down when the snow settled and melted. some crazy **** lol.

Indoubt..there is no way in hell im throwin in the towel lol...its a love hate relationship. kinda like a ****ty gf that is a total bitch but when she puts out....its all worth it in the end ha ha. once i get that whore running lets hook up for a ride...im sure the snow will be around for a while :D cheers!

It was a tough winter for the folks up north. Your doing gramps proud though I'm sure. I've been wanting to get a transport truck and blade out of Havre and 7 belly trains from 40 miles north of Shelby now for awhile and one week you couldn't see the transport trailer and the next it was sitting in a lake with lots of gumbo between it and the highway. I hope it drys up enough I can get to them soon.

lol yeah its been nasty here all winter i guess....especially the havre area. i have a couple of freinds goin to school there and went and saw them over christmas break..when i pulled into town it was -20* and 3 feet of snow and blowin snow around..that night leaving the bar it was +38* and raining lol. that last cold blast that went through had them at -50* for a frickin week! lol after a while the guys on the radio quit sayin the temp and just said dont go out side cuz its off the charts lol...man am i glad i didnt go to school there ha ha. the Schellenger guys are going to have fun diggin out their rigs on the front for the Teton road project. their belly dumps and loaders are drifted in bad and arnt gunna be moving unless they get completly dug out lol. im guessing under the hoods are packed with snow too.

ya they were saying that when they tipped the hoods on some of the trucks it looked like the hood worked just like a mold. A perfect hood shape made of snow and you couldn't see the engines. lol

Hows gramps feeling?
