Kurt's Polaris Gear Down Kit?

So the price is $600.00 for the two gears and the belt? Their site lists the "kit" for $500.00 but then says to order the $95.00 belt separately. So does this kit only consist of the two gears?

Yeah I think that's right if someone has the gates part number they use I would think you could find the belt cheaper

I found out that for this season they are offering another kit that doesn't gear down as far as the original kit. It also comes with a wider belt. I don't know what the ratio is as it wasn't mentioned in the e-mail.

Possibly for use with the X3 and 7 tooth drivers?

I demo d one last year with there 2.4 gear ratio I really liked it I could wheelie over a log if I needed too and I weight 300 . But that's me I really liked it, gotta try it if you can or both

TKI Belt drive

I have a TKI belt drive on my 2013 Pro800 163 RMK.The sled run great. I have it geared down to .252. Belt temps are way down, plus he has different gear combinations you can buy. He sell the whole package as on unit.I think you can pick your own gear combination. Tom Kozba Industries in Billings Tom is a great guy to do business with with. Very knowledgeable about his products and he makes them in his own shop. He makes them for Skidoo, Arctic cat and POLARIS I'd give him a call.

Interested to see Kurts options this year. I like them as they are $100 less, but if raises price with this new belt, might have to go TKI. TKI is $100 more but has a tensioner so you can run different gear ratios.

any more info on this?

should one get the gear reduction and the clutch kit at the same time or separately? maybe pick up the clutch kit down the road??

That is assuming you clutch for the new gear ratio. It is amazing how many do not do this. And going that far on gearing it will take quite a major change in clutching to take full advantage of the lower gearing. Thats where folks are seeing the big raise in rpm at trail speeds.

I spoke to one of the guys from Kurt's Polaris at the Snow Show yesterday and he said you DO NOT make any clutch changes with this kit. He said gearing down enables the clutch to open all the way and work more efficiently.

Has anyone tried the gearing kit with Carls clutching. I'm running Carls now and I am ordering the gearing kit. Ride 7-10,000 ft.

I am interested in the answer to this question also......I'm also running Carl's clutching which includes their helix.

Did you make any changes to clutching?

Yes very interested with more info on this! I have 13 pro with rkt 858 bb kit and already have team tied with helix n springs Kelsey recomened me to run with this kit. I'm wondering if I'd still be good with my clutching I already have? Also with the added power of the bb kit would I want do go with less of a gear down then a stock sled?

Yes you can use the same set up but you are leaving a lot on the table.

Sure would like to here from more guys that have used the Kit from Kurt's and please add if you changed clutching at the same time or decided to re clutch after just trying the gear kit!
Thanks

I'd love to let you know what I think of their kit. If they would ever ship the darn thing I'd figure out if I like it or not. 2 weeks now and I've been told three times it ships tomorrow or in 2 days.
I understand there have been 2 holidays in that 2 weeks but this is getting ridiculous. There have still been 8 working days in the last 14.
