Kurt's Polaris Gear Down Kit?

After going through 2 belts in 250 miles this year and having Polaris dealer find nothing wrong with the clutches and alignment I decided to take drastic action. I talked to one of the clutch gurus at Team and he said it needed to be geared down. I am 250 lbs and ride aggressively with a 163 track.

The tech at team told me to phone Kurt's Polaris which I did Kurt was very helpfull and I would of bought his kit but C3 composits is 20 min drive and I wanted one right away.

I ended up with A 2.44 gear ratio I think stock is 2.09. Best money I have spent in a while sled pulls 8200 instead of dropping off to 7700. Clutch temps are way lower and it back shifts way better. I wish I would have done this on my 13 last year.

Would recommend this to anybody super happy with the way my sled works now!

Did you make any changes in the secondary clutch?

I have a boondocker Tial Turbo on my 2013 Pro RMK. Will the turbo clear the Teth Air belt drive gear down kit?

The TKI kit has been used with many turbo kits. Only the kits that use the same location for mounting as the TKI tensioner will be a problem. PM me the kit model of the turbo kit and I will ask Tom for you.

We have done 2 sleds in Montana out of the Seeley Lake shop with the Kurt's Polaris gear down kit and a Boondocker tunnel dump turbo system.

Make sure you have a heat shield installed between the belt drive and tunnel dump muffler or you will find major failure will venturing out in the back country.

Cheers to all and Happy Holidays...

So the kit is $595... Has anyone mentioned the price of the clutch kit?

$140.
I rode with my bud that has just the gear down kit and its night and day difference. I'm very impressed. We're gonna put the clutch kit in soon.

Awesome thanks. Also has anyone tried this on a sled with 7 tooth avid drivers which already gears the sled down a bit? Just wondering if I have the 7 tooth drivers with the 2.6 Power Claw track and this gear down kit, if it will be geared too low?

X2 snomac. Will be running same setup. Have chain and think I'll go for 19 or 20/ 42. Low alt.

Why bother when you can pay $100 more (in USA) or $200 more(in Canada) and get a TKI kit with a nice tensioner. Simply change the top pulley if you want different gearing. Just look how much more contact the belt has with the pulley. The belt failures are very rarely from the belt breaking rather from stripping teeth off. This will happen at the top pulley where there is very little contact and much load per tooth.

X2 on Tki belt drive! Awesome product and service

Gear down your 600 pro!! Get the kit !!!!!!!

I put the gear down kit and clutch kit on my 2013 pro 600 155 yesterday at Kurt's Polaris then went out riding. Unbelievable but common sense fix to a 600!!!

To have the same gearing that a 800 has makes no sense, let alone the 800 are geared to high as it is. So why go out when you never get the right rpms and your drive belt gets hotter than h e double hockey sticks!!! I was even putting the smack down on some 800's. This my first time posting on a forum but I feel any one with a 600 would love to know this info!!!!

Anyone run this? Thinking of doing a 3'' on a 600 pro. I want to buy a 600 for some reason and I think that a pro 6 with an X3 would be a pretty sweet sleeper sled, if it would even turn it.. Although I understand gearing for the most part, clutching (helix, colored springs, etc.) is kind of Chinese to me. This site and threads like these have been a big help already, well, not to my wallet.
Thanks Fellas.

Call Harts MotorSports (HM Turbos) in Lolo Montana. He did one.

Does the $495 Gear down Kit not include the clutching? I was under the impression that that included the secondary spring and updated helix. Do they offer a clutch kit that is in addition to what is included in the kit? Looking to put this on my 15 once it gets here.

thanks

I'm interested in this as well. I would like to put this on my 15 as well from the get go instead of getting an extra belt only to switch to this before the season is out. The cheaper belt price and cooler belt temps for clutch and quickdrive is what has sold me.

Couple Questions-
Is the kit $495 or $595?

My current clutching engages a little higher than I would like, its a parking lot arm jerker and a trencher when I try to ease into the throttle... so I figure just a softer primary spring will fix that issue, I like responsive, but being able to ease just a little into it is nice. My main question is will I see big (noticeable) gains track speed wise in the deep or more just low end pop with the gear down? I am running an X3 and just looking for a bit more track speed.

And from the way it looks you run a different belt with this kit? How much does that run?

I'll see if I can get a clarification on Kurt's price for you guys.

Are you stunning stock clutching? I'm guessing not. I'm running a Polaris light blue/pink and my engagement is right at 4000, give or take a hundred. What are you at?

Are you talking about clutch belt or Quick Drive belt?
