I found out that for this season they are offering another kit that doesn't gear down as far as the original kit. It also comes with a wider belt. I don't know what the ratio is as it wasn't mentioned in the e-mail.
That is assuming you clutch for the new gear ratio. It is amazing how many do not do this. And going that far on gearing it will take quite a major change in clutching to take full advantage of the lower gearing. Thats where folks are seeing the big raise in rpm at trail speeds.
Has anyone tried the gearing kit with Carls clutching. I'm running Carls now and I am ordering the gearing kit. Ride 7-10,000 ft.
I have a TKI belt drive on my 2013 Pro800 163 RMK.The sled run great. I have it geared down to .252. Belt temps are way down, plus he has different gear combinations you can buy. He sell the whole package as on unit.I think you can pick your own gear combination. Tom Kozba Industries in Billings Tom is a great guy to do business with with. Very knowledgeable about his products and he makes them in his own shop. He makes them for Skidoo, Arctic cat and POLARIS I'd give him a call.
I spoke to one of the guys from Kurt's Polaris at the Snow Show yesterday and he said you DO NOT make any clutch changes with this kit. He said gearing down enables the clutch to open all the way and work more efficiently.
Does Kurt's recommend a 100 break in just like Polaris does? Anyone know?
