Excactly. I always say try it stock first, give it some time. Amount of hate is hilarious.I Did this with a aftermarket muffler on my 2016 T3, first sled I ever rode stock before I tried a muffler on it, sledders are our own worst enemy, change everything before it leaves the dealer floor.
why not just get a tune?
Always made a big difference on jet skis. More of a controlled environment im guessing. Always ran a factory pipe wet. Never tried the sxr dry pipe. Mandatory equipment. Used to pipe every sled i had but that ship sailed 15 years ago.pipes seem like a pain in the ass plus it also looks like there's plenty of dissatisfied folks across the forums with the lack of performance. way back in the day i was big into stand up jet skis (still have a heavily modified, old school one in the garage) and put pipes and on one occasion, twin pipes. the results were significant and the performance increase was pretty much a certainty no matter the brand. no placebo effect simply because you bought one. the only variables you could choose were the length of pipe and if you wanted to run it wet or dry.
with sleds it doesn't seem at all that simple but obviously the application is vastly different. tunes just seem easier but i'm a neophyte.
it's on the 2 stroke kawi 800 sxr which has:Always made a big difference on jet skis. More of a controlled environment im guessing. Always ran a factory pipe wet. Never tried the sxr dry pipe. Mandatory equipment. Used to pipe every sled i had but that ship sailed 15 years ago.
What is your old school mod?
I know all about arms out of socket. My shoulders are bad and need replaced. They don't want to do it because I'm too young which means they don't last. Have a krash 50 cal with 1100 dasa. I don't ride it because it feels like it is pulling my arms out of socket. If i ride it im going to ride it like i want and then i pay the price. Also have a krash foot rocket with 701 and 2 sxrs. One stock and one 840. Love standups but shoulders don'tit's on the 2 stroke kawi 800 sxr which has:
Factory Dry Pipe
high compression head with interchangeable domes (gotta run 50/50 race gas and pump gas)
lightened flywheel
MSD Ignition
aftermarket muffler
bored pump nozzle
skat Trak Impeller
blowsion aluminum tube handlepole
and a few other details.
back in the day i put twin pipes on a 550 and turned it into a rocketship instantly plus those things were so light.
it will pull your arms out of socket no prob if you grab a handful of throttle and aren't ready.
I basically grew up surrounded by water and have owned and ridden 440's, 550's, 750's and now this 800 or more correctly 850, since i was 12. Used to eat, sleep, and breathe stand ups. when i got into mountain sledding a few years back i figured my years of flatwater and surf riding experience on standups would make sledding that much easier. i was completely wrong.
Mint, thanks for that Bud.I had to bold and underline it. Some people just don't believe that and blame the clutching.
Anyone make any long wide open pulls with these yet??
